Who needs a Light Saber when we have Silky Saws! Thanks Lars.
I hate saw as a tool in the forest, but you have convence me of it's usefulness and ease of use.
Yay I’m the first view and comment and I’m a tree climber and silky saws are the best in the business
I bought the silky katanaboy 500 because of your videos! I love it and a never use a chainsaw anymore because it's so fun to use. Thank you Larz!!!!!
Silky Saw is SILKY SAW!!!
Lars , I found out today, wear some kind of gloves when using the silky saw . I was cutting some very seasoned oak today and the saw just barely grazed my left index finger and it bit me pretty good, had to use some wound seal topical powder to stop the bleeding . I pit on a pair of leather gloves after that . The saw has earned my respect, I was very careful ,and am just posting this as a " one point lesson " - please guys use proper PPE " personal protective equipment : learn from my mistake. I'm 59 years old and a maintenance tech ,so I'm no stranger to tools .I should have known better . Thanks for the awesome work you put into your videos. They are the high point of my day !

I like the steel liner next to the blade pivot.
Lars I love that you are doing longer videos
Lars&fellow woods men, the silky is AWSOME saw & if you use it a lot & don't have the experience with it Mr Silky will give you a reminder of its potential. I used to work for a company&they supply you with a silky Zubat they nearly with drew them as so many lads were cutting them self's..
nice little saw
I have the F180... best saw for the money !
Very impressive saw. My next pruning saw will be a Silky saw.
You're ability to go to the forest makes me happy for you, and envious of you all at once
great saw so it seems,i have a small garden saw for many years, with a criss cross saw blade
I have a silky and still have my old bahco laplander. The silky is more expensive and more advanced in performance/teeth design. To me they are the best folding saws out there. However they are a pull saw design which some people have problems with and bent them(Lars's brother in law). My laplander is more forgiving and is a pull/push design overall it is slower in cutting.
I have that saw, my wife uses it as it is small and easy to use. I have several Silky saws and you can not beat them!
Great little saw.
Hey Lars! I have the F180 since spring in professional use for bigger cuts in fruittree surgery. It's very good and the price is fair. For dry wood there are smaller teeth with a green or a blue handle. The red one is actually for living wood. 👍
Good demo, and review.... love your tips and tricks....have fun. see you again in your next outdoor adventure. cheers
Great video Lars. First month on the job and you ate the unpaid 'Silky World-wide Salesman of the Month.' Great job, Greg
Excellent video. Great comparison on the saws. Yep those teeth are pretty Sharp LOL they cut gloves rather easily
Boy-o-boy, plenty of fodder for hungry Silkies, great location for the future camp. Respect.
That's a little beauty! The F180 costs $46 Australian (plus shipping) but I think it's well worth the money! Might just get myself one soon!
Nice one Lars , will be getting the F180 .
Lars, thanks for putting this video up. It helped me make my mind up about getting a Silky. Seeing the F180 do a rip cut was what sealed the deal.
Great review Lars! I just bought one and look forward to using it. Minor commet: the handle is polypropylene (and rubber), not glass fiber reinforced plastic. I am sure that doesn't matter though
Thanks for taking the time for the review... I have a Silky Bigboy, and love it... I'll be purchasing a few others in the future.
Good video. Stay warm
Not a “little guy, a little boy.” ;)
Ah.... The SNEE flys on the Taiga!
Quite a nice saw for the size.
Good handy saw compact thanks for good review
Hi Larz , i was impressed by your previous video on the silky folding blade .That i bought my Big Boy ,medium teeth . It lives up to it name ,cuts really well without using a lot of force on the blade .Swinging an axe for fire wood is tiring when camping ,But no more since i have this saw .In Australia costs $ 144 good value for a saw you can depend on.
During the spring/summer/autumn hiking around an Opinel saw has been enough, light, compact, good steel, wicked teeth but in winter you need more wood including for carving projects and you don't always want to hang around so your Silky looks like a good option.
Just bought one. It is ridiculously light weight and compact for what it can do! No excuse not to have it on you in the woods!
I just bought a non branded folding saw that looks very similar both in shape and size to that Silky F180, except from the folding mechanism tap that is made of metal and it doesn't have the ability to fold out in to different positions. I will try out my cheap saw first, and if it is not good enough, I will go for the Silky. I have my doubts about the blade quality, but you never know. It might surprise me.
I just purchased this saw based upon your AWESOME review!
Great video as always Lars! Neat little saw. Looks pretty alright for the money!
Thanks Lars .

Bed time for you over there here in California just lunch time . Happy trails .
Nice! You are aking my Walmart saw sad, haha.
The popularity of silky saws has taken of in NZ 6 months ago you struggled to find a stockist now they are stocked by the stihl franchise and the major hunting franchise stock pocketboys and the bigboys for hunters.
Thank you for the review of the F180. I'm getting one. Nice saw for camping.
Awesome video once again great demonstration of the silky saws
In case of the money shortage check the Husqvarna Klappsäge 220mm saw.
I think the Bahco has its place too. While I prefer the Silky for fire wood processing or shelter building (esp. the Big Boy), I prefer the Bahco for small bushcraft projects. The smaller finer teeth are good for small, precise cuts.

Just buy a spare Silky blade with fine teeth. It will be better and cheaper than a Laplander ;)
i just got my first Silky, the BIGBOY and it is awesome! I'm glad I got this instead of the ZUBAT, the long handle is great for using two hands, super-awesome! The thing just rips.
That little saw does serious work.
Bought one, works great really cuts fast. Like the pull stroke cut.
hello again Lars.loved the video.my backyard is forest so i get to try saws of all kinds and axes as well.have fun out there.
Look at lars going full AvE on the plastics lol. Great look at the saw, I may get into these guys for general sawing. They will be great for many application I would use a saw for, I'm no "survivalist" by any means, I just like being able to chop branches etc. without any fuss.

Silky make their saws for professional gardeners and arborists actually. They don't care much about the outdoors "scene" :) They tools just work.
Hej Lars. Thanks for an other good review on Silky Saws. Just got the F180, and it´s awsome! Cutting so much better than other folding saws I have used - now I just need to get a bigger one ;)
Thank you for this review. I think i will going to buy this silky f180
Good stuff Lars!
Definitely a saw for occasional backpackers, scouts, kayakers and others, that might make a small fire now and then. Nice video. :o)
The chain saw!
Keep up the great vids Lars, I own a couple of these saws and they are so easy to use a girl can buck up a a bit of firewood in no time!
Got one to carry in my bicycle panniers. Only $21 on Amazon.
Bought a Silky saw (pocket boy) on your recommendation. I'm not disappointed. Thanks for the great vids.

It's a great little tool :)
I have a Silky Sugoi 360. It's my big blade. Great saw. I also take the Bahco Laplander. The Silky just tears wood up. The Bahco does well for it's size and smaller tasks. I do like it too. I also have a Gerber it came with two blades. The wood has to be really dry when using the Gerber or the teeth get packed. Much less energy and fuel (food) used with a saw. I always throw one in my pack.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos brother, and that little saw looks very nice. Looks like I might have to add yet another Silky to my collection. The smallest Silky I have at the moment is the Bigboy, and I need a smaller one to help remove the limbs off fallen trees. I use most of my fallen timber for firewood at the house, we have an insert w/blower attachment. The wood-burner insert was actually a huge reason I bought this property, it will heat my entire house minus the back bedroom. Thanks for another awesome video Lars, have a great weekend.
Wow that's nice can't wait to buy one !!
I´d ask why you are so fond of saw, but as a avid follower I already know, haha
Silky Saws are Great Saws, I have three myself and would hate to be without them! Nice Review!! Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks for the video. This video made me want to buy a silky saw.
Got the Ultra Accel, and it is built like a tank! Lost teeth cutting antler and bone (lesson learned: silky on wood, Laplander on bone, antler, etc.). On wood, it's amazing. I opted for the curved blade, and it's exceptional. It doesn't pop out of the kerf nearly as easily as the straight edge versions. I had a long silky blade that broke right at the base given to me, and I am going to drill holes in it, cut the spine parallel to the edge, and use it in my takedown buck saw. I figure with the blade tensioned and supported on both ends, it should be difficult to bend it. The advantages of a buck saw and a silky combined. If Silky ever got into making buck saw blades, I think they would effectively conquer the saw market.
Fall has definitely set in there! Deep Snow is coming soon!
I bought this saw after seeing your vid keep up the good work lars
Great video and channel, thank you.
Thanks for another of your great videos, Lars! I got a Silky F180 a while ago based upon Nutnfancy's review, and like him, you really went over all the facts about this remarkably low priced, high quality portable saw. I enjoy all the videos you are making. Keep up the great work.

Lars, I can believe that! You two are so thorough, and you both value your independence, and trustworthiness (and we, your audience, can really tell that's the case). You both bring experience, and have a winning personality. Thanks for your comment!
Thank you, really useful.
Thanks Lars, i ihave the BIG boy, but love them so bought this one for my belt kit
Thanks for your thoughts and the demo of this more affordable option from Silky Lars. As it happens, I have literally just bought one of these! It all came about after i posted on IG about using a more aggressive blade on The Bahco 396 folding saws. I have been using a 7 TPI blade and find it far more efficient. It also doesn't have that stupid coating on the blades the Laplander versions have. Anyway, I fellow woodsman & greenwood worker had mentioned, he had similar experience with the Bahco blades, but had moved on to the Silky's. My colleagues and friends who are arborists also give me rave reviews, so I thought what the hell! I have been impressed with my Silky Takeru-Boy, so expect I'll appreciate the change. Thank again and stay warm and well. Thom
Great video as always. I love gomboy240 and pocketboy130, it’s so cheap in Japan.(gomboy240 is only $18!)
Thanks very good
Great review and share Lars. I mean, for the money, it's a no brainer mate. I am leaving for France and then Africa on Wednesday, first to the mountains and my Finnish cousin home in the Maritime Alps, fishing, camping and living in ancient village home, after that back to West Africa and work. I will pick up a Silky in Dinge before i leave. Cheers mate. ATB Moose.

The Saw man! :))
Thank you!
Hello Lars, I really like the 6TPI blade for our neck of the woods were the Hemlock, Spruce, Cedar, and Alder predominate. They are always very wet and the evergreens are full of pitch both features gum up a less coarse blade quickly and slow the cut. Where you are with dry wood a 9TPI must work well. Take care. Doug
Love the saws. I have 3 of them!
At some point I actually considered the Bahco Laplander. I can definitely say I'll be buying a Silky instead, thank you for the honest review!
Right on ! Thanks for doing it for us. Way cool
Might have to buy one of those bigger saws! Tell the folks that make 'em, I never heard of them before your videos.....now I want one......maybe more than one!

The silky gomboy is a great saw & I think a good saw to start with.
This has to be the best advert for Silky Saws ever, it has me hooked on them and the price is not really expensive if you want the best and use of tools that will rarely let us down. Nice one, Lars. Take care...
cheaper WORKS BUT THE FANCY WAY IS TO SAY MOST COST EFFECTIVE ,BUT CHEAP WORKS FOR ME . HAPPY TRAILS
Great vid mate
Man i love your videos , you are awesome , keep putting out these kick ass videos, totally would love to kick it with ya at some point 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 🤙✌️

good stuff thanks
After 30 years, using f180, and 20 other models. The f180 is the best, fastest, easiest, lightest, perfect balance, perfect grip- not too much, not too little. The blades come in 2 coarsenesses. Found them once for $22 and buying 10 at a time is not unusual.
Great video :)
Yeah i think i'll get one of those.
Can you send us some of them AK-47 Tree and Bush SEEDS please, lol

I'll take 2 seeds please. I'll even pay postage.
A decent review Lars, I replaced my Bahco with a Fiskars saw which is also a pull cut saw, about a year ago, I wouldn't go back to a push/pull cut saw after using my Fiskars and now I will be purchasing one of these Silky F180's to try out, it has always been the price of Silky's that has held me back, after all it is just a folding saw, a good one but still very expensive, cheers and atb to you and your family 👍🏻🇬🇧

Yes I know that some people is "afraid" of the price tags on some of the more expensive saws. So why not show some lower cost saws :)
@neanderthaloutdoors9202
6 жыл бұрын
Survival Russia haha I don't think "afraid" is the right word but yes they are expensive but you pay for quality I suppose, I like this F180 because it's lightweight and similar in size to the Bahco and Fiskars, thanks Lars 👍🏻🇬🇧
Hallo frå Norge. Love your videos Lars. but if you had to pick one of the saws for everyday camp chores, witch one would it be?
Wow, it's already snowing there.
Do you have a preferred TPI for your saws or would you say blade length is more important. I mean blade length is obviously important for thicker trees, but for cutting branches does it matter to have a longer blade or coarser/finer teething or neither?
I got the Silky Super Accel 21 with large teeth and I have been enjoying that quite a bit. I was wondering though, what gloves would you suggest for working outside in the winter?
