    At the start of the video you showed that the 320mm SE wing produced 116kg of downforce at 100kph but only 256kg of downforce at 300kph. That implies that the CL of the wing is basically quartered at 300kph. While the actual performance of the wing is obviously not going to scale perfectly with the lift equation, this relative loss in performance at higher velocities seem quite a lot compared to the dual element model that you showed, as well as wings from other brands like APR Racing and 9 Lives. Can you comment on this?

  • @damncritics

    @damncritics

    29 күн бұрын

    @@RDSAlphard Correct, and it can also be extremely difficult to install on something that needs to be street legal because you need to get rid of the resonator to make space for the diffuser, or extend it past the rear of the car which means it would block the exhausts. Not impossible for sure, but it's a LOT easier to get the downforce from a wing in free air. A splitter as you say would help to balance the car but something that's effective is going to be difficult to install because you would need a front diffuser, and to make that work you need to vent it into and out of the wheel wells which again, involves quite a lot of body work. Effective front splitters are also going to have the issue of being affected by bumps in the road and changes in ride height, both of which make it difficult to work on a road car.

    Underrated features: modularity, inserts for alignment, and DAT TRUNK BRACE BAYBEE! Would it be possible in the future to build full CF trunk lids with those braces and mounting points already molded into them? That way the force from the uprights could be more easily spread across the entire lid!

    I have an old 280hp Audi TT with bucket seats and no carpets (+coilovers, brembo brakes, lightweight wheels) just for occasional trackdays. I see other people in the same car with giant wings fitted. However, I'm honestly not sure I ever get fast enough to properly use or activate downforce. My nearest track is pretty small and I only hit about 180kmh at the end of the main straight, the fastest corner is more like 120kmh and the rest of the track is slower than that.

    Over here in Au, cops are attracted to cars with non standard wings. Your street legal wing looks a bit daggy and imo doesnt enhance the look of the car when going to car meets but i get it and like the way you can extend it for track days so it's functiinal. I think rhe ideal wing is one that looks factory and cool for cruising the streets then can be extended for functional track days. An example of a wing I'd buy is one that can be mounted to the factory mounts on my Evo for track days then taken off to go back to oem wing for road driving to look cool.

Like, maybe a table of downforce and drag at every possible angle of attack (as far as I've read it's 3 degrees increments until 18 degrees max), using the same sample wing size (that would be lovely to mention too) as the existing downforce numbers. By the looks of it, it seems like the current numbers are taken at around 6-9 degrees angle of attack?

    I’m interested in seeing how you guys will perfect the aero balance once you do push the limits. When that happens, my question then will be “How similar or different is the balance when compared to Porsche or Manthey?” (Because I believe that those two are the top two in any order you like😅)

    Excellent. So what should someone expect with the full kit on, wing and front splitter? Is there going to be a rear diffuser, too? I wonder what a Team Schirmer M2 can do with it. Finally, though highly improbable, I would have loved to hear what my absolute favourite BMW tuner/race person would say about it. That is Steve Dinan (of Carbahn). Just enjoy your dream coming true. Both of you.

    Wing and splitter. Diffuser optional, needs exhaust mod to be functional.
