This reminds me of waiting for the hillstream tank to get set up, scaped, and finally stocked. Can't wait to see these fish mature and take on their adult colors. A-N-T-I-C-I-P-A-T-I-ON

It would be very handy if you put the names of the fish in the description. It helps allot if people want to find out more about a specific fish. And an added bonus is that people who are searching for that fish can find your video's.

I like starting with young fish and watching them mature, especially with a fish that has a lot of personality. It's like watching your kids enter kindergarten and finally go to the prom.

awesome setup. i never wanted to keep tangs.... less color, generally shy fish, slooow growing (compared to malawi)... but once i kept calvus and fronts everything changed... there is something about tangs thats fascinating. ...personality maybe... dunno exactly what... but i am hooked now.

I started with about 7-8 Cyprichromis leptosoma and they started breeding like crazy after about six to eight months. Babies are huge and males are awesome!

Really enjoying your videos lately, Rachel, especially the greenhouse and plant videos. You're looking great and seem to be feeling better, I hope that's true. I know from FB that your family had another setback with the truck wreck but your perseverance is inspiring. No matter what life throws your way you plow through it, catch all the important pieces, and keep moving forward.

One of my fry damaged his tail and it looked exactly like the damage on your fish - I was really worried that he'd damaged the rays and it wouldn't grow back properly. As always your advice was spot on. Clean water is the best medicine. Daily water changes and he's as good as new! I was amazed how quickly it repaired.

I'm sure you're well aware of this, but I just want to impress upon you again as to how much of an important role you are in so many animals' lives. You alone are the sole reason they have a good or bad quality of life, and I respect all animal keepers who strive for the goal of creating perfect paradises for their pets.

I just can't help but wander about the fish-keeping community and simply and inadvertently grade everyone on how they treat their fish. (i.e. not having to constantly move them, the obvious stress factors that exist within a tank, etc.)

Love the Cichlid videos and I'm looking forward to any new species spotlights with them - and any fish in general! I do have a few Cichlids but not enough dedicated tanks to get more of them - and what I got are suitable only to Dwarf Cichlids. I caved in and bought a few German blue rams of which two formed a pair and have already done a few practice spawns. Unfortunately no such luck with my Agassiziis Apistos as the male and female show no interest in each other. I haven't yet dared to venture into African rift lakes territory because water is extremely soft where I live (my tap has around ~67 ppm dissolved solids in total, and GH is only about 3dh). On an unrelated note. You don't happen to have any Badis Badis? I ended up getting a few of them and I'd love to see a species spotlight about them. I heard that they are shy fish but mine don't seem to be shy at all.

Like i said on a previous video i am planning on making pretty much the same type of tank setup with a colony of shellies , I'm am curious tho as to how you maintain the tank with so much stuff in the tank ie the sheer amount of shells and rocks etc , how do you handle the debris that going to collect in and around the shells knowing that any one of the shell could contain fish and or fry , i know this is a pretty garbled question but i hope you get the question im trying to ask haha

Can I keep lamprologus brevis (6 of them) in a 29 with 6 julidochromis dickfeldi? I was thinking having rocks and shells with aragonite as substrate, and if I can what happens if there’s more males than females or vice versa? Do they just go off on their own and live in their own shells or do they fight

Had 8 of these. Every once in a while you would see the males dancing for the females. I even caught the mating dance once. The female spits the eggs and catches it after the male fertilizes it. Then before I knew it I could literally see eyes staring out the bottom of the females jaw weeks later.
