Aeroflot Seeks To Cancel SSJ100 & Tu-214 Orders & Only Purchase MC-21 Aircraft

Ойын-сауық

Aeroflot has announced that it wants to cancel the orders it holds for 89 Superjet 100s and the 40 Tu-214s. Instead, the carrier plans to increase its MC-21 order from 270 to 339. All three jets mentioned are domestically produced Russian aircraft, with the country’s airlines currently barred from acquiring western aircraft due to sanctions.

The Sukhoi Superjet has previously been exported to Armenia, Belgium, and Mexico. All lessors returned them due to problems acquiring spare parts (even before the "special military operation").

Also Thailand, for government use. Not sure how many they have, but I can confirm at least one that is still in use.

The Mexican budget airline that bought the SSJ was already financially stressed for many years, their plan to save by buying "Cheap SSJ" to some local news and analysts was the final nail in the coffin. By the time they declared their bankruptcy more than half their SSJ fleet had become hangar queens used to cannibalize parts.

competition drives innovation...the 737 and A320 fuselages were introduced decades ago and the MC-21 had real potential to break the duopoly between Boeing and Airbus the program just need money....now without access to the advanced composite tooling for the wings the MC-21 is now overweight and inefficient...still I'd love to here those aviadvigitel engines

Russian carriers have to shift to flying domestic jets amid draconian sanctions imposed by the West which are way more technologically behind both in terms of the aerodynamics and range.

Why only simply flying talks about 6 ton increase in weight, and reduced flight ceiling. They're not attributing any reasons for the deviation from the original specs. Is it due to heavier engine, heavier wings, landing gear is not specified by Simply flying. It appears the opinions are motivated by vested interest in debunking the aircraft. Who knows maybe sponsored by Boeing or Airbus.
