I guess I better keep my field inspection work active lol. It's the same way in the field inspection field. I got one photo job then it was almost a year before I had other options coming to me that gave me a foot in the door with agencies that kept me doing field inspections. It's grueling financially until you hit a sweet spot. Great information.

@@JackStormo as a field inspector you go through agencies also. We do risk & loss control for insurers. Residential and commercial. I don't know anything about State Farm but Matt advises to get certified with them on this journey.

It does depend on the company you work with. I have seen both physical and roof.

This video should’ve been the first video made. After introducing Do you want to be an Adjuster?! I’m a truck driver seriously looking into a different field since my wife doesn’t want me to go the owner operator route! I know but don’t ask! I’m married and I honor my marriage.

It would’ve been great to get more details on expected pay. How likely is it to be able to work 6 months and make over a 100k? I’d also like to better understand the transition of working for SF to other carriers.

Average claim pay out to the adjuster is roughly $250-$300 (daily claims).... $100,000 / $250 = 400 claims closed per year. If you're extremely efficient, have experience in all facets of adjusting, closing 2.5 claims per day is possible. So yes it is possible to make $100k in 6 months, but not without proper training, and probably 1-3 years of experience. If you're on a major storm and the CAT pay is better Then you can do it with less claims closed.

I hit a 100k in my first year working 5.5 months on hourly. 200+ second year with some two large hail storms on fee and about 4.5 months of hourly. You will get burnout hard working roughly 8-9 months straight but it's worth it. It also took about 7 months to get my first deployment but I've stayed busy since.

@@CreatedbyLeon get your license buy the course through adjuster pro, buy 10 states you will need gulf states and Carolinas. Get certified by the carriers big red is your best shot at getting work. Finally get you rope and harness cert won't get alot of work without and it moves you up the list. Make sure you have a truck or sub that can haul a 28' ladder at least 32 is better. Call firms atleast once a week. Gonna cost about 4k not counting vehicle.

What do you think about starting out as an IA vs starting out as a staff adjuster? I have no relevant experience in construction, and I realized after doing a ride along that my licensing course didn’t really prepare me for the ins and outs of the job. I want to start out as independent as I’m coming from a job where I made 6 figures, but I understand that I may need to view this as an investment long term, which has me thinking that I may need to start as staff for the sake of training. What do you guys think?

If you want to be independent.... Train up, be ready to jump when you get the call, kill it and you'll get noticed. When you get noticed you will stay busy.

Start off as staff you will get most of your training on the job. I made over 6 figures my last 5 years as a staff cat adjuster. Gonna make my move to the IA world now.

Putting damage caused by the adjuster in the estimate would never fly where I am. You shouldnt be putting indemnity costs on the insureds claim record. Thats a company cost just like if you damaged the gutter with your ladder or stepped thru a ceiling from the attic.

Daily - daily claims that insureds have called in a claim for. Fire, theft, car accident, flooding, damage etc. You will either do daily insurance claims or CAT - catastrophe work. Also once you get really good you can do Xactimate writing work. Sometimes people (contractors, attorneys etc.) need it done so you can contract yourself out to do just that as well and it pays well.
