    Just want to say that seeing these mechanics officially implemented and expanded on is excellent. It's very encouraging that the game will not only be good, but actually have enough distinct reasons to be played, and not simply make people wonder "Why don't I just go play F-Zero X/GX instead?". Admittedly not too fond of the flat/material UI, though. One of the few games to actually catch my attention in a long time, hope to see you succeed.

    Yeah, these advanced mechanics add enough depth that people will likely be finessing the optimum racing lines for quite a while, i reckon. Hopefully, the final courses have more a more GC GX trackside aesthetic rather than 64 X sparseness to them as well. I agree about the UI also - they need to be easily legible at a glance, but the speedometer/lap count/race position, etc need to pop out of the screen for max hype when necessary. All very good so far though!

    I feel like naturally baking the advanced tech into the game is an idea Nintendo would never consider. Miyamoto would be stuck trying to make motion controls work in a game that's too fast for them to be good. Handling the tech like this makes the game more accessible. It's so much fun to do the drill dives and hyper slides.

    A few things I'd love to see in the final release: 1) Some practice tracks, or real ones, to specifically help work on each advanced tech. 2) The ability to bind two buttons to an action; I'm running toggle accelerate with the auto-attack, boost, and break on my right stick (makes extending hyper-slides way easier), there are moments where I'd prefer the -- now free -- button for boosting. 3) Button combos; I initially tried sharing the auto-attack with strafe (figured I wouldn't be using the opposite strafe when HS), it _almost_ worked, just the strafing usually took over 4) Mode shifting to alter your controls mid-race. I'm finding with my control setup wishing I could temporarily switch certain actions off.

    Thanks so much! I needed this since I was having trouble getting the best results from Drill Dive and the Hyper Slide (especially w/ the high slide stat car). Gonna keep playing the demo tomorrow! And good luck on the rest of development for Aero GPX!

    The drill dive is so fun to use that I just kinda go for it whenever I get the chance. Of course I veer off the track trying to land it but IT WAS STILL FUN!

    The mechanics look WONDERFUL. The aesthetics/sound design seem early stage, but that's fine as the game is still in dev. But for inspiration, I'd love to recommend looking towards military fighter/spy plane aviation. E.G. I feel like the SR-71 Blackbird scaled down into a racer sized machine would make a phenomenal speed demon of a machine with a massive acceleration and speed, but taking corners with it might need a bit of mastery. Similarly, something like the F-22 Raptor in racer mode might be a more balanced machine with great cruising, cornering, and so on, but you wouldn't want to get into a smashing fight with other fatter vehicles. Also, the soundtrack...I'm sure there are so many badass video game metal artists here on KZread, such as Stone McKnuckle, GaMetal, and possibly even HalcyonicFalconX (aka Phyrnna) that might love to be a part of an F-Zero spiritual successor OST. In any case, you definitely have a KZread sub from me--I am *so* excited to see where this goes.

    *Wii comes* Me: "Where muh F-Zero" *Wii U comes* Me "Uh...where my F-Zero?" Nintendo: *Hands Mario Kart 8* Me: "BUT NOBODY EXPLODES AND FLIES OFF THE MAPS" *Switch comes* Me: "Where my F-Zero?!" Nintendo: *Hands Mario Kart 8 again* Me: "Awww..... no" Aaron McDevitt: "lol here" The spin on the wall for a boost is a great feature, gives the combat mechanics more room to breathe outside of engagement. Also seems like it will add more variety into time-attack modes. Somehow you're the only developer who seems to "get" f-zero after Platinum. Thanks, man

    This is so sick. Is the advanced tech like quick turning/hypersliding in this game just a natural result of the physics system (probably like it was in GX)? Or was each technique manually implemented. Just curious from a dev standpoint, if you're down to say.

    Nothing feels quite as godly as hyper-sliding at 3000+km/h in Thread the Needle I gotta say, but hey I didn’t know that you could force a hyperslide state by holding both triggers! That’s handy knowledge for non-drift cars

    Hey thanks I had questions about some of these techniques! One thing, is momentum throttling in the game? Do you decelerate slower when not holding the gas, so after hitting peak speed you let off the gas to coast for some time before re-engaging the accelerator?

    That Hyperslide almost seems like a gateway to Snaking. Was that intentional, or will it more likely be toned down if you try that? Also, will the Shift Boosts come back on wall-less courses where you boost MASSIVELY if you can save yourself from falling off?

    So I thought I was hypersliding but actually I was strafing *into* the corner. So I would be holding the left strafe while boosting in a left corner. It makes me turn tighter while still retaining good speed. Is this also an advanced technique worthy of the name or is this an inferior way of taking corners?

    I randomly saw the trailer for this, I think on steam? I forget, but thought it looked pretty fun. then today I saw Myrone, who I'd been following for a while, posted a music clip from this on SoundCloud and thought "Hey, cool." Then later tonight I saw a couple of demo videos pop up here and thought I'd take a quick look at the mechanics, had no idea the first video would be by the developer. Hope those are good signs for this game.

    I remember discovering the quickturn in F-Zero GX by myself, and I felt like a god using it. Played that game so much that every subsequent racer I played just didn't feel right. I'd still input the quickturn in those games even when it didn't do anything; the habit was baked into me so hard. Being able to do it again is gonna feel so good.

    Is what you call 2D steering not a standard ? I've been doing it thinking it wasn't anything special since 2013 on MK7. Or maybe I'm not seeing the nuance compared to how it works when 2D steering isn't there, and to be fair I haven't played many analogue stick-based racing games. Anyway, the demo alone is great and congrats on reaching your kickstarter goal.

    I'm not sure if the Mario Kart games are actually taking the Y-axis into account or not; but I know for sure that 2D steering (as it is implemented in Aero GPX) gives a huge range of values not possible with normal X-axis steering. There's also the benefit of friction on the gate of the analog stick helping even in games that don't have proper 2D steering implementation, too. Glad you enjoyed the demo; thanks for playing!

    Thanks a lot Aaron ! Drill dive seems a lot easier than I thought it was, I'm gonna work on that ! Also funny to think that I didn't though, even for a second, that the spin grind was an intentional mechanic. I saw it in Valyssa's impressive run, but years of playing nintendo games with unintentional mechanics has fcked my brain aha and btw, ALMOST FUNDED LET'S GO (3k left when writting this comment)

    Nintendont will see this game skyrocket into success and maybe they'll try to make a F-zero again to get back the success this game has (Metroid 2 remake and AM2R exemple) and even if I would love a new F-Zero, nintendo doesnt deserve this IP and I would be happy with aero gpx getting the success F-Zero deserve and not nintendo (still waiting for a lot of other forgotten nintendo liscence, but with Aero GPX I have a follow up to my favorite game)

    A control scheme optimized for 2D steering would be something like Redout's twin stick scheme I think, with left stick only being in charge of steering and right one doing pitching (it also does strafe in Redout but that might feel wrong in a more F-Zero-like game). I've also seen Wipeout players using motion controls to pitch on PS4, again unburdening left stick from it, it's more relevant there since you can pitch while "grounded".

    Personally I'm not all that excited for this title. I've loved all the F-Zero games and have 100% completed F-Zero GX (GCN) at least 5 times now, but this game just looks... bland. Not bad! But, bland... like it has the proper foundation but none of the bells and whistles, and for a lot of players I'm sure that's enough! I'm not judging anyone who enjoys these games. But as someone who has always enjoyed F-Zero... I'm just not about the "exploits"... maybe it's just me? I just don't like how you have to grind up against the guardrails in order to eek out a few extra seconds to get a lap record, or use an attack animation to speed you up around turns... I just want pure racing, and again, maybe that's just me? I don't know... I guess I'm just one of those people who doesn't like exploits in speed runs.
