I no longer have exemptions, so it had to be kept to 60MPH on that road. You are quite correct, police advanced drivers are trained to make safe progress, usually up to 90% of the vehicle's performance. The highest speed I trained to on the public highway, was 155MPH in a BMW M3. I did this sort of speed daily for over 22 years. We never had a collision; or caused one, never left the road, and never activated the ABS - proving speed used correctly is safe. Also proving how good Roadcraft is!

You make a very good point Andy. As you know a horn/headlamp flash is to warn of presence. The driver was watching me in his very large mirror and a headlamp flash/horn would have been 'overkill' and could have even been counter productive. There are times when you need to say what you are doing, rather than why not. Given more time I would have included that. I am pleased you have mentioned it, as it gives me the opportunity to explain it. Thanks

I couldn't resist. I bought the DVD and love it. I'm a trainee driving instructor and have used some of the terminolgy from the DVD to explain reading the road ahead. Changing vision from dipped to main beam works excellently. Many thanks.

great video and great commentry. If there is one drawback its the watermark right through the middle of the road. Im watching, looking ahead as the video shows but its obviously obscured. other than that, fantastic. Start my IAM on Thursday night, cant wait

Your video's are pure artwork, sir. I passed my Rospa advanced driving test at 20 acheiving a gold grade. Yet my commentry was a disgrace in comparison. I've learned alot from watching this. If there's a DVD available, i will most ceartainly buy one as my refresher test is due next year. Thank you for the inspiration.

This video and the commentary shows proper skills in reading the road ahead, driving at a speed in which he is able to stop within the distance he can see to be clear and safely. If you're are carrying out the correct observations you couldn't drive any quicker. Plus in-car footage always seems to be slower than the actual speeds travelled.
