Watching this carefully, at 2:04 Gabby put her head down and was willing, and V3 started off right raising his wings and moving closer to her, but he just didn't flap his wings to elevate up to mount properly. Gabby looked over at him and got annoyed as if to yell..."Your not doing it right!" Poor V3 after that. This really breaks my heart for him. Oh please dear God, grant this young Eagle of yours the knowledge to mate properly.

He looks like he got his feelings hurt, 😢😂

Yes he did look a little dejected didn't he? Good thing eagles move on to the next task at hand and don't dwell on any failures like us humans do! He will be successful one day soon!! ♥

Maybe Gaby will decide to train him, like Harriet did with her kick, to let him know that this is the place and this is the moment to make his move. ❤ Don't give up V3!

I hope they mate and have Eaglets so I can suggest ...Jedi for his name...you have a perfect name for him. The Young Jedi is leaning the ways of Eagle love and he is a warrior about it ....he keeps learning and trying and defending the nest and Gabby ! Love the name Jedi.

Hi Eileen thank you! I think Jedi is just a cute endearing nickname for him - but he will always be V3 until AEF gives him a real name! I was thinking the same as you - he is a young fighter learning the ways of love. It does not come easy at times!! ♥

Hi Kylie I think Gabby will continue to stay with V3 - she likes him and they do have a bond built already. Eagles usually do not mate on the nest so V3 is trying to do something that is normally awkward at best and he is trying to do something he has never done before. I think he will be more successful if he tries while on a branch - that will allow Gabby to assume the pose and also use her talons to hang on while V3 mounts her. And that will take practice too - V3 might slip off lol but he stands a far better chance a successful copulation that way ♥ V3 is a sweet loyal and devoted partner for Gabby - I hope that it works out for them ♥ His instincts are leading him in the right path!!! @kylie5657 Hi Kylie❣️ Let's hope she does stick it out with him, until he can figure things out. Hopefully, her hormones won't gain control, and another "capable" dude doesn't come along! And, hopefully, her "complaining" won't discourage him.🙏 That was a little difficult to watch! I really feel bad for him, as he still seems to be stuck in the same "swish swish" mode. Someone suggested we send him a ladder.🪜😊 Today's update: Neither of them came to the nest overnight. He came in at around 5:20am, nest time, alone. He stayed until about 10:00am. At around 11:30am, Gabby flew in with a squirrel. He came shortly afterwards, and she moaned and squawked at him to stay away. He wisely stopped and perched instead of coming to the nest. She ate the squirrel, and he waited. When she was done, she flew to LOP. He waited, I guess to see if she would go to the nest, which she didn't do, and he left at about 12:30pm. She's been at the nest perched and digesting her meal, and as of 5pm, he hasn't returned. Hopefully, he found some good food, as well.❤ I'm still having internet connection issues. Long story! Apparently, someone goofed up and lots of people had issues, as a result.🤷‍♀️ If anything of special interest occurs, I will let you guys know. @kylie5657 Hi Kylie❣️ V returned right after I posted my last comment. Lol! Isn't that always the way!! 😂 They stayed around until about 6pm, or so, and then they flew to the LY. They had two short nest visits, which were nice, but nothing happened! 🤭 I think they are both mystified and confused as to what to do about this problem they have been dealt!🤔 Harriet would have been kicking him and jumping on his back, by now. Maybe, that's what Gabby will eventually have to do. But, it's a risk! He may get really freaked out! 🤯 He might leave and fly to Canada, in fear of her! 🤣 Just kidding! 🤩 Although, I think this last attempt did unnerve him a bit, when she wailed and scolded him. 🫣 I don't watch the cams all day, but, if something is happening, I do keep them open and I can hear them, etc. I use several screens to monitor cams and chats. Plus, I speak to other viewers on some chats, if I have the time. And, I use other sources where I can get time stamps, etc., for the nests or animals that I follow. So, I can go to the cams and review the footage that is of interest to me. I can read through chats rather quickly as most of it is people saying hello and goodbye, etc. For this nest, if they start to talk too much on the chat, sometimes their posts get pulled and they get put in time outs, or, they are challenged, so, they are discouraged from having real meaningful discussions. They just stay polite and pretty quiet about what they're really thinking! 🤷‍♀️ Some nests put out times of highlighted events. Some have other websites where people post info and photos. Many use other social media sites that I can read. I can zip through them during the day to get times, etc. So, after I get the info for myself, it's not that much trouble to share it with you guys, as I know you're all busy and I don't mind helping you stay current, when I can. For the next week, I will be more tied up with Thanksgiving stuff and also the internet problems, etc. There were a lot more people viewing Gabby and V today to see what's going to happen. It's always the nest where there is something new or odd going on that gathers a crowd. Especially, those like myself who want to see and learn new things. V3 was energetically swish-swishing so he's got the right action going finally, just has to be revved up enough to block out Gabby's screeching, sheesh, she IS the loudest female out there! I imagine once the hormones are at peak levels for both of them, it will all come together. I'd be sad to see them miss this season. They need eaglets!

Hi fly I agree - V3 does not know how to mate on a branch or on a nest. His instincts are telling him to mate but he has to figure out the fine mechanics!! I loveV3 is a very sweet and devoted to Gabby!! TC ♥

Hi Lissa - V3 is trying to figure it out - I think he will gain a lot of confidence with one mating on a branch where he can actually fly to her back. Mating on a nest is hard even for experienced eagles!! V3 is a resilient eagle - don't count him out!! ♥

V3 didn't have enough experience. I think that everything will be all right. Gabby helps him. Thanks for your video !❤❤❤

OMG! I lost my well thought-out comment! 💔 (so frustrating to do) When editing comments, have to hit discard option and I hadn't saved it yet and forgot to hit keep writing option instead...so back to the drawing board after brunch! ATTA BOY V3, KEEP UP THE SWISH-SWISH MANEUVERING! And Gabby's vocals are very loud! They started out as disapproval, then advanced to soft cries to indicate she's wanting to mate. V3: "Baby, make up your mind"! Gabby knows she's bonded to V3, he's been at her side for nearly a year already. She also apparently doesn't like to mate on the nest. I say it's time for these Lil' Love Birdies of Prey to declare a compromise... Gabby perches on Samson's Large Thick Stick (in the nest)

Hi Libra yes I do think that V3 is young and inexperienced in the mating world. Last year he tried to swish his tail on the nest and did not even attempt to mount Gabby. I was talking to David Hancock - biologist at the Hancock Wildlife Foundation and he agreed with me that V3 just does not know what to do yet. Instincts will kick in eventually. I am a bit surprised it is taking this long though! But I guess the learning curve is different for each maturing male eagle. I have seen sub adults really have the mating technique down well and can have fertile eggs with a female too! And that is another piece of the puzzle - sometimes the mating is successful but the age of the eagles might cause eggs to be infertile. So we just have to wait and watch what happens and hope for the best ♥ TC

Hi Lisa yes V3 was gone a few days and another visitor was back. Some feel it may be A1 returning but AEF is not committing to any particular eagle - just calling him visitor. But the visitor is still around and even roosted with Gabby yesterday and did some nestorations. V3 has his work cut out for him!

It seems that the eagle has no experience in that field.😂

Gabby knows he is interested in mating but they aren't communicating well. She might need to join him on the branch after an unsuccessful encounter to allow him to have a successful mating. He isnt understanding that the branch activities aren't good in the nest. I hope they have mated successfully off camera somewhere.

Hi Cheshkat yes their communication is a bit off - they don't read each other's signals very well. That is part of V3's inexperience too - and Gabby is a very loud and strong female and is constantly chastising him with nips...it is all a part of figuring out each other's love language...once V3 can figure out the mating part their relationship & bond will strengthen considerably. ♥

Sign.... He has the urge to merge, just doesn't quite know the moves😢

Samson disappeared about a year ago, never to be found. Gabby had many suitors but in December #3 returned and they have been together ever since, off and on. He has fought hard for her!

I feel sympathy for V3. He just doesn't get it yet

I've watched V3 ask imo 3 different times now and Gabby keeps putting him off when he does so I hope it all works out...Maybe she don't want to be asked and just go for it V3...but to me it seems to be the gentlemen thing to do maybe not in the animal kingdom tho...Maybe she wants to be the one to insist...After all she rules the roost...

I think Gabby would be very receptive to V3 if he would mount her while they are on a branch rather than try and do this on the nest which is awkward at best. When V2 arrived last year if you remember he mated with Gabby two times and she did not resist at all!! V2 went for it on a branch! V3 will figure it out :)
