Love this! Side note: If you have any Illustrator based effects like drop shadows and gradient ramps, you'll ave to remove them first as they don't convert properly wen creating tape layers from AI layers in After Effects. And Yes, name your layers people! ^-^

Had the same problem and looked it up: enter Command+Option+Shift+Y for Mac or Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Y for Windows :)

Can you shows how you managed to animate the Whalebird? I’m trying to make a character wave and change expressions and I’m kind of new to After Effects.

So how do I get all the paths of the whale? I convert ai file to shape in AE and I can not access points of (as an example) a circle I converted.

Do you have any videos of how I can keep the quality when working in illustrator and after effects

How much storage (file size) space does a 2D animation of 10 mins occupies ?

At 2:35, release to layers (sequence), not sure if its an update but you no longer need to select every single object in your layer, just select the layer and then "release to layers" (I tried selecting everything and the option was blocked lol)

How we can import stroke in after effects from illustrator?

CTRL + Alt + Shift + Y OR go to Layer > New > Null Object :)

This video is amazing it has helped but you didnt get to the point of making another video showing how to actually animate the logo. Is there a video for that?

im having trouble with all of my illustrator files... they are all shapes no paths... if i import them into after effects i often get weird results with empty spaces inside.... whats the best way to create illustraor a file for after effects? nevermind i keept watching and exactly saw what was causing my problem ... thanks :D i subscribed

I imported my AI file into AE but it's all black and my logo is not showing. Help?

AI and AE don't like to work with gradients so if your shape layers in AI have gradients on them, then the color won't transfer over and you'll have to rebuild it in AE :)

After i import the file all i see is a dark background

press CTRL + Shift + Alt + Y It will create a null object. A null object is a layer in your after effects timeline that does not appear in your video or your art but you can use it as a tool to store data or control objects. You can use it to move many layers at once or act as a separate anchor point for an animation. I'll make a tutorial on this soon :) - Jags
