Dude, that intro story. THAT is what Warhammer is all about. And that's why we love it. You basically encapsulated the whole franchise perfectly with one short story. This is right up there with Pedro Kantor picking up that exhausted mother saying "It is time someone carried you."

lol. As this was such a new codex and hot topic I thought that people would prefer I got onto the meat of the matter - the new lore! Well, new to me anyway. I was never that hot on the Sister's lore. @@dazintheoven hey unhelpful dick in the comment section. When you are asked for a source a source is a page number, or document containing the information requested. Considering I asked Jason months ago..you coming in here saying 'check your codex' is about as helpful as air holes in a boat. But dont worry I will do your job for you. In the current sisters of battle codex pgs 11 and 12 cover the 6 main sisters that go before the emperor. 1. No mention is mad of what happened in there. 2. No color swaps mentioned after. 3. Why would it happen to just one sister and 4. Why isnt it mentioned further on in the section for our martyed lady? Because in the current book, the 2nd edition codex, the witch hunters codex, the imperial agents book, the white dwarf codex, no wiki, no d4chan article..nothing. it took me..37min to check everything. So i would advise be more helpful next time and consider some one wouldnt ask for a source if its something so commonly found in a codex. Because you are not helping and you are furthering an untruth.

Oh. My. Emperor. I've had to pause this after the intro story just to say that it by itself would be worth the upload. I've always loved the Sororitas, but I've never seen or heard a story that showed just how truly awesome (in the truest sense of the word) it would be to see them come to the aid of the rank & file. Baldemort, I can genuinely say that you have created something beautiful on your channel and have quickly become my favourite 40k channel (and easily walked into my top 5 of all channels 😜). Thank you.

It can be a bit dry from some, so I just thought I’d drag people into the Grimdark a little easier. I couldn’t try to do an intro as a woman, it would be too much. So I thought I’d show how these epic heroes are to a normal trooper. Glad it didn’t backfire on me. Your very gracious encouragement is very appreciated indeed. All I can say is that I am taking steers from my brothers. It’s a collected effort really. Not just mine. I honestly believe everyone is with me when ‘we’ write. Intimidating, but it is giving me the courage to try things a bit more than I usually would. So, thank you. But thank yourself and the other brothers. It’s a team effort. :).

@Lord Admiral Spire Most people only really know the zealotry from Soulstorm, which is highly unlike how the sisters act at all in lore. They may be a middle ground between Astartes and Guard, but they inspire hope, faith, heal the sick and dying, and bring unshakeable morale to their allies. They are warriors of conviction and heroes in the darkest corners of the galaxy. That is the true Sisters. They can be easily as merciless to their enemies as any astartes, but they can be as kind and warm to their imperial allies as though they are the closest siblings.

A story told so damn well that I was immersed then immersed in my immersion. Me and my Platoon would gratefully serve as your meat shield

Holy shit... that opening story had me welling up a bit. Very good stuff, and a well earned sub before I even got half way through the video. You might even give Oculus Imperium a run for his money.

@@baldermort I mildly disagree, I've been a 40k player for 17 years and like the BL and the lore prior to it being almost a hobby in itself. And yet I think your intros and synopses are excellent even for someone as jaded as me who actually owns the Realms of Chaos books. Subpoint The Emperor is right GOGE VANDIRE seriously no one is promoting a guy with a name that evil. I'd probably set about him with a hammer on introduction.

The adepta sororitas get a bad reputation largely because of the game Soulstorm. The Order of the Sacred Rose was ridiculously overzealous fanatics, but they hardly speak for the rest of the Orders Militant. Many of the Sister Orders are various degrees of zealotry, but more often than not they are very kind toward Guardsmen, and to an extent, they bolster morale even moreso than Astartes. Guard regiments have proclaimed that the Sisters of Battle have treated them as equals, and that the hospitalers who perform their holy tasks may take time to weep at the deaths of even lowly guardsmen, but they will continue to do their duty in the Emperor's name. The Sororitas can be even more zealous than Astartes, but they also possess some of the kindest and most compassionate souls in the Imperium at large. Absolutely terrific video as always.

The sister of battle were what got me into WH 40k and OG WH later on. A random portait of a sister walking away from a burning battlefield but did not know from where it came from. Later on I got to play Dow: Soulstorm. Saw they were playable, started the campaign and a firecracker went click in my head. From then on I was hooked on 40k after witnessing how cool a Living Saint was.

My God 8 years as a US Army combat Infantryman the hair was standing up on arms, damn the emotion that just made me feel. Amazing story👏👏👏

I know it’s 2 years old but, bravo on that intro! You did such a good job of the narrative and the music. The lore is well done too! Bravo good man, bravo

every bad ass who has a bad ass sister, knows that for every space marine, there is a sister of battle. looking out for one another. unshakable faith, and fury. FOR THE EMPEROR!

If anyone says that this game/faction is sexist, they obviously have never heard of the Adepta Sororitas. Damn they're so badass! And you sir have given them so much justice with your magnificent voice and near beaming admiration for this wonderful order. The Emperor protects and the Sisters are the avatars of his will!

Listen Baldermort, I dont leave many comments. Ever. And I have never played Warhammer. Except once on computer playing dawn of war dark crusade. But I've subscribed and been listening to all of your content. Your voice and stories are INSPIRING. Motivated me to get into the tabletop, get models and paint. Learn the lore and the game. Man I wish I could listen to this for the first time again. I remeber when I did I came from school and popped my headphones on and listened while I ate. As I continued to listen I didn't even notice that I stopped eating and was just standing there in my kitchen, totally sucked into it and standing statue still. By the end of it I put down my plate, had a little tear in my eye and pressed rewind. I even shared it to my entire class and wrote a story based on it. If you can, never stop Lord Baldy, never stop

This sounds like the guy from Darkest Dungeon, forreal. There are so many nerdy lore channels that I just can't sit through because they don't have this professional quality narrator; not only do they have a voice worthy of the Emperor lol, but he nails it consistently. Based on Baldemort's lack of computer skill, I just find it hard to believe it's heavily edited. Basically, this guy actually makes me wanna buy the army he's doing the background for.

I put it through background sound reducers (buzz of the computer) and then amplify. That';s it. Taking out the breathing takes ages though. :( I wish i had the computer skills to increase the quality in visuals and sound effects, but am slowly trudging uphill to get that done. @@baldermort I've continued listening and I'll say that you shouldn't worry about the visuals right now. Yours are just fine. Just keep focusing on clean edits where needed. Hmmm, I'd personally love more expansion on some details. Like, breaking up some of these longer, block quotes with your own interpretations of the lore as a whole. Hopefully that makes sense anyway! Basically, I want to hear more of your voice hahahaha.

It's enough to make a grown man cry

I have been playing SoB since 2006, my army is a ton of metal, and this video's intro reminds me of why I play them. I really miss having Inquisitors, but I am okay with losing them. As long as my fellow sisters fight I will be with them. The Emperor Protects! Also your voice is so wonderful, the Britishness plus the growliness is delightful. I hope you get a role in "If the Emperor had a text to speech device".

Before I watched this...and got CHILLS in a hot room. I watched that teaser trailer for the new Necron/primaris/ Sisters of Battles teaser just yesterday for 9th Edition... This was truly a God-Emperor video!!

Idk if it's just me, but when put in proper context, the Sororitas are far and away the most interesting faction in 40k. Thanks to their poor portrayal in a lot of 40k media, I never really gave them a closer look until recently.

Brother Baldermort, the intro story really did emphasise the angelic aspect of the Sisters of Battle. A splendid narration. By the Emperor! When the Adeptus Astartes are the Angels of Death, the Adepta Sororitas are the Angels of Hope.

"Gentle listener" hahahhhhahahaaaa...ahem...right. What I meant to say was that the Adepta Sorroritas could almost be considered the last breathing bastion of humanity and compassion left in the Imperium of Man. The Astarte, the Inquisition, the Grey Knights, etcetc are cool and all. But the Adepta Sororitas is one of the few factions within the Imperium that actually keep me rooting for it. Without them, I feel like the Imperium would just be a cold, mechanical, testosterone-driven machine that is about as relatable as an ice cube. They weren't mentioned here, but some of the Living Martyrs and events surrounding the Sororitas performing miracles on the battlefields are just as inspiring as your opening narration. Well done.

Im 3 years late, and I rarely leave any comments on youtube videos... But I was so moved by the intro story... I could feel the hope of the guardsman abandoning him completly. But then...a true miracle... Absolutely brilliant story. You have gained a subscriber.

I'm going to be honest: I've never played the tabletop. Never bought or painted my own army - and I don't really want to do either. But I've always found Warhammer 40k fascinating - occasional missteps by GW aside. I've never cared too much to dive in to the lore of the Astartes (with one exception) or Mechanicus, or any of the massively augmented factions, xenos or Chaos forces. But the Astra Militarum and Adepta Sororitas have always interested me. Because they are made of people who are - underneath all their training, weapons and armor - only people. Not genetically engineered superhumans, not space wizards or anything. Just human. This video - especially the small audio drama prologue - was a treat to listen to. I hope you keep doing these.

I have listened to this intro a dozen times over... Beautifully done... I swear a cloud of dust fills the room blowing into my eyes. Every time... You have become, by far one of my favorite WH40k channels.

That opening gave me the chills 🐸

It's beset amidst the heat of battle at the turning of a tide, and it's not a sappy thing, it's a pure respect and moral unity that would probably see anything from Twilight crushed under it's might (which I dare say would be hilarious to watch)

That intro story literally brings me to tears every time I hear it.

Well technically it is semi authoritarian if you worship the emperor and work towards the property of mankind how you do it does not matter too much tjere are far more authoritarian regimes about today

@id1 l ok and its still semi authoritarian. There are so many checks and balances authoritarianism can never actually take hold on terra. Youd need all those groups to cone together at once and do away with their individual powers all at once to allow for authoritarianism.

Yea the imperium exists in a limbo between feudal and authoritarian. Generally authoritarian on a planetary scale, but feudal on a Galactic scale.

Sister are 100% what got me back into 40K after about a 7 year break, I used to play chaos. But their lore and their new models drew me back into the hobby. I haven’t been this excited about 40K since I started back in 2008. Your narration is truly incredible and I appreciate the way you bring the lore to life, wish I’d found your channel sooner

The opening to your videos before you even get to the main bit of information has yet to leave me with dry cheeks or a still heart. Truly you are a genius of the pen, and a saint of the page. I heard the intro as I was playing Warhammer Inquisitor: Martyr, as an Inquisitor, and I felt the power given by the sisters of battle, it was glorious.

The intro story brought me to tears, literally. This is the video that put me over sir, you have made a subscriber out of me. I've been perusing your posted videos for a few days now gentle narrator (love the gentle listener line by the by) and as a writer and lover of fantasy and an on again off again 40k lore fan your videos are quite honestly and vividly inspiring me. It's an issue of coverage. Guardsmen aren't exactly in full-body suits of power armor so a high enough saturation of arrow fire can accomplish the statistical inevitability of eventually hitting somewhere without a layer of hardened metal/ceramic or pierce resistant weave on top of it. I'm more astounded that the xenos could field that many archers given the intensity of the fire they had to run through to get within bow range. Also, I'm surprised the artillery shills weren't killing them all. It's kinda what artillery does best in the event of a massed charge.

@@duddude321 oh i know that but almost every battle in the warhammer 40 k universe is of such a massive scale that the chance of them hitting an exposed area is almost certain or the enemies are so powerful flack armor is like wet tissue paper the extra mobility gained by not wearing it might be more valuable

Almost makes me want to be a corpse-emperor worshipper. Cant wait till we get more chaos narrations

I have listened to this a few times over the past couple of days, and i have to say how much i wish i could be there. Risking one's life for their beliefs, Shoulder to shoulder with brother in arms. Watching as hulking woman in power armor sing melodies while slitting the throats of the unholy corruption. What a sight it would be... Sigh.... Imagining such a scene is truly satisfying. I'm just sad that i have spent 28 years on this earth never knowing the Majesty, and brilliant writing of people Like you. How sad it is that i didn't come a crossed the Warhammer 40k universe earlier in life. Well i am without a fan. I have decided to make it my mission to read each, and every one of the books before i die. For the Emperor!

love how you give a story before the analysis and breakdown of the factions to really give a taste of what running into these beings would be like if you were an average guardsman, etc. its my favorite part of your videos aside from your commanding narration. consistent spine tingles to be had every chapter it seems.

My Friends that play 40k: "You should totally get into it! There's female-only factions and the fan base is welcoming! Why won't you try it?" Me reading the comments of every Adepta Sororitas and Sisters of Silence comment section full of harem and thot jokes: " .... "

All hobbies have their darker sides. Try dark Eldar. Strangely, being the bad guys, you’ll find it exceptionally welcoming. There is some tension between the ‘painters and players’ but little. No Thot jokes I’ve ever seen. Strange but true. Give Drukhari a try. :)

So before you go placing blame on these "fake geek girls" and "other leftists" you should probably examine what negativity you are dragging into your hobby all by yourself. Second, beyond my satirical comment, you don't know anything about me or my experiences. Nor do you know anything about what the people you are apologizing for, have done. You just invented context all by yourself and advised someone who is very well-read on Warhammer lore, that they shouldn't play before they are further offended. So again, I would advice you to look at how many people you, yourself, are driving away from a community that you seem to feel you speak for. Me looking at Warhammer figures: Oh look there are girl minis. I wonder what they are about. Me after hearing that intro: *weeping* by the Emperor, I shall tithe to Games Workshop so I may grace my armies with the Sisters of Battle. May they slay many xenos and heretics, and may we sing together the praise of the Emperor!

You really have a talent for narrative audio readings. So much so that even when i listen to some others, they can not compare to your video's. You put feeling into your narrative, it's like you are there. Amazing. Top class mate, truely.

That intro story was bloody breath TAKING, Makes me want to go back to loyalists instead of chaos.

So far my favorite of your audio drama monologues. What a cool narrative. Loved it.
