Adyashanti - The Price of Staying Awake

adyashanti.org - Who do you want to blame? Who do you want to withhold love from? Who are you so resentful and bitter towards that you would never want to express your love towards them? Adyashanti opens up a doorway into self-knowing, where you can explore where you are withholding love in your life. By holding up the torch of truth to your interactions and releasing your arguments with yourself, others, the world, and God, your world is dramatically transformed -- your daily activities become more inclusive, and you begin to embody your awakening more fully.
Video Excerpted From “Restoring the Sovereignty of Being”(ID #440):
bit.ly/2dDIRf8
Quotes from this Video:
“Step outside of everything you think you know.”
“The entire internal world -- when you’re not thinking about it -- just stops.”
“Doubt is powerful. Not the kind of doubt that makes you feel small and diminished and afraid to move, but the doubt where you see, ‘My God, the whole way that I have myself, and everybody, and everything hooked up in my mind may be nothing more than a thought. A persistent thought, but maybe nothing more than that.’”
“This is the kind of doubt that not only allows us to begin to experience the dimension of being but actually releases it into experience.”
“To be really awakened is to have no more argument with yourself, no more argument with the world, no more argument with others, and no more argument with God.”
“Reality is the ultimate bait-and-switch maneuver. It costs nothing to wake up, however it costs everything to stay awake.”

Dear Adya, i was put into mental health institution in London, when i realized all the things you mention in this video. And their excuses for sectioning me was that i was vulnerable and could be danger to myself or others while they themselves were harming me physically and emotionally with the cruel treatments authorised by those so called doctors. they filled my heart with hatred and anger. the society and the law of of this country is opposes freedom however they actually wants us to believe that this is a free country, i know from my own experiences what they do to people who wakes up to truth. but of course no one can stop me no one !!!!! I m even madder than ever i m not scared of them not any one they should be of me ....

You might be enlightened or you may have mental health issues i don't know. I say this because you say at the end you are filled with anger and they should be scared of you? This makes me think there may be some mental health issues there. If there are you can still heal it all it doesn't mean anything inherently wrong but might be some time or work to let go of some wrong beliefs if there are mental health issues there. I had serious mental health issues myself and was sectioned but realised what i was thinking wasn't true and doing much better now. Good luck anyway whatever is going on!

everything is fine, just know that anger is not yours. anger is there but its not you, its a result of nature. hatred is there but hatered is not you. acknowledge it. dont try to convert it to love or anything, if it is meant to be expressed as love out worldly, it will be expressed such. even if you dont want to. just so you know at core who you are , you are outside these qualities. just become a mirror, a hateful person will see hatred in you, an angry person will see anger in you. a fraud will see fraud in you. and a loving person will see love in you. just meet with an stranger who doesn't judge you whoever he is will flow with you. just become the mirror... just be as are you . mirror doesn't change for anything. dont reflect something that is not there.

My longing has been and my first prayer was asking to learn compassion in this lifetime like Yeshua (this was before I even began my search for "the truth"). I became an RN in 1992 and many times in my career have asked myself why I picked nursing and have even regretted my choice. For the past 5 years or so I see how this career is stretching me in my compassion and pushing me to see beyond the picture presented before me to what lies within and finding a common bond. I wish I could find better words to express this. Now I see my career choice as an answer to prayer. My compassion now growing in a garden with a fertilizer that pushes my boundaries to extend and extend until one day they will fragment back into nothing and my compassion will be limitless. I have a motto I live by, "Question everything." And another one: "Believe nothing. Either know or don't know." Knowing something implies that you have personally been informed through personal experience. Memorizing knowledge and holding it as truth simply because someone told you it was true is just plain stupid. :)

+Logan Westby Yes...totally understood, but remember that there are different teachers that will have a greater resonance with others. It has a lot to do with the each persons filter. As you probably already know filters develop from your parents, Church etc and are added to by school teachers and so forth......so all the info that Adya teaches is run through that filter and is often judged based on that limited thinking. As a result, the information is often not understood and is blocked for a future date where hopefully it will be undserstood and made comprehensible to all.

@@zephyrblue2032 WOW! You are the only person I have come across that gets it. We are programmed by our parents and our culture. Programming always creates filters through which we perceive our reality. And those filters blindly lead us toward the agenda of the programming. It is only learning from someone who has had the same or similar filters, and has learned to seen through them, that we too are able to see through them. Then our awareness can begin to learn from other teachers.

Whoa, it's been so long since I heard this.... Over the years, I totally forgot that is the price I had to make. Once I realized there was no turning back. The more I had to lose out on everything and the dynamics of all my relationship had drastically changed. After that, it was hard to stay balanced when all my relationships disappeared... Now, I get it. The crazy thing is People don't realize when it happens until it Dawns on you that's what was happening all along. Overtime, it does get easier to accept those changes. The isolation gets easier, the confusion stops being confusing. The feeling doesn't feel like a lose anymore. Hence, the resistance stops being a resistance

I know this is an old comment. But I wondered if you could share more, about the loss of relationships. Initially when after awakening, they all disappeared, and there was no resistance but after many years of isolation, there was a nagging feeling that maybe there is something wrong with me. This eventually was the catalyst to being lost in illusion and identified with ego.

@@lg9050 I am not sure if what I have to say will help but I will try. Relationships are self-evident experiences. I feel that is a pretty easy way for people to understand and acknolwedge that. No matter what we do, our most intimate and personal relationships never truly go away no matter how isolated we may feel or become. We still have to deal with people no matter how awake or unawake we are. In otherwords, Relationships with people never truly go away. We just become more self-sufficient about how our self-awareness participates and functions as we get older in our lives with people that we choose to have. We just have to pick our relationships carefully. In many ways, I found that its the emotional attachment that I still had which caused most of my mistakes and misunderstandings about how I should experience my own awareness while dealing with both the negative and positive aspects of awakening. So, yeah. I don't feel there is anything wrong with you. It seems to me your response is a very natural reaction to a very unusual situation. Just know, your awareness will continue to evolve regardless of who you have in your life or not. Just be safe and have patience. Experiences with or without people will have a funny way of showing you things about yourself that you would least expect.

@@lg9050 as for ego work, it takes a lot of guts and willpower to admit how wrong we are when we approach our own egos. A lot of what ego is is just thoughts about ourselves, people and the experiences we had from childhood and adulthood. The sooner one admits that you can't run away from yourself the easier time you will have with discovering a new side to yourself as a conscious human being. At least, that's what I'm learning about myself despite the nature of the losses I have had and the new experiences I have gained thus far

I don't really get it :) He is right though, about the experience of awakening and living in a state of awakening. As soon as you are back to the thinking process in your head, that's it, the door is closed. There wasn't love though, that I felt, but the whole different field of existence. Looks the same like ours, but with the underlying feeling of connection (or actually disconnection) between everyone and everything. Love came after the door shut for me. Hit me like a cunami, I had to hold myself together so I don't go around jump on people with open arms screaming "wake up, I love you all" like I ate mushrooms or smth.
