I was curious what caused my african violets leaves to curl downward instead of upright like yours? They are right in a north windows w west windows (covered w sheer curtains) within 5 feet. I know from just watching a few of your videos they need repotting and i did prune a few leaves. Thank you!

Tee, The curling downward could be from either too much light or insufficient water. Though you have them in a northern window, the west window is close with the sheer curtains. So I'd take a look in the afternoons to see how much light they are getting at that time. And then check to make sure you are keeping the soil moist, but not soggy. Let me know if you have more questions about this! And that's good that you did some pruning, so you can get some new foliage growth and see how it does.

Is it better to use clay pots or plastic pots when growing African Violets ? Is it better to water from bottom using a wick ?

@vanschermerhorn7617, I tend to go with plastic pots and put the pots in a pretty outer ceramic cachepot, because African violets don't like to dry out and they drink a lot of water, especially when flowering. Both bottom watering and wicking work well. The perk of wicking is that the soil stays consistently moist, and if you wick, you can use a ceramic pot.

What about the self watering containers where inner pot is unglazed clay? I fear those will eventually clog up.
