The U.S. rates are higher that Egypt 10, Indonesia 11.3, and the Philippines 12. So they do seem pretty high. (About 3x as high rates as Western European countries). Reuters reported a study showing SUVs are 45% deadlier to U.S. pedestrians. About 45% of new cars purchased in the U.S. are SUVs. I wonder how much of the increased fatality rates is due to that.

@@felixf4378 Sure, US Americans spend more time in their car (calling what they do driving however is a bit rich considering that the vast majority seem to think that driving is what you do while reading the paper, watching something on your tablet, eating your burger and calling yo momma) On the other hand, on your average US road you could do a 180 in one motion while on most European streets you are lucky if you can do a 180 in only 3 movements. On your average US streets the car rules supreme and people crossing the road is highly regulated if not prohibited. On your average European street pedestrians are Emperors, bicyclist Kings and car drivers should make room for their betters. :) In other words, people in the EU learned how to drive and being on the look out for danger while in the US... not so much. The amount of footage that you can find of cars slamming into an accident in the US because the driver failed to press the brake pedal tells you all you need to know.

If one does any real work w/ a truck or goes off-roading, that is just standard equipment to be prepared so you don't get stranded out in the middle of nowhere. The only exception is if the cybertruck happens to have run-flat tires. But I doubt that is the case.

People talk about safety of other drivers and pedestrians, but the safety of the driver and passengers is already concerning even compared to traditional trucks which have spent decades of development from being death traps to being ‘acceptable’. A 2 inch lip was too impossible for it to drive over and the axel ripped off. Which the first 5 were sold in 2018 then it took 6 years before some issues were sort of patched before the vehicles were released fully and now they already have a recall for every single one because of the gas peddle has an issue of getting stuck down causing the vehicle to not stop increasing speed until it crashes. There are so many issues with this thing its an insult to call it anything but garbage on wheels.

Hell just watching the crash test you can see the dummy break it's neck in the head on test - the crumple zones are virtually non-existent. How the hell did it pass the NTSB? Except the DeLorean is one of the coolest vehicles that was ever made. Fun fact, when Pontiac made the Fiero, John DeLorean collaborated with them to make it. That's why it looks so similar. I had a silver SE, the one that had the nice clean looking body kit, and me and my dad rebuilt it from the ground up because it was old and rusted out. Welded new body pieces, all new lines (everything) v6 from a Camaro and a transmission from a beretta GT, had close to 300 HP. It was like a mini rocket cart. Rumbled like a muscle car while idling. That car was so much fun. I could spin it around 360° and keep going doing about 45mph. A few of my gfs pi$$ed themselves in that car 😂
