I finally found ONE last night, didn't bother recording as this video was already done and up... but I found ONE! I had to revive them 5 times to make sure we didn't fail the final boss room. I reported them with the accompanying note "AFK douchecanoe fucking up the quest" 😁

The Devs need to create some algorithm that combines outgoing damage and how much a player has moved in any given activity. This would be only for missions and it would not give rewards if you don't meet the threshold.

I'd like to meet the idiot who added the abbreviation "AFK" as offensive, but not the entire phrase. it's terribly irritating

I had one today and he had the nerves to say your welcome when the mission was done

I'm a hw with a young son (16 months old). In my gaming sessions I occasionally afk when my son or husband need me for something, but I always type in the chat that I need afk and I'll be back in a min or two. If I need to afk for an extended amount of time I always close my game.

Advice What I do is when afk player joining me and not doing nothing but hidding somewhere get free loot I just leave mission or lead the enemies near afk player and then I leave mission go to different area

I’ve encountered a handful of AFK players, mostly in Sterile or whatever, that one mission that you can quickly farm under a minute for kuiper, I’ve mostly seen them just sitting there. If you start it up, they’ll shoot a single enemy and join the mission while you run around and kill everything, then just pick up the rewards. But it’s only been about 4 or 5 players, you can easily avoid them by either resetting the world or you can just set the servers to private so you’re the only one who loads into the world

I think it depends on what activity you're doing. If you're doing story, yeah, there's not going to be much of any AFK players there. But if you're doing anything farming related like the Kingston defend mission (EXP farm, usually one AFKer) or the kuiper shard farm in Sterile Lands (this usually ranges from 1-2 AFKers on like a 70% basis), then, yeah, AFKers are going to be common. Certainly, you can't kick them, but the work around is that you just leave the spot, and teleport back in, which usually resets the people there for you. For Sterile Land kuiper shard farm, I understand if someone sits back because they can't do anything since I literally wipe all mobs the moment they spawn with my bunny build, but one can at least be stationed at the mission start to start the mission each time while the other two can be aiming directly at the mini-boss spawn point to take him out faster. Otherwise, if they purely AFKing...worst are the ones that AFK at the mission start making it look like they are going to push the button, but I end up having to run there every time.

I chill at the button when bunny ia doing the farm because i was playing on my gley and bunny was spawn killing all the mobs before they even fully spawned, so instead of chasing and missing shots it was easier to stand and autostart the mission every min or 2 and sit on my phone.

The people who stop mid game for a minute probably got some loot and are tryna figure out what to put on if your in a safe area with no enemies you can do it

But I do not want to lose power increase and might farm faster with the latest drops, so I always check in mid game. Usually die too 😂. Early games are supposed t be like this. Like almost every region gives me many updates to my gear until I reach lvl 100 in gears. Do not niknow about endgame tho.

I've had bunny players just tell me to get out of the way and let them work.

I call them campers because they're usually sitting by the area the final boss will show up to get the loot at the end. 🤷🏾‍♂️ But only 2 or 3, so it's definitely minor. 👍🏾 I was surprised seeing so many people finish their round or stop in the middle of their round and run to group up with the newest people to help them clear. At least that's the way it looks.

"campers" means something quite different in Video game parlance mate.

In most case , no one can out clear mobs from Bunny players , but act busy for god sake , not just afk

21 hours played so far. Only seen one AFK person. To be fair to the complainers, I can understand why they get so angry... if you lose because of it. These days, being an older gamer, I have learnt to let these things go and not bother me.

Been running dungeons today for blare and I’ve had 15 AFK farmers

I've only had one afk player that I recall. We lost the defense mission and we blamed him in our chat party. Looking back on it, he probably didn't effect the match outcome. So I haven't really experienced much trouble personally.

The only AFK'ers I've encountered were my squad mates any time I was the only bunny... at least whilst doing campaign. Farming runs don't go so well, if one person can just aoe down a wave, then you just sit there waiting for adds to spawn. AFK in many cases also don't refer to people physically being away from their pc... it's used for people who spend time organizing inventories waaaay too long during gameplay too. Ie. anyone in game, not actively playing whilst something is happening/ ongoing, is therefor afk. Either way, a lack of "team" play, is what leads to one person playing, and 3 watching. This is a game issue, more than the players themselves. Many arenas/ kill missions have tiny areas... It's like it was designed for solo play, with coop as a side feature... and then they went, wait, let's just leave coop on, and call it multiplayer. Maybe I was just lucky, not having afk people in my operations. For open world, you either join a mission in progress, or do it yourself... if you want team play, then organise a team to play together? I don't mean that sarcastically, I mean that in the litteral sense, that's why I'm not finished with the campaign yet, I'm waiting for a buddy to have a day off so we can spam/ grind together. You could also just ask in the global chat, not everyone's a troll either. Although, i don't determine your luck/ karma... so that's subject to sudden change, I guess.

Is it really afk, or maybe cleaning out their inventory so they dont get stiffed on the boss loot? Idk about you, but the lost items mail thing doesn't work all the time.

(Possibly) Totally unrelated, but in Destiny 1, me and my team were on a mission to get the Sleeper Simulant gun. I played as a Hunter, and the objective was to hack the entrance during an onslaught of enemy waves, and only thanks to the fact that I remained in stealth in the middle of the freaking battlefield while being barely alive the whole time and I was able to occasionally revive teammates were we able to breach the damn entrance. After that, it was all manageable, barely, but we did it.

In my 80 hours of gameplay I’ve seen one person AFK for about 30 seconds😂😂😂

My play time is 45 hours. And ive had a total of 2 afk people. Super rare.

Have over 80 hours in and haven't encountered a single one in a group activity, but I'm sure it happens. Sure there's been a time or two where it seemed like they were gone for a minute or two, but definitely not for a entire time.

I dont usually play with people, normally I do all my mission solo, unless I am looking for a quick infiltration farm, however, I did play special operations yesterday to try to level up one of my characters and came across 1 in my only game. First one since I started playing the game. Said this I am surprised it doesnt happen more often since AFK people get xp and loot regardless of their activity, most games require you to contribute somehow but since this one doesnt, I will expect AFK farming to be a problem soon, I would say special ops will be the place to farm them. In my case I found it odd, since the player is just partially AFK as it will need to restart the encounter somehow so my best guess is that I just a lazy fella who was probably watching youtube or something else, still no less bad

Fortnite Save the World still has this problem, it'll never go away. Best way to combat it is having a party kick function, and also have someone else be able to join automatically when the next person queue's up for the instance

Not seen any AFK while in group content, have seen a bit of low engagement, or the odd occasion of having to Res, more than DPS, but that's not really a problem, it's more amusing than anything else lol. I play on Xbox, so not much conversation going on, but emotes aplenty, been a lot of fun.

16hrs played according to Steam and I've only noticed an AFK person once and it was in the XP farm mission, so it had zero impact. We just split up at the 3 spawns and carried the AFK guy.

I'd afk for a few seconds due to kids. And pizza that came for dinner one night. I haven't had issues like this. I have however had people leave colossus fights. Annoying

I usually only report someone as AFK when they move with the group and move to a safe spot away from the fighting and then refuse to help. Because it can be that someone may have been called away for something. So basically I report when I notice they are infront of the TV/Monitor yet just refuse to do stuff. If it just looks like they are genuinely afk then I will not report them. I myself have to brb a bit sometimes. Like I'll just stand there for 5 minutes or so, but then I'm back. The people I report are the ones where you can tell they could help but they wont. Funny enough though in my experience it's 95% console players that leech like that or just refuse to play the objective. And yes there are objectives in the game that go massively faster if everyone does them. Not just half the team.

One... and I'm 99% sure that the two accounts partied together was the same person. Ran a low level character into a corner and the other character played the mission. Every few minutes the afk character would twitch into the corner a little further

I've played the game for 34.5 hours and ran into only 2 so far.

Ran into one last night during operation, just leave the mission so that way they don't get anything.

I don't think I've run into any and if i have I didn't noticed. I honestly wish I actually WOULD get some just because of how tired i am of obnoxious bunny players. A lot of my missions are bunny players with a build to speed run everything like their virginity is on the line. If you want to speed run do it solo because there's no point in being on public at that point.

I have only seen one true afk in a dungeon run. I did that mission on normal that you showed on the vid bc I realized that I never did it. I think the couple of people went AFK bc I was lvl 38 bunny sprinting around one shot everything with the AOE skill.

I also found a afk player....he chose to hide safe and I straight up told him in chat that I would report him...he left shortly after.

I'm 30 hours in not seen a single afk player everyone I played with helped and engaged in the mission even had few message me to help with the first boss and they were low level and they put more work then I did lol

Ran into it the first time today. I ran a mission many, many times and nearly every time they were an afk or a lvl 1 hiding somewhere. This was a defence mission with tons of mobs so it really hurt to have one player do nothing. Also, you shouldn't be able to queue into lvl 40 missions if your lvl 1.

I have only ran into one at the start of the mission he was AFK for about 3-5 minutes and came back and played other than that player I haven't ran into a single one

i experienced this but in reverse. im in SEA and there is a chinese guy who can one shot anything to the point that he is the only one moving and we dont do a thing cause he carried us all the way :D :D :D

I've gotten 1 afk in a colossus match. Just kept dying in the spawn area, so instant fail intercept. You can't afk effectively in this game due to death caps causing mission failure. What's more annoying is when team mates don't revive to prevent death because they're unaware of this feature.

Also i subbed, and I haven’t seen any afks at all really BUT I have seen hard mode trolls. They will join a hard mode interception with a low lvl character, run and die then abandon before we can rez, and they use up the lives so we have to restart.

What some people may be meaning is people farming certain missions and waiting afk while the cooldown is ticking.

100+ hours in, the closest one I've seen is someone shooting at the boss to join in on the mission just to get the rewards while I was farming for a mod

I've encountered several people who will go AFK. If I notice it, I try yo leave the mission right away. I'm not about to work harder because someone won't contribute, or pull their weight to success of the mission. I'm still trying to figure out how to leave a group though on the PS5; It's not in the social tab as people keep adamantly is there.

I go afk on normal mode instances, but I’m also lvl 40 gear 100 and I don’t want to ruin the experience in the low lvl dungeons but I will help if needed. But that just differs me from ACTUAL afk’rs. If I shoot something in low lvl they die instantly so I want the lower lvls to experience the game instead of them saying a high lvl is ruining their game or giving a handout.

No need to go afk... do what I do, equip a lower tier gun, then just head pop some addys while the newbies learn the mechanics of the dungeon/boss. Guardian angel mode.

I got Freyna's alter skill mod where I can give nearby players her Plague armor. Guardian Angel Freyna at low level Infiltration.

Only had one afk...Just led the boss to em.

I see the odd AFK standing at the spawn points but I do that myself all the time.

Only "afkers" I've encountered is the randoms I get running normal infiltrations. Some will stay at start, wait to get moved to the end boss and then they fight. Doesn't bother me as I'm op for the mission. Hopefully they don't do it if partied with a lone newbie but I doubt they will. They want the boss loot after all.

Not seen a afker yet. Only see them at hard ambush point but there only afk till the mission ends so they can redo it for everyone

ive played over 100 hours, i havent really found many afk'ers. the only thing i can gripe about, is the people who join boss fights an rando leave, or being a bunny ... dying... and leaving instantly. only thing i have to gripe of. ugh!

I have found zero. what I do find is me lagging way behind in missions as the group I joined is speed running.

I was farming “the chapel” yesterday and today for a total of 40 runs getting material pattern 23 for blue beetle. I had about 4 who were afk until the 1st or second encounter, 2 that were afk until the boss fight and 1 who actually got kicked for being afk!

I found 2 in my 60hours of play. But it was on a exp farm mission so idk if that counts

I had exactly ! 1 ! afk dude in the exact defense mission you showcased in this video. He hid behind the big defense object so he won't die, quiete a clever one! 🤣 Great video, earned a sub!

The thing is, I have been matched with the same person 3 times in 5 void portal instances. Maybe there are not many afk players but the same afk players are matched up with same players again and again that drives them crazy😂

Remember to leave if the person has afked half the mission if pub.

Ive been playing since launch about 8 hours a day, havent seen any afkers, once I went afk due to an emergency for like 5mins, felt kinda bad but it happens.

I’ve been running across this issue, the with the Dead Bride at most 1-2 are afk & I’m “stuck” from moving forward in the game. Also, can we talk about drop rates & Freyna? I had to run each mission, no word of a lie. Min of 12-20times.

u don't need to talk about drop rates, it's just ur luck rotation that r bad af, 12-20 runs is rookie numbers, which means TFD drop rates is tamer than Warframe do u ever heard of someone never got the weapon he wanted for more than 5 years? while literally myself got 7 blueprints of that weapons? so yea, that's looter shooter for u

i don't doubt afk players exist ... but i think with the way the game is structured as far as running through and randomly shooting enemies they get linked into the mission at hand and not realize it.

I got it a lot on hagios around noon est, I mean a lot, but I don't think I've ever noticed someone afk before that and definitely not after

I'll be honest as a game dev who has played this game I have gone AFK around 3 times for situations out of my control my dog bless him came to me wanting to go toilet as I was in special operations in echo swamp. People should understand gamers don't go AFK for the sake of it situations arise when you least expect them so by the time you come back the mission is over or your back to the title screen even in discord they moan about AFK players.

I never encountered an afk player, I am trying figure out which weapon should I delete or so... We are still new so... Not afk but most likely on inventory screen. If you see an afk inside an void instance then that guy is afk yes but on a region, nope. I see some poeple like me who goes afk for 1 or 2 minute for necessities but no afk so far. I like playing the game. Why should anyone go afk anyway? If you are not having fun playing then do not play... That is it.

i am not gonna lie i am one of those "afk players" while i am not always afk i am just tired with this ultra repetitive missions, me and my friend farmed 120 relics to get 1 ult gley piece for him so till they fix this problem with the drop i am gonna play half afk (i am not gonna play active while he can kill on his bunny faster than i can shoot bruh) just like kill the boss thats it (even though i got once with a group of low lvl people and they had it hard to kill the mini boss, i still remember myself it was rlly a hards boss for that lvl so i got to help them and killed the final boss rlly fast, but if there where alone that would be a nightmare, so no when there are rlly people that i understand have it hard and even more without the 4the person i am gonna help, and no i am not afk at a boss thats just next lvl of shameless) so yeah i stay afk when people like with bunnys do all the work in 3/4 min while i cant even follow them.... what do people expect at that moment that i am gonna follow them on my gley? If they nerf bunny, if they fix the drop rate, i think a bunch of people will play more active, bcs sorry but i am doing the same freaking dungeon for the 50the time, just following a freaking bunny, its frustrating, but no one gives a sht about that....

I personally havent seen any afk players yet, In this point of the game im in no one can afford to afk.

Yea i noticed alot of ppl afking/waiting till youre nearly done with missions from white gulch/haigos/fortress and its so annoying im there grinding and then they hop in last minute for the loot i report all of them like just join and help youre sitting waiting till the end then to join its so scummy

At this point I have about 65 hours in total from that long-ass weekend because of the 4th of July and a little bit in between and I've only come across that I can remember anyway maybe one or two it also wasn't during like super hard missions either. My biggest annoyance in this game is a lot of people just don't understand yet how to damage a boss properly and the majority of those people that I come across don't use mics so it's really hard to explain anything when you don't even know if someone can hear you explaining it. You'd think if you're shooting at a bunch of flying robots, everybody else in your fire team would do so if they can without dying so that you can start the next damage phase, just for example.

And one of the two that I came across only moved it actually started to help because we all actively stopped until they started moving. They didn't like it and then I'm leaving after about a minute or so. But at least they took care of the problem, Being them.

Its rather simple really. This is a flaw in the game design (and human nature, but you can't really change that on a large scale). Some thing like the Ult Bunny part grind are so uninteresting and mindbogglingly easy that people don't feel compelled to play for the first, let's say 5-6 waves at all. Make the chest at least a _guaranteed_ drop and the waves far harder/more interesting and voila~ afkers now have an actual incentive to not be afk. If you just kick/ban them, I seriously doubt that'll incentivize them to continue playing and that will destroy the player count. The devs know this and choose not to do anything about it because they want the grind to be as frustrating as possible so that they can cash in on that 90$ skin of course.. It only ever becomes a real issue for me when a 4th player is absolutely NEEDED to achieve victory.

I've been AFK in the open world/ possibly at the start of Infiltration missions just to quickly check my loot and mad dash to everyone else as of course things come up and happen IRL but i always do my part/contribute to the group of randoms. If you're paired with Bunnys it's hard to contribute on those defense/Farming you can definitely help out i just use a Sniper to get some quick kills lol and try to synergize my Lepic abilities. I've probably encountered some but not many I'm still early game but I'm high enough level i can carry the weight if they slack but i haven't encountered it.

I've had several, it usualy happens in the Kingston defense or the echo swamp Def. It sucks for sure, but I've not really seen it to often.

Lobby in defense but AFk is pretty respected/allowed in SEA so it doesn't even count

Ive played this game once its released, i never saw that and if they are afk they dont do missions, but i even join people in missions, once joined tight as they finished, felt bad, helped rest of the way with other stuff so that i dont just leech off of their time

Rest asure there are people out there that exaggeration AF the smallest amount of lack of performance by other players, you just keep it chill

I'm kinda guilty of this lol I come home from work and hop on to do a little grinding and end up passing out in the middle of a mission.

I havent seen any afk so far. And I doubt it can be that hard unless people are actually being assholes because after about 5 minutes of afk you get logged out (atleast in Albion)

So far only 2 AFK in Kingston XP farm. Me and the other guy quit and left them to fail.

I usually afk near a mission beacon so i dont have to do it alone. Id join someone else and get it done. Kinda nice that you afk too long, you get booted to title screen. A few games i played doesnt do this...such as PSO2 NGS

So, i have a very important questions for you blunty, as someone else on the great spectrum, why the fuck does your character have a chest x-ray strapped to his back?

Because there are very few cosmetic options for "F2P" players right now, and the x-ray backpack is one of them (A Twitch drop), and I like it better than the default. More fun.

Ive been grinding to get my super senses module for Gley. I get an afker every three runs. Ive been grinding for the last two days with no drop but the ratio of afk players remains the same

It was a common thing in launch era Destiny. Not defending it, but it does often mean that the rewards for the activity are not calibrated correctly for the players input. For example, when the reward for the completion of an activity far outweighs anything that could ever be gained during the activity. Poor behaviour certainly, poor game design definitely.

This whole thing is glorious! Gamers be gamers. And honestly, who cares if they do. People can play however the fuck they want. Don’t like it, don’t play it. Simple.

Yeah had 3 of them all squaded up, only time they did anything was to rez me when i was down from being overwhelmed

When people compare it to warframe, they usually mean either the high mobility (with the grapple) and/or the mechanics of how certain parts of character building and upgrading works... also how much of the monetization works.

Ive seen like 2 in a 10hr session. Also I Prefer the term Leech XD.....I go afk too in the first few waves on a defense/exterminate if there are not enough Ads for all 4 ppl to kill. I just solo every other activity coz most ppl have bad builds/scales difficulty & recommend the same to everyone.

So this is coming from an ex-warframe player so take that as the basis of my point of view as I perceive that a lot of the afk criticisms i see in my play seesions are coming from those who haven't played warframe before which is the first descendants most appropriate comparison and that this is a new problem that they haven't encountered before in any other game like destiny, the first descendant's other partial comparison and thus they have not yet learned to be intellectually honest about the various situations a game like this and warframe can create yet. Now I will say that there exists a small portion of the community that legitimately afks for the sake of it and shame on those people; however, can we also acknowledge that there are instances where afk becomes the only justifiable thing to do simply because the scenario involving 3+ players with their own descendent builds engineers for it to happen; if you disaggree with this acknowledgement, I perceive this as being intellectually dishonest. Take for instance me trying to farm void shard in the agna desert this morning. I'm farming by myself killing things as sharen, and then a group of three bunnies join into my agna desert instance and proceed to help in farming the mission. A couple of mission cycles into the farm I realize that I cannot contribute to the fight anymore as having 2+ bunnies with max range builds means that all creatures are dying frame 1. With no point to me going around and shooting the dirt my enemies' electrified corpses are now lying on, I proceed to sit down and let them do their thing. They notice this and start flaming me for not contributing, telling me to go somewhere else to farm and leech off others whilst saying that they are reporting me for afk. Not a single one of them took the time to acknowledge the situation their descendent and builds created for me. Now, normally in a 4 person co-op game, each person is supposed to contribute to the mission, but what happens when another players contributions are so great that they start to inhibit the contributions of others? Is it justifiable for them to criticise the other members of the team who aren't contributing as much? Who is truly to blame for this outcome? Many warframe players, especially passive aoe damage frame users like a +280% ability range equinox know that certain frames and builds can essentially carry 3 other people in certain 4 person mission types like defense and extermination missions, and you know what? No one complains about it because a rising tide lifts all ships. They have learned to be intellectually honest with themselves and acknowledge that the power they have built to bring to a team can potentially drown out all others players contributions and there is nothing those other players can do to help it and it isn't their fault for that outcome. So with that said I encourage others to, not always, but sometimes take all the information involving the situation at heart and acknowledge that outcomes do not come out of the blue, they are created. Note: this is not to justify a nerf to bunny, the same thing will happen with a max duration valby or max range ajax build. This is simply an acknowledgement that for certain aspects of the game, the contributions a descedent and their build brings to the table can be so great that it has the potential to impact the contributions and play experience of others to the point where afk is a potential outcome.

I had 6 game with 1 afk player in my exp/kupier farm with an afk 3 time in a row last night but it is rng if you pair up player. Honestly if it doesnt happen to you it happens to someone else. I just leave the game i refuse to condone this action and block em. This shet shouldnt be normalize if you sign up for a coop game i expect you to act like a team and play the game.

Played this game for over 250 hours and whether playing operations or open world activities I genuinely haven’t seen 1 AFK

I assume you’ve been playing since Beta. But I agree, I’ve seen one and I’m pretty sure he just dcd

I've had 3 today. Tho it hasn't been an issue really.

I dont have then too often but yea being afk and reaping the rewards is just infuriating

I only seen like 2 afk ppl ever and one came through at the end of the mission. So idk lol

I found none. And every where active 1000%. Actualy because of them i made it through hard missions and raids.

Found a few mostly on the defend Albion mission. I am on console
