Adenium Repotting (How Careless Trimming Results in Odd Canopy)

Ойын-сауық

The video ,as the title,Adenium Repotting ( how careless trimming results in odd canopy) indicates, shows what happens if we are careless in trimming adenium while repotting.Adenium pruning is a very important part of desert rose care not only for increasing the number of branches but also for an aesthetic purpose.
In this video I have covered the following :
Cutting the thin roots on the caudex that will be exposed in the air. Trimming the branches of the desert rose plant. Wiping out adenium sap. Covering every cut with fungicide paste.Drying the adenium plant in shade and the cause of drying.Repotting adenium.What to do after repotting and when to water after repotting.Then I have shown the update of the desert rose bonsai after 40 days. Finally I`ve shown the result of wrong cutting of branches and the result of right cutting of another plant that developes a perfect canopy.
So friends, if you are interested in growing this most beautiful plant with a natural bonsai like look ,I recommend you to watch this video till the end. I also request you to visit my channel by clicking the following link:

    Just found your videos. They are excellent and the wording printed over the picture is a great help. My original Adenium is about 25 years old and is just beautiful despite my lack of proper knowledge to care for it. There is something very special about this plant and your presentations bring show that to the fullest.

    I have learned a lot from your videos but I may have messed up. My plant has two distinct branches. One is producing tons of flowers the other has none. Both have sparse canopies. This plant has only been re-potted for two weeks and was a direct re-pot without trimming at the recommendation of the desert nursery where I purchased it. I know now that I should have trimmed the feeder roots and treated it with fungicide. Since the plant seems healthy at this point should I wait until winter (I'm in the desert southwest) to trim it back? This plant would lend itself well to a broom shaped Bonsai. I would appreciate your feedback if you have time. I can also send a photo if that would be helpful. Thanks for all the effort you put into your videos. They are top notch.

    I saw that the original poster did not reply to your question, I mix a small quantity of sulfur powder or copper sulfate powder with water to make a paste, then apply it to the fresh cuts when pruning roots and stems on my adeniums. The USA brand is Bonide Organic Garden Sulfur, but I'm sure you can find something similar where you live. Better than cinnamon or turmeric, IMHO.

  • @dotbasecamp

    You have done nothing wrong. Adeniums propagated from cuttings are actually branches with roots. So they grow like branches. After repotting when the plant is growing, make a hard cut to have more branches. Mind that you will not get fat caudexed adenium from cuttings as you can get from seed growing plants.

  • @dotbasecamp

    Apart from Boron deficiency , some other causes of bud drop are : 1. If the plant gets too much water ( rain water gets trapped in the buds) 2.Weather change 3.Fluctuation of temperature. 4. Deficiency of water. 5..Insects attack. Don`t worry . It`s natural for adeniums brought from nurseries.

    What's the cause of My plants get saggy or soft? Thank you

  • @dotbasecamp

    @dotbasecamp

    3 жыл бұрын

    It may be one of 2 reasons 1. the plant is running out of water and it becomes soft for dehydration. 2. there is root rot/stem rot. Check which occurs to your plant.

    Why my adenium plant's leaf are yellow. Please help. Thank you

  • @dotbasecamp

    @dotbasecamp

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yellowing of leaves is mainly caused by over watering/under watering / deficiency of micro nutrients / root rot etc. Check the media if it is well draining , the drainage holes if they are clear. Check the stems and the caudex if they are becoming soft . If soft , uproot the plant and check the root. If the caudex is shrinking water the plant.
