This is awesome! This makes my heart happy. My 63 year old sister and I (60) got back on the ice last week for the first time in several years. It felt so good.

That's amazing! I love hearing about other adults skating again later in life! I rarely see them IRL!

As a figure skating coach, this fills me with absolute joy to see your wonderful video! Adults are my favorite students to teach with their unparalleled passion, determination and fearlessness. Skating freely without the watchful eye of a coach is “when the good stuff happens” as I tell my class, haha! No doubt your improvement will be noted when lessons start again! Well done and thanks for this bright spot in my day! 😊

Keep up the good work Jen. I also just started to learn skating this year, and the rink in my city is always crowded. Though it’s hard to practice, I am happy to see ppl enjoying this sports. I also made some friends learning skating together.

Yes, it is soooo challenging to work on things when it's crowded at the rink... I find it very intimidating. That's great you made friends! Every adult skater I've met so far in my classes has been really cool and welcoming too!

I am 40 and been skating since 5 years old, people always think that I am much younger than my actual age.

just learning how to skate myself at 33. been over 2 months now. how is the rink you go to always empty? I would have to go during work hours to get an less crowded rink (< 10ppl), at night and on weekends there are always around 40 people with lots of kids falling everywhere and it is hard to practice some new moves.

I try to attend Public Skate midweek on my lunch break, so, yes, during work and school hours. :) It's usually busy on the weekends here too, and it's terrifying skating around kids that don't care about falling! I don't practice new things on the weekends since I've had kids (and a teenager) knock me over before :O

I was just curious so I found a close translation: " Watch your hands, horror, they hang like rags." LOL. I recall an older skater suggesting to my 8 year old daughter who was in lessons for a couple months to show off her jewelry and not have 'puppy hands" It worked. Head was up, arms extended, hands straight out. Now for her mother to get into this habit! (so many things to remember: weight, arms toward circle, head straight - NOT! soft knees, and all those)
