Adin has previously made jokes about killing trans people; I don't think he has much empathy for them. Also I fail to see the problem. Only 1-3% of people regret transitioning. So for the most part, doctors are accurately diagnosing and treating transgender people. If there were 'social programming' taking place, there'd be a lot more than 4000 kids on hormones out of the 50 million kids in that age bracket.

If anything, Adin has only ever show a lack of empathy towards trans people. 40% increase is not significant when you consider Trans people make up 0.5% of the population. Any minor increase to a small population will amount to a large percentage change. Why is it not a natural increase? As societal acceptance of trans people has grown, more people have felt comfortable coming out of the closet resulting in a spike in identification. This is a common phenomenon that has happened with other groups in history. For example, the number of people who identify as left-handed increased 120% after society stopped stigmatizing it. That doesn't mean more people 'chose' to be left handed, but rather they were always left handed and no longer felt it was necessary to hide it. Its the same with trans people now.
