Pretty much in the states too. But no one can deny his work ethic, putting on incredible shows, and giving it all. Including giving his money to leeches. There was a time when he was broke. Not sure if he's back on his feet again. I bought his first cassette. That one had a Oakland-Bay area underground appeal. I preferred those original tracks much more than a cover of Super Freak.
