Advancing AI: Creating The Creator with Gareth Edwards

Ғылым және технология

Go behind the scenes of the new science fiction action film, The Creator, to learn how Writer / Director / Producer Gareth Edwards approached shooting and visual effects differently using cutting-edge technology, and his dream of how AI could help democratize filmmaking. Gareth actually wrote the film on an AMD laptop and started building his film years ago on an AMD Threadripper based system. Industrial Light & Magic finished his vision with special visual effects and animations with render farms and workstations powered by AMD EPYC and AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO processors. See The Creator in theaters today on the biggest screen possible!

    His movie costed 80m USD and it looks like it costed 300m usd. The tech and direction and art and vfx and cgi the way was used was amazing! Unbelievable realistic! It felt like James Cameron in a good way.

    People like Gareth and Neil Blomkamp understand the VFX pipeline like nobody else and it really shows. Much like how John Wick was created by stuntmen. When you have a clear understanding of your technology and how to use it - the sky is the limit.

    Depends on what you mean by "quality". If artificial intelligence (AI) does the majority of the job, then humans are just lazy and have no real worth or quality. Don't mistake technological evolution for human evolution. AI is evolving, not you.

    First time in quite a few years since I felt “this is really groundbreaking vfx”. Yeah you can do anything with green screen or in the volume, but the other way round? There are some minor “rotoscope” issues with close up shots but this is Oscar material for me.

  • @captureinsidethesound

    @captureinsidethesound

    You are taking what he said out of context. He stated that he wanted to draw/create HIS OWN material and easily manipulate it into a scene. He was NOT referring to using anything like Midjourney where you just type words for AI to draw it for you. He is using AI to manipulate his own creation to get composites done faster. Also, this is in reference to video VFX, not images like in a comic book that most use AI for. Generating a few random images isn't nearly the same as generating composites into a video scene that has 24-60 frames-per-second.

    @@captureinsidethesound dude relax take a chill pill….but with all due respect you obviously never use Midjourney before. MJ can do a lot more than just “comic book” material. VFX artist like myself we manipulate and combine it with 3D assets including things like Matte Painting BG and inspiration for shots and composition. Please know the topic and do your research before ranting.

    @@captureinsidethesoundThere’s literally no ai tools for getting around compositing, that is definitely NOT what he’s talking about either, you’re both wrong. ILM comped this stuff together using the usual tools like Nuke. The savings in time only has to do with scrapping pre-production designs and go straight for shooting it and go back and imagine the designs after the edit. Not surprisingly; just what he says in this very video.

    Hey guys. I also have a Vega 64 and when I use Adrenaline to oc Manual, it crashes a windows Blue screen. On old drivers it oc's Manual with no issues but on the latest driver 23.9.3 it does this Bsd crash. I can oc with the auto 4% to gpu clock speed and I can manual type in 1051 for the vram and this works as well as power level at max '50' and fan speeds-This all works fine but if I manual overclock the gpu ghz to whatever I get bsd. Even if I choose manual and just lower the voltage by 10 to 1190 it will crash without even changing anything else like the mhz it will bsd. Anyway, if you guys could fix this I would appreciate it. My 6750 xt is working beautiful as well as my 3800x and 3800xt are excellent. Thankyou in Advance.
