Aesthetic PA Injector Vlog (How I got into Cosmetic Medicine as an Urgent Care PA)
Hi Everyone!!
I know its been a while since I last posted a KZread video, I am trying to pump them out faster.. slowly but surely you'll get some content!!
In this video, I will be taking you my process of studying cosmetic medicine while working as an urgent care PA. I used the course Supervision180 to gain foundational knowledge of the anatomy and uses of both neurotoxin and fillers. Getting into this field as a physician assistant with no experience is difficult. However, I was able to get a few job offers by being aggressive with my job hunt, completing courses and my online social media presence. I was able to land a position as an aesthetic PA injector that I am SO excited about in Miami!!!! The beauty collective is called Alexis Lauren and will be opening in the fall of 2022. Until then, I will be continuing to study botox and fillers and get some hands on experience with instructors.

I love how you take notes on your ipad! Can you go into a little more detail on how you went about doing this/what programs you use if you haven’t already?? I’ve been considering making the switch from standard note-taking.

Hello Dani you are doing great. I doubt when we choose our specialization like ( emergency care) before applying to PA school or at the start of the course or after completion of PA .
Hi! Experienced PA (ER and GYN) here, looking to get into cosmetic medicine & I am STRUGGLING. I just watched your video on your application process as a new grad PA and I am just wondering how you found multiple aesthetics PA job listings? Did you primarily apply online or call around as you discussed in the other video? Also, did you find the course significantly helped with your job hunt? I keep seeing mixed advice online about taking courses prior to securing a job but have definitely been leaning towards just signing up for a course to get my foot in the door. Thank you!!!

Hey! Dysport technically requires more units, but only because their unit size is different (ex 50 Dysport = 20 Botox) but it isn’t actually more as far as volume. And it is absolutely just as effective, if not more effective :-)

Yes, definitely effective!! Injectors have to become familiar with the dosing because the ratio is not as simple as Botox.

I love this! I have always said that I think the smartest plan is to be a nurse first, then go to PA school! You get the best of both worlds that way! Good luck on your journey.

A 'PA' or 'physician assistant' is not a doctor. They assist the doctor. Two different titles. Two different jobs.

I am glad that such injections and interventional procedures cannot be delegated to PAs in Germany. They are the core tasks of physicians (MDs). We recognized early that the potential complications of a hyaluronic acid misinjection, or thrombophlebitis from a simple blood collection can be very annoying. Good medicine is often the result of solid experience, of course, but one should not underestimate the scientific background of this art. Greetings from Germany. Dr. C, MD

PAs in the US go through 6.5 years of schooling which is equivalent in length to a German MD degree. Unless MDs go through a cosmetic residency or have extensive injecting experience, they are as likely to cause complications in the beginning stages of their careers as a newly trained PA.
