My bow recently came in, and I love it. It shoots nicely, can barely feel it wibbling in my hand. I’m a bad shot, but it just feels more “right” to even hold. The funny thing is that, for the first week or so, I’ve just been stringing it each day. Somehow, even stringing the bow is just fun. AF Archery is good AF.

I love this bow! It shoots as good as my Korean bows that are twice the price. The bamboo makes for a fast and smooth shot. I picked one up for each of my family and we love them. My only complaint is that I have a 32" draw and the 45 lbs stacks a bit a past 29".

Great review. Also, I love that you shoot it with a thumb draw - you shoot great! Keep making vids like these. Totally agree that AF makes great and affordable bows for people to try and that later people can feel confident of getting higher-priced bow brands.

Great video Scott, as usual. I love the look of that bow, it's very like the KG Osprey that I have, although an Osprey is around 64 inches and mine is now a wall hanger as I've said earlier. @@ScottWinters kinesiology tape works real well to cover the arrow pass. it adds almost no extra arrow pass width and you can make it look seamless if you take your time. till rip eventually but a roll will probably last you a life time.

Such a beautiful bow! Thanks for taking the time to show it to us. While the bone insert is sightly noisy, I don't think it's nearly as bad as some of the other arrow rests out there, and it probably protects the bow when using carbon fiber arrows.

You should check out Charlie Greenberg. That guy took Asiatic archery to extreme levels. And I'm not exaggerating, he invented a whole new sport of running archery, it's insane. If you want to really get inspired to get into Asiatic and eastern European archery, that should definitely seal it for you.

I bought this bout about 6 months ago and I only just found this vid. Great video mydude. I love this bow I've decorated it a bit with fox fur under the handle and cave man style art on the limbs. It shoot like a bolt of lightning and im very excited to take it up on the hill in three weeks. The only thing I had to get used to is the long draw length. I only draw it to 29 and the ability to draw further sometimes affects my anchor point. I've learned that I shoot better sitting down that may just be me and how I've practiced but its a fantastic bow. Will update upon shooting of a deer.

Welcome to eastern style archery. As an Asian archer, I'm glad to see the western world joining our style of archery. I've been doing archery for over 10 years. The first time I pulled out my korean bow, people thought it was a toy, until they saw me shooting arrow as fast as their compound bows. Then their jaws dropped. 😆 🤣 archery,. @@ScottWinters I’ve had the takedown version about a year. Armin Himer reviewed it about 15 months ago on KZread. Once strung, you don’t know or feel that it’s a takedown. It is solid. They go up to 50 pounds draw weight. It looks almost exactly like the one that you have and shoots great! It has gone up in price since I bought mine. The last time I looked, the price had increased by $50. I hope this helps.

I actually have an appointment to see my surgeon on Tuesday and hope he can tell me my pancreas isn't killing itself anymore, and hoping the blood clot in the artery of my spleen has shrunk from the blood thinners I'm on. So if it's not asking too much, maybe you can say a prayer for me that God continues to workout this healing miracle going on inside me! The doctor's are shocked at how quickly I healed & got out of the hospital for my age, having four surgeries within a month, and almost dying twice! But we know why, it's because of all the good people that prayed for me! Besides, if God has allowed me to pass, who would be breaking your stones over your archery? 😆 😜🏹🎯🤕🦃

I have this bow the oak Tatar (50) and I use electrical tape on the arrowpasses. I love this bow it's very forgiving well compared to my short bows I shoot normally.

Thank you my friend. The arrows are made by Linkboy. 500 spine and 32 inches in length. Insert is a 50 grain with a 125 grain field tip. Bare shafts at 32 inches are 7.9 grains per inch. Completed they come in at about 462 grains and at a 35 pound draw weight the are approximately 13.9 grains per pound. I think I got the specs right from memory. I agree. I have three of them from 2016. They were longer then with a 130cm/51in string. Smooth, fast, quiet, no vibration/shock. Shoot as well as my friends' Salukis, which really pisses them off. ;)

Holy wow! You have got a ton of views on this video already! I think the arrow pass noise will go away the more you shoot it? I am not sure if I hear that on my bow, or I just never noticed. I will have to check mine and get back to you on that.

i quite like my AF bow but mine came in way under weight. it was not until later that i learned AF, and most of the chinese makers, measure draw length to the throat of the grip exactly. not 1.75 inches in front of the throat like the "west". so for example, a 30 pound AF bow will be 30 pounds at 29.75 inches using the western AMO method. order 5 pounds more than your usual weight.

When I looked it up, it specified compound bows as the only times you measure 1.75" in front of the bow... I see plenty of western archers measuring from the front edge of the handle...?

I have always measured from the front of the shelf and tried to make sure I have at least 1 inch of arrow out front. Can’t say that I always do. Really for safety more than anything, especially if you use broad heads. Appreciate your time my friend.

I haven't tried that draw weight yet with this one. I would say you can't go wrong with it now matter what draw weight you go with. It's a solid bow, well constructed, and shoots extremely well. I've a question about my draw weight. I'm a beginner, at archery class I shoot with 26, 28 and I also tried the 34. I struggle with the 26, I'm quite short and I feel I can't give enough power to the arrow. When I asked to AF archery, with my size and draw lenght (24) and my height 150cm they advised me the 20, but I feel it will be even worst than the 26. I would like to know, as it's a traditional horsebow maybe it's right to low the draw weight. I'm thinking to buy at least the 25lbs. May I also ask, what kind of arrow should I buy for this kind of bow? thank you!

In my honest opinion, a lower draw weight is good to get the fundementals down. A low draw weight will still produce good results with the right arrows. If you are struggling at 26 lbs of draw weight I would stay in the 20 to 25 range for a while. Actually the 20 lbs weight would not be bad at all for building strength and honing in your fundementals. I would prefer proper form anchor and release over being able to draw the heaviest bow, and doing so with bad mechanics. The goal is to start where you can comfortably draw and for longer periods of time. The long goal is to build up to higher weights. As for arrows look for arrows with a low gpi while shooting lower draw weights. The low gpi will make the arrow lighter and increas arrow speed and perceived power. When you do build up strength and increase draw weights you can move up in arrow weight as well. Also arrow length for your draw length I would stay 30 inches or shorter, but not too much shorter. Look for 600 or 700 spines and you should be good. I hope I helped you and I hope I didn't confuse the question. Feel free to contact me again for any help or advice you need. @@Flyingalpaca If you pull a hard to pull bow (not impossible) a few times on each side, once or a few sets per day... Try and sleep well. You will get stronger very fast. Doing it daily is more important than doing a lot each session when it comes to learning and building muscles... I like shooting a bow that is quite easy to pull, and pulling a bow that is hard to pull for strength. Using both sides as equally as possible is best from a medical perspective as well as is what most traditions teach... EDIT, oh, and you might be surprised how much more you need to eat when building muscles... If you find yourself feeling weak and downspirited a lot when exercising every day, it might be that you just need more calories as your body is trying to build and improve.

If you wanted to, can you use this for a hunting?

5:24 use keys "" to see the shot frame by frame (thx for 60 fps). Why do you need Khatra if you can't time it? The arrow is already off the bow when you starting the motion :) It's clearly visible on the frame by frame watching.... Khatra is a sharp movement. You have to hit the window when arrow just detached from the string yet stays in between handle and string. Try Torque instead of sidedown (difficult) Khatra. Torque is much easier to do.

I could see why people would like one or the other, they do feel very different to draw and shoot even though both are similar in draw length, speed and preferred arrow weights... That Sipahi shape with its spring-like feel might be my favorite as well... The Tatar shape is super easy to string, has a softer draw feeling, The Sipahi shape is more like a spring that just stacks more and more towards the max draw... Gives it a springy feeling...
