We'll be back to regularly scheduled programming shortly; I'm working on a video about ways to generate mountains that aren't Perlin noise or erosion. I've been wanting to do some more artistic stuff for a while though, and this project ended up turning out well.

I usually visualise the physical instrument, if I visualise anything at all.

Unfortunately I don't have any good recommendations, my strategy for learning Blender is to alternate between picking up random techniques from various unrelated tutorials and clicking buttons and pulling sliders inside the app to see what they do.
