just fyi, I wouldn't recommend putting an actual candle in the swan, since the heat might cause it to shatter which would be super sad, so a battery-powered votive might be best

So once again, KZread has eaten my comment before I've even had a chance to post it. Just a couple of FYI's; be of those white ceramics might be Milk Glass, another specific type of glass like Depression Glass. The china is a dinner plate and salad plate. The company, which is very well known for its fine China and giftware, is pronounced nor-i-takee The second syllable should be characterized as a schwa e, but that accent mark isn't on my keyboard. Once upon a time couples would pick sets of China, crystal and silver and then register their choices at a prominent store so that those who've been invited can purchase something as their wedding present. This was in the good old days of registering possibilities instead of sending out demands for monetary gifts and expecting guests to pay for their dinner. I never thought that I would be of a generation that could feel things were done better in "my day." 😒 That is a wonderful birthday advent box, even better than the first one.
I had an advent calendar activity you could do. Get your husband or mother to select 12 boxes from behind you and they can wrap them and put a number on them and you get to open them up in order. This way you won’t know which box you are opening.

🙋♀️ I have a request. Can you do a side series that’s Vintage with Alexandria and you just show us a bunch of vintage stuff and tell us cool history facts? These vintage videos show a whole different side of you and it’s so fun to listen to people talk about their passions 🙌🏻

@katiehenry7 Exactly Katie. As well I don't think everything would have been wrapped with such TLC. I'm a thrift store hobbiest and if everyone got things of that quality they would be out of business in no time. I'm surprised she didn't point out that she clearly got special treatment. 😊
The Etsy store owner sure knows how to personalize a calendar. I love everything she sent. BTW- you can use the swan to hold your rings when you’re doing dishes. I’d put it on the windowsill.

Of course it's extra fancy. I'm not trying to be cynical but she knows now that it's probably going to end up as a video on your channel. Can't blame her for making it extra nice. (Note that even with my cynicism I realized that the box that you got the first time she had no idea who you were, so therefore you got to have a good look at what you would get even if you want a social media presence) Happy birthday 🎉
I nearly cried (to be fair, it's approaching that time of the month, so i'm a lil sensitive) bc to see you get screwed over and deal with so many disappointing advent calendars, only to get one that is so above and beyond and seeing you excited about each and every thing makes me SO happy tbh

WOW. The amount of genuinely vintage, beautiful, and high quality pieces for that price is INSANE. idk how the seller actually makes any profits on these boxes holy cow the value is worth it imo 🎉🎉🎉
I think the final item (the cloth circle) is an antimacassar. People used to drape them on the backs and arms of chairs to keep the fabric underneath from getting soiled. 😊

The amber colored glass cup you got is a type of depression glass. Depression glass is frequently found in pink, green, or amber.
@EmilyMurdy

I came here to comment this! I collect teal depression glass (which isn't nearly as common as pink or green in my experience) 😁 I haven't seen much amber either though, actually!
@lisacheney7904
7 күн бұрын
Personally, I think it looks a little too high quality to be Depression glass. The level of clarity and sparkle, the thickness, and the way the feet are made all make me thin this could either be Elegant Glass from the same era as Depression Glass, or something midcentury. ETA: Confirmed. It's Elegant glass in the Fostoria Baroque pattern.
@lesap8889

@@EmilyMurdy Yes, depression glass. My grandmother was an estate antique dealer and collector. I bought a piece from Sandy because I had never seen amber either. She has very beautiful pieces that are not mystery. Take a look at them as well!

The orange thing would be so pretty hanging in a window with the sun. Also use salted butter in your butter bell and change the water daily. Your butter will stay fresher longer by doing both.

The little swan would be perfect as a sponge holder by your kitchen sink!!
I just realized, we have the same style. I just love this box. I'm going to have to check out this Etsy store! I love, love love all this! Thank you for the video!
That bowl looks like it is made from "carnival glass". That's what we use to call it. It's kinda like a multichrone eyeshadow.
She did an excellent job creating this box. If normally they ask what you like and even take half the attention, it’s a great deal. I loved those glasses, btw.
Of all the boxes you’ve opened this has been my favorite. Maybe it’s because I’m 76 and remember a lot of those things. 😃
In the early 90's, someone bought a painting at a flea market for $4 because they liked the frame. When they opened the back, they found one of the original copies of the Declaration of Independence, which went on to sell for $2.4M at auction. So, it doesn't hurt to look! :)
This unboxing experience video was SO much fun and everything was so so so beautiful!
As someone who has had her share of etsy shops. And not the best success ( mostly from craft fairs). The whole start of this video made me tear up. I love seeing others store success and support and genuine excitement. So nuch work goes into those shops
For the little plate from day 13, I'd guess dessert or bread plate rather than saucer. In my, admittedly limited, observation, saucers tend to have a little indent to hold the cup and more of a curved shape to help contain spills.
I love old books!!! Hubby and I have a small library ourselves that we will leave to the small town we live in, when we pass.
tie a wide ribbon around the vase/cadnel holder to cover the fruit. A wide ribbon in a nice beige or mauve yolor would look really nice either in a bow on a fancy knot
i’m don’t usually comment, but i have to for this! i ordered a stationary/ephemera mystery box from them with customization, and they went above and beyond, especially with accommodating my scattered interests. definitely recommend!!!
Aww, the bell! My Mamaw used to collect bells too. She had a shelf of them. I'm lucky to have a couple of them after she passed in 2010. I miss her all the time.
Love these boxes! More please! (And I I also called my Grandmother Nanny)😊👍💗
That would make a cute little fruit bowl! I love that trivet and the water butter dish!
Everything you got is absolutely amazing! The beautiful ornament on day 10, i believe, would look fabulous hanging in a window for the sun to catch!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You can use that as either bunt or jello mold😂 multitaskers were invented by inventive housewives
Ooh, I'm so loving the Noritake plates, they're very collectable and expensive, at least where I live. That's Noritake pattern 165. I collected one that had green flowers on the border but sold them along with my blue Wedgewood ashtrays that belonged to a grandparent I didn't really like 😂 Such a wonderful calendar! 🫶🏼 Happy Birthday 🎂🎉
Wow you could tell they put a lot of thought and work into the curation. Very pretty items! I love glassware personally
Dang it, spending on extras is currently on hold while I save for something, but this makes me want to order one! I do wonder, however, if this box was better because she knew it was for you and going to be featured online.

Yes it was. The Etsy store owner knew what Ally’s social media presence is like. If she gets 50 purchases because of this unboxing, she’ll have an exceptional month. I still feel you’d get a pretty decent box if you decide to purchase one but I wouldn’t set your expectations too high.
I collect bells from family that pass and a bell that I have is that exact one. Part of my family is from Quebec and that's where that bell is from.
I got nervous 😅with you waving ceramic dishes and glasses around 😂 You are clumsy at the best of times! Looks like very unique advent calendar from Etsy 😊
This is *by far* the best advent calendar/ mystery box I have ever seen. I've watched every one of your advent calendar vids and never seen one so well customized. Those items are so perfect!
My mom has that bell. She is old enough to be your grandma & you are the age of my youngest child. ❤ I adore watching you.
I love how happy you get with vintage stuff
Saw Advent Calendar and clicked immediately. And the plot summary of that book sounds horrifying
You could use the desk set for makeup brushes OR to help keep up with your tools for opening boxes and stuff 😅
This is giving tea party at grandmas house vibes. Suddenly very homesick 🥹
You got some really beautiful things, nice job to that Etsy shop!
Happy Belated Birthday to my fellow Ally and 92 baby! 🎉

I love these boxes! They combine all of my favorite things. Alexandria unboxings and antiques 😅 Definitely gonna get one of these for my mom for xmas, even though her taste is SO specific, but I bet she'll love whatever she gets just cause advents are so fun

These are so cool, I love watching you unbox them!
Love how excited and happy you are about this calendar. It made it really fun to watch.
Absolutely love this!! And yes, you can paint the whole outside of the candleholder. Use acrylic paint and the seal it with a gloss. It will be gorgeous!! Just match paint as close as you can to inside and paint the whole outside- don’t try to paint the fruit only 😊
I agree - gold leaf the fruit. That will be sooo pretty
I know some people are saying it might be a better calendar because she knew it would be filmed but even still, wowza it was an excellent set of items! The Japanese noritake plates were my favorite.
The brass basket made me think Easter. Then you said candle and that makes sense too! I think a little tea light candle would be perfect! 🤩
Absolutely beautiful collection of items in this advent calendar. I love that it's coming from a small business owner. It's wonderful to actually see you, considering how busy you are. That's the best part.

LOVE THAT BOX!!!!
Happy birthday!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This collection is amazing! Happy Birthday!
Loved this!!! You can use LED tealights for that brass basket!
My first thought, when you tinged the glasses, was "ohh, that's real crystal." Tie a wide white ribbon around the fruit of the vase/candle holder. Or, just wrap a piece of ribbon and pin it in the back, so it can't be seen. Then it doesn't lose any value it may have as an antique.
I was so excited to see you do another vintage unboxing! It did not disappoint! These unboxing are my absolute favorites, I could watch you do them forever!❤
