    I always leave a cup of discarded starter as backup in the fridge sealed with pvc film. Last time the main starter got mold near the jar lid and I was able to reactivate the backup after about one month without touching it. Risky, and that day I learned to change to a clean jar every week bake/feed. Something that bothers me is the starter color it developed over time. Greyish tone, like cement. Did you ever had it? Didn't find anyting over the web (only that is mold, but it isn't. It works very well in baking). I always feed it with white flour and a couple of days ago I changed to whole wheat to mix some new yeast and bacteria in the colony. I see some improvement going on.

    Yeah, my color changes periodically. I have seen articles that pink is young mold so that's what I avoid. When i first had mold, it was black and smelled like rot but since then, I always skim the top by about 1-1.5 cm if i leave it for more than 3 days. As for feeding, i pretty much feed whatever my heart desires that day. For this morning, i fed it rye flour but i just bought a bunch of whole wheat on Amazon Prime day for starter food :P It will affect texture and hydration a little bit but im not selling my loaves right now so I don't need absolute consistency for every loaf. And to echo your sentiments, I also typically have 2 jars around, one in the fridge and one on the counter as well :)

    @@JonJagsNee Hmmm nice to know about the pink color. I was feeding it exclusively with white flour because the last two times I mixed 10% ~ 15% whole wheat my dough lost structure and I baked almost pancakes hahah. I read somewhere that the whole wheat slices through the gluten network, but it might be BS and I used bad quality whole wheat.

    Hi there, can I ask a simple question. Coming from Davinci and AE, where I can simply add text (2d/3d) over a main video - how do I accomplish the same in Unreal Motion design tools?

    Thanks for the video; just one question: is it normal to have a blurry image while I put 1920x1080 resolution? Because if I want render a video I can't use the same resolution that you put in the video.

  • @JonJagsNee
    @JonJagsNee8 күн бұрын

    Interesting. That shouldn't happen bringing it down to 1920x1080. Do me a favor, try killing the screen percentage and depth of field CVars. That can often take a render hit on less powerful GPUs. :)

    but how to you get the shadow to be cast properly for a translucent object, because in your scene they are acting as if light cannot pass through them. Thanks for the tip on the marketplace objects, which are free btw

  • @virtualfilmer
    @virtualfilmer12 күн бұрын

    I agree. Just forcing the object to cast a shadow as if it’s a solid object, like in this example, makes it look fake - because the shadow of a glass object should exist but should look very different. I’m guessing you should ignore the “force” shadow, and just turn on ray tracing translucency (in lights and post process volume) then it should work. I think William Faucher has a video on that. (It’s diff in 5.4 but approx the same)

  • @JonJagsNee
    @JonJagsNee12 күн бұрын

    Yeah, agreed it's not perfect and when i do need it to look a bit more realistic for my clients, I kick it off to the path tracer :) For explainer videos I make, this little cheat gets the point across.
