It is a shame Canada is not paying its share. Adm. Rob Bauer, NATO's top military officer, recently shared that NATO countries including Canada, must do more to prepare for war. The thought of war must be considered even as we do not want to imagine it. Many want this Ukraine war to go away, but that does not appear to be happening anytime soon. The NATO Admiral gave a 50 year time frame. “The tectonic plates of world power are shifting, and when that happens "earthquakes" / war is all but inevitable.” The younger "me" generation wants no risk while they focus on comforts/pleasures of life. This mentality must be checked given the war, growing threats and unprecedented tension we see in Europe and the Asia Pacific. He also argued that the private sector must consider security and defence into its calculus and practices. Supplies can be cut off by foreign companies who become adversaries. Businesses must work with the government to find solutions to the problem and not be merely focused on money. Younger people (men) should consider enlisting in the Canadian Reserves to bolster our defence stance out of service to their country. I can say there is true honor serving in the Canadian Army Reserves for 2 years myself. Sadly, it has been reported from Ukraine, that many young men are hiding from conscription in their girlfriends houses, or draft dodging in other ways. God forbid that kind of cowardice would be named among "strong and free Canadians." "It is not that far away." He said. A recent weapons factory fire in Germany was linked to enemy activity. Potential conscription into the military service is no longer inconceivable in our day and age. We must think about it. If we want peace, we must be prepared to bolster defence and security even as we pray for peace and truly hate the idea of war. We have studied the tragedy of WW2 and the Cold War. May God help us and keep our land glorious and free as we stand on guard thee.

Crazy to hear them speak as if Russia attacked NATO personally when in reality Urkraine was never with NATO. This just seems like practice to see what future warfare is going to look like.
