AEG WASHING MACHINE || 10 Reasons Why they are Best .. | AEG 9000 Series Washing Machine - L9FEC966R

AEG Washing Machine..should you buy one? I give YOU, the consumer, the info you need to make a smart purchase. In this review, I review the AEG 9000 Series Washing Machine, model number L9FEC966R.
I think these machines give you the best BALANCE in terms of performance and value for money:
What sets AEG washing machines apart are the things like:
Features
Build quality
Durability
Warranty
Wash performance
Spin performance
Innovation in the field
Brand prestige
Simplicity and lack of gimmicky features
Value for money
NOTES FROM THE VIDEO:
1. My washing machine: AEG ProSteam Technology L9FEC966R - I got it on sale for about 30% off the RRP
2. Remember, this is just my opinion based on what I have seen. I am not saying AEG washing machines are proven to be the best!
3. Link to the video about Samsung machines I mentioned: • Do not buy Samsung fro...
4. SoftWater Technology is one of my favourite features from AEG. The machine has a salt drawer which you fill up with regular dishwasher salt. This means you can use less detergent in your washes - this means fewer impurities chemicals circulating your machine. This can only be a good thing!
5. Okomix Technology - this is another one of my favourite features. Okomix technology refers to how the washing machine dispenses detergent into the drum. The machine first pre-mixes any chemicals with water (e.g. detergent/fabric softener). This means there is an even distribution of detergent inside the drum, which leads to better overall performance

We have an AEG Oko_Lavamat 86800 update. Opened the rear a few days ago, still has the original belt. What impressed me the most, how tough and solid was the metal chassis used as a weight balancing mechanism. The machine is damn heavy, but absolutely solid. Over 10 yrs old, was a hand me down and we've had it for 9 yrs. Never been serviced. 1600rpm. Kicks ass! 😂 You can't beat AEG. Solid as a rock! 😊👍😊👍. Looking to upgrade as the dispenser packed up 8 months ago and we can't get parts because it's so old. 🤣 Great video, to the point, and thank you for keeping it real. 👍😊 Cheers young man. John. I have had my AEG 9000 series 9Kg machine for 3 years now and it has been absolutely brilliant. Quiet, straight forward to use, fantastic spin speed with clothes feeling almost dry when removed from the machine. Could not agree more with all your positive observations.

Nice review from a aesthetics perspective, but from an engineering standpoint AEG would not come up best. 1. @ 75db spinning, they are among the loudest on the market, not one AEG is quietmark certified, whereas Miele, Whirlpool/New Hotpoint H8 range, LG, Samsung and even Haier group machines are all over 3 db quieter, which equates to 50% quieter. 2. The doors are no more better built than other manufacturers , all made from PolyP with plastic bushing on metal hinges. 3. AEG use Suspa soft start dampers, which are designed to reduce vibration through to the shell, others like Bosch an Miele also use these same dampers, but these two Bolt the dampers to the frame securely, unfortunately AEG only use plastic pins to secure the dampers, resulting in a kind of clattering effect when starting up the spin. 4. AEG like Bosch and Many other Brands on the market, used welded drums, so if the bearing fails, it’s bye bye washing machine, or a hefty repair bill, A Miele can have its bearing replaced at a fraction of the cost, even Haier and Hisense drums are still bolted so they can be split to replace bearings. 5. Like steam, the soft water dispenser is also a gimmick, its a shame they did not put auto dose on them instead as anyone can buy a household filter system that softens water to the whole house, which negates the need for built in softener on any machine. 6. AEG like all brands bar Miele use wire infused concrete counter weights and plastic tubs, Miele use cast iron weights and stainless tubs (on their higher end machines), although it is rare that a concrete weight does not outlast the machine, so Mieles cast weight is somewhat in vein, AEG top end machines use Carboran outer tubs which is significantly stronger than some steels and was first used in Zannusi machines and is a plus on their part. 7.As an engineer who has pulled many machines apart, I could not say that the modern AEG units are any better built than Whirlpool/Hotpoint or Haier, Samsung or LG, they all have their quirks and plus and minus points. 8. Good balancing is always a plus point, Some machines allow a fuzzy logic spin like AEG, which allows a level of out of balance to be acceptable, and others like Haier and Fisher Paykel and even the new Whirlpool W8 won’t spin unless the load is more balanced (this is my preference) however some will complain the machine is too sensitive or fussy, but from an engineering perspective, the smoother the better, as it equals less wear, less stress and less noise. 9. While a lot of people bang on about Miele being the best bla bla: yes Miele are better put together and the quality of some materials used is better, but their machines are not ‘from an engineering perspective’, the best. They like other manufacturers have their weaknesses, Miele W1 units for one, are probably one of the worse machines at balancing and spinning a load smoothly, their spring system is one of the noisiest on the market, their plastic facias are no more durable than most other brands, Also, other brands like AEG etc allow you to purchase spares off the shelf from many outlets, unfortunately Miele try to keep spares only available via them, and at a premium. 10. AEG may be a renowned brand, but the market is changing and other players are around now that are starting to do it better, like Fisher Paykel etc, and may be worth a look.

@@propercushty Hi, I found your "review" quite interesting, I find the Steam+ option good, we had an Aqualtis a few years ago & the Steam Hygiene option did the same thing, a period of steam at the end of the "Wash" phase of the cycle. The "OkoMix" is actually ÖkoMix, pronouced errr-ko, not Oh-ko as you referenced, it sounds German, just as the Míele brand, in German is actually pronounced Mee-luh, just so you know. Also the "wheel" you referenced is actually the programme knob. We have an AEG Protex+ Lavamat Turbo L87696WD washer dryer, same spec as yours, 09KG washing, 06KG drying or 06KG/06KG Wash & Dry, with a 1600RPM spin dry speed. My favourite feature is, if it's set to drying, even just a 10 min cool tumble, it changes the spin pattern from one close to what your model does, to what Bosch call IVS, or me, IVSD, Interval Spin Dry (I've attached a link to the example below 02:28 > 41:42) kzread.info/dash/bejne/q5yV1Jmhe6WcgZs.html We bought ours in the Black Fri-Sale at the price you mentioned, but got £100 cashback. The acoustic signals can be turned off on your machine if you want, and the cycle complete signal is three plain bleeps in rounds of five or six every 30 seconds.

@@propercushty Our Lavamat Turbo was made/built one week prior to our ordering it, so around 23rd Nov 2015, it's 07yrs old this year, but as I'm an appliance fanatic/collector, it's not been heavily used, as I have between 05 & 08 other washer dryers as my collection, and the L87696WD's the "household" machine. If you look at the rating sticker inside the door and let me know the serial code, I can find out when exactly your model was made, if you're interested.

Great review. I would have bought AEG had I not been introduced to Miele. I'm from Canada but live in Australia, so we have UK/Euro sized machines, with some "American" sized ones. This machine impresses me a lot. Bought my Mieles in 2012 so a decade ago and still amazing, great door (looks just like your AEG), weighs 98kgs! Super quiet and efficient. But if they go, touch wood, probably go AEG....

AEG washers are not the quietests but ye... The Ökopower programm is very good programmed, would like to have that cycle. And another reason why this AEG is good is that its so energy efficiënt! A+++-65%. I had an LG after a great Zanussi and it is really bad🤮. I mostly buy Electrolux made things now :). Also, somtimes Zanussi gives 4 year warranty too. Great video! Subscribed! :)

Hello mate thanks for the great feedback! I was thinking efficiency as a point actually, but I know some companies 'fiddle the numbers' a bit when it comes to that so I don't know which numbers to trust! Yeah totally agree - they're not the quietest but they're far from being the loudest too. I think the one I've got is definitely below average especially for a 1600 spin model. Mate don't get me started on LG machines :'( - my previous one had everything go wrong with it. I couldn't believe it because everyone told me LG machines have excellent reliability! The touch screen failed, the door fell off, the steam programme stopped working and the suspension started playing up (all within a couple of years). And to top it off, they promised me a 5 year warranty, but then they didn't even honour it because they say I didn't fill in a form! (I did register the 5 year warranty over the phone so they lied about that one!) Overall, from what I've seen, I just like the quality, features, price and the feeling I get from AEG. I like Miele too, but they're far too expensive I think, and when they go wrong (yes people, they do go wrong sometimes) the engineer charges are through the roof! Cheers for subscribing mate :) To tell you the truth, I wish I could review more washing machines but it's such a difficult thing to do properly because you need so much space! I subscribe back! I like the drum'n'bass music in your videos man made me laugh :')

Nice breakdown. We're now in the market for a new machine and it's going to be either an Aeg or Bosch. We're looking at the 7000 and 8000 series because they have autodose.(at Bosch it's the 6 and 8 series) The app is imo a very nice option especially because we usually don't have specific times to her home if we're going somewhere with the kids. So if it takes longer we can start the wash when we leave our just before. But Samsung is not on the level of Aeg and Bosch. It's in the class with LG and if I'm not mistaken LG is even better. Miele is nr.1 but imo not worth the extra over Aeg and Bosch as usually within 7-10 years it's more cost effective to get a new machine. Aeg and Bosch will outlive that time period easy. Miele is the only thats tests for 20 years of use(20000 washing hours) and if a machine doesn't make the cut they won't take it into production.

What I don't like about the AEG machines is that they have a sealed drum meaning you cannot change the bearings. In other words, it will be a "ships anchor" and need to go to the dump in 5 to 10 years. By that I mean it will not be economical to repair if you have to buy an entire drum assembly when the bearing go.

it might also have to do with the quality of the counterweight - for example, Miele machines I've seen in the past had cast iron counterweights as opposed to concrete. When I was in the market for a Miele (Spring 2020ish) the ones with 9kg+ drums were all around £1000-1300 with the 5 year or 10 year warranty (some came with a 2 year warranty if you can believe). So I calculated it would be about £3-600 more than the AEG, same warranty, but the AEG had a few more features that I liked (like the Softwater, Okomix, Steam etc). I remember the frustrating thing with the Miele machines was many of the higher models give you the TwinDos system, which I was not interested in paying for as I like to use powder detergent. However, if you like liquid detergent this would probably a nice feature to have. Both are great, simple-to-use machines I think!

@@propercushty Yes powder detergent cleans very good, it doesn't leave a fatty-film on the drum. From the tests here in Belgium, choose house brand from Supermarket, equally as good as a big-name product.

@@ga12f12o yeah I agree, I always used to use liquid detergent and then realised it was ruining my machine. Also, powder detergents contain bleaches which help sterilize the inside of your machine. I believe liquid detergents don't contain bleaches, so better for breeding bacteria! Yes, the brand doesn't make too much difference. The powder at Lidl and Aldi in the UK is just as good as the premium brands (but they are often sold out!)

The tune when they finish the cycle - pretty annoying but very useful when the machine is outside on a balcony for example in SEA.Otherwise you forget you have to hang the clothes on the line! (I bet ppl in SEA love the tune, btw.. :-D )
