Thank you so very much!!! I was trying to set up my seating die and the instructions they provide are not the best. This video was clear, concise, and very easy to understand. And it has info that Forster's instructions don't have. Great video, thanks again! :)

Robert Amaty - The Forster in line seating die and the Lee Collet neck size die practically assure run out of .001" or less especially with a good press like the Co-Ax or new MEC press (although in testing, the Lee and RCBS Rockchucker are only a shade behind). Best to ya, FC

Robert Amaty - all the numbers are in the video - what the result really is that the dies are a bigger component of low run out than the presses are...but the presses do make a difference - Again, the results are tabulated in the video. Best to ya, FC

Hi FortuneCookie45LC. I'm about to start reloading and I want to buy the right equipment the first time around. I'm going to load between 2 or more rifles (semi auto & bolt action) per caliber on my Redding T7 press. Would you suggest the Forster Micrometer Seating Die for quick adjustment between the bullet values I'm loading per rifle or is this micronometer purely for precision rifles?

Hello , can I ask what kind of variation you are getting in seating depth ? I’m seating the same bullet into new neck sized lapis brass and getting variation of .003 measures from base too ogive. Is this typical ?

Good instruction Cookie.. You are right though, experience that you get from use is what you have to do in the end. I like the die lock ring thing, I just marked the lock ring with a sharpie.. Btw I have that same RCBS scale, I have had it for years. Dave.

god i really need to have one of those forster presses in my life. lol. might take a plunge soon, but i think getting the forster dies might be a better first step? do you have a series on precision reloading? just picked up a 260 rem i'm looking to load for precision at long range (1000+ if i get the chance). looking for everything from what your steps are from basic case prep to finished, to load development.

Munky332 - Congrats on your 260 Rem - the 6.5mm caliber currently rules the long range fields out in Sacramento...Yes, the Co - Ax is the press for you, next time Midway runs a sale on that, you need to be ready to put the pounce on it...And the Forster In - Line Micometer Bullet Seating Dies are very fine... I do have video series on precision rifle loading... Have a great day, and a fine Thanksgiving to ya, FC

I’m very confused - I bought this die because of the fine adjustment to tune seating depth. You didn’t even use the mic adjustment and did the standard trial and error method using the seating stem??

Mr. Cookie Looking for some advice on your experience with the Forster seating dies. I have had the Forster fl sizing and seating dies in .223, .308 and .243 for a couple years now and am very happy with them. However, I cannot get consistent repeatability with any of the seating dies. I use my Redding T-7 for sizing and also have a Redding case comparator die for .223 and .308. For seating I prefer my Forster Co-ax press. For trimming I have the L.E Wilson/Sinclair bushing style case trimmer with micrometer adjustment. For the life of me I can't seem to figure out why I am not getting consistent repeatability when seating my rounds. For example today I was loading .308 in Nosler brass all trimmed to 2.005 (there may have been some shorter ones that didn't need trimming). My bullets are Sierra MK 175gr. I am getting a variation of up to .010. They run both sides of the scale from under .006 to over .004 (always varied). For the past two years it's only been hunting ammo but recently had a very nice rifle built and want precision. For now I'm seating them all long and using the micrometer to tune them but not what I know these dies are capable of. Have you experience anything similar? Any suggestions? Apologies for the long winded post. Harley

harley33kp - I've found the Forster In line Bullet Seater to be amongst the best to seat bullets...And I've encountered many reloaders frustrated at the OAL consistency they get with any seater. But that is because they measure to the bullet tip...and the variation in the tip (especially with polymer tips) explains the variance. If the measurement is to the ogive with a bullet comparator, we can get the consistent measurements thereby. .010 is a big variance...if you are getting that with the Redding Comparator, measuring the Forster seater output, that would be surprising. I'm currently using the Hornady Bullet comparator and should do a video on this...You are using good equipment and good components...and I'm certain your procedures and concepts are in line. That spread of .010 is huge and unacceptable for precision reloading. Best to ya, FC

  • @harley33kp

    @harley33kp

    6 жыл бұрын

FortuneCookie45LC the variation is using a micrometer and measuring OAL. I do also use the comparator die for comparison and that spread is much less (about .003). I guess what is getting me is the OAL variation and I should be less worried about that. It's hard to find a range that is accepting new members in my area of Alberta and since hunting season started in my favourite shooting spot it may be a while to test these work up loads. I thank you for your advice. I enjoy your videos and love the Forster dies.

Real noob question about the Co-Ax. If I use Lee Dies do I need to purchase locking die rings for them? Since the ones that come with the Lee Dies have only the rubber O-ring to hold it in place? My worry is that the adjustment will work itself loose without a locking ring on the co-ax. Thanks FortuneCookie!

pablomoca - The Lee rings work fine in the Co-Ax. In fact, I really haven't found any rings that don't work well - but must admit to you that when I really want to make precision ammo, I use Forster, Lyman or Hornady rings. Have a great 4th, FC Steve

Tim Farley - I have not used the Forster neck size bump die...That is like the Forster FL die except it doesn't do any body sizing. My Lee Neck Size Collet Die does all the neck work I need. My first choice would be to bump the shoulder with my FL die with the expander plug removed and then use the Lee NSCD to straighten the case neck. I haven't had any occasion to use the Forster bump neck size die in the past. Certainly, it might bear getting one to test its effectiveness.... Best to ya, Steve

Nice presentation. Every YT-Vid I watch about Forster products brings me closer to buying from them, especially their Co-Ax press. I simply love that Press! Their Floating Die/Shell Holder Configuration along with the Two Vertical Guide Bars and the Centerline Pull insures Precision Loading whether you want it or not! HaHa... Now, if they were only available for purchase. OUCH..... OpticsPlanet says 5 to 7 weeks but I don't like the idea of paying $350 UpFront when delivery may slide to 5 to 7 Months. EEGADZOOKS....... I dont blame Optics or Forster. Its just a crazy market that will probably get worster! Must call to see how real 5 to 7 weeks really is. I have confidence in both companies that they'll be UpFront and Honest. Keep the Faith Bros.

If using something like Sierra MatchKings, the 'Hollow Point' tip will mess up your OAL Measurements BIGLEY. Gota use a Bullet Comparator that registers on the bullet's Ogive and not the pointy tip. Not expensive and a Real Must if Group Size is important. Good luck......

Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out. Look for signs that you are saved. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!
