Advanced Tip to Control Distance | Karate Kumite Tutorial
This concept is INSANELY effective but it will take quite some time to make it smooth. Remember to stay aware of where you are open while doing this.

Jab or Side Kick? Which do you use more often?👇

Jab

Both, side kick covers distance and does damage, but jab is an easy and quick way to set up awesome combos

I used to jab by far. Probably because I have very little faith in my sidekick. Also jabs are faster and cost less energy. I am very green with my kumite. I use the least amount of energy as needed because I'm a Ford Ranger with a 6-gallon fuel tank.

I learn guju-ryu karate and I am a black dan 1. Btw this is my Father's account. (I use side kick ) Edit: now I am black dan 2 I wrote it 2-3 days before my test

Nick what are your most common go to attacks when you’re in tournaments?

Nothing like the basics... My top few are: Jab; Reverse; Side Kick. In addition, I do like hook kicks and sweeps for a little extra fun.
Hey, I have a question, I've been working on my spinning back kick, and how to set it up during kumite. Could you please make a video on this? It would be a big help to me.

I've seen a fellow student doing a spinning back kick during sparring and the person who got kicked was a deer in the headlights because he was surprised by that attack. The time for him to process what the heck is going was enough time to get the kick in. It might even be beneficial to practice a spinning hook kick to mix the height.
