If memories get old, sometimes they can get mixed up, & then the person who misremembered it may eventually realise that's not how it went & remember it correctly. We will all do that at some point in our lives. Young people can even have misremembered memories. Nothing serious though, since people can realise that memory is mixed up with another one. Also, I have always said to people, that the most wise of people are the ones who have lived the longest on Earth.

So historically speaking it was part of Bohemia and Bohemia itself was part of the Sudetenland, which spread over parts of Austria and Czechoslovakia up to Poland.
