🩰 adult ballerina *ACCIDENTALLY* models for big NYC ballet photoshoot (awkward)

In this episode of the dance diaries, you'll go behind the scenes of a ballet photoshoot in NYC, come to an adult ballet class and see the craziness that came about when getting my first PAID job as a ballet dancer EVER.
I was NOT expecting to model for this big brand, I really just thought I was helping out a friend. As an adult ballerina learning ballet in my 30s, I was shocked when I was chosen to be part of this campaign shoot. I'm not a professional dancer (or even a very good dancer) so I felt pretty shy and awkward throughout the modeling process, but even so, it was a total dream come true!
I hope you enjoy seeing the process of how this photoshoot came together and if you like videos like this, don't forget to subscribe to my channel for weeks in the life of an adult ballerina in NYC!

🍓 HI, I'M VERONICA VICCORA
Hi there! I'm Veronica, welcome to my beginner dance journey. When I was 17, I was told by a teacher that I would never be a ballerina. I let that thought control me for YEARS but now, in my late 20s, I moved to New York City and I'm finally starting ballet late. This is a space for me to document the ups and downs of learning how to do ballet in my 20s and show anyone that it's never too late to live your dreams.

Have you discovered Ballet with Isabella yet? If you want an explanation of all ballet technique in absolute minute detail, check out her absolute beginners course. I’m going through it right now and it’s closing some major knowledge gaps that I have in my technique.

Sounds like it turned out to be a great adventure of a day! You were a natural, and danced beautifully. I'm also a late bloomer, and have a similar story to yours, but with classical piano. Wasn't able to get the training as a kid, could play by ear, but never learnt to read notes, and was also told as a teenager that it was too late, which was silly. I started back in my thirties, and was the best decision ever, even though it's hard. If God gives us a talent, then we should go for it, even if our journey may not look like someone else's, or the path may not be linear. You're a beautiful dancer and are being true to yourself

You looked so beautiful and natural in your photoshoot! They picked well, and like you said, being ignorant to how big of a project it was probably helpful in keeping you more relaxed and such for the shoot.

You in your spy fit 😭🫶🏾 I just kept singing, “Cause I’m an International… Super Spy. SUPER SPYYYYYY” But no, the sound of music piano while going across the floor was so nice!! I also struggle with carrying my arms properly and moving my feet at the same time, but practice makes perfect. I’m not very good at sequences but one day it will just be habit and natural! All in all, sounds like the photoshoot went very well because the cup is sold out 😂👏🏾 #ballerinasareatheletestoo

Hi Veronica! I’ve loved following your journey with dance! As someone who grew up with it, and fell out of love due to circumstances, watching you has reignited my passion that has been simmering under the surface. Something that I always remember from my ballet instructors about arms that might help you is thinking about them as if a marble is rolling from your shoulders to your finger tip. It shouldn’t fall off until the very tip! Keep up the wonderful work

You are amezing and you kind if inspire me.I mean a couple months ago I saw your video where you talked about your journey of getting back to ballet in your 30.And to be honest i kind of felt the same way you did(not feeling complete without dance),but i thought like even if i start now i wont be able to go on pointe and i wont be able to go to a real ballet school(btw I'm 14) but your video was one of the many things that motiveted me to go back to ballet. So i tried and trained for 3 months but i quit becouse the people who trained there didn't like me.But now a month went by and i miss ballet. So i tried many schools but i can't find the right one.But i want to hear your honest opinion on my situation. Can I ever step on pointe?Perform and things like that(just so you now my tehnique is bad and I'm not fat but I'm not skinny and I don't really have the best body for this sport).I really hope you would respond to me becouse i really want to hear opinion of someone who is dedicated to this like you are.

I'm sorry and not trying to be rude or mean but there is no way based on your technique that you should have been approved for pointe shoes. You have a high chance of injuring yourself due to your weak feet, ankles and overall technique. Please be careful!!

@@Onlinedollie sorry but as someone who’s in college for dance and took a ballet pedagogy course. Not every dance teacher takes into consideration the proper way to put someone on point. When you are on pointe the ankle is actually in the most vulnerable position and therefore needs strengthening. Many teachers put the students on point simply because they are over twelve. So yeah just cause the teacher approved doesn’t mean it’s always ok. We point this out because that’s the sign of an unknowledgeable or even bad teacher.
