Lyrics
How can one become so bounded by choices that somebody else makes?
How come we’ve both become a version of a person we don’t even like?
We’re in love with the world but the world just wants to bring us down
By putting ideas in our heads that corrupt our hearts somehow
When I was a child every single thing could blow my mind
Soaking it all up for fun but now I only soak up wine
They say to play hard you work hard find balance in the sacrifice
Yet I don’t know anybody who’s truly satisfied
You better believe I’m trying to keep climbing
But the higher we climb feels like we’re both none the wiser
So I hope I learn to get over myself
Stop trying to be somebody else
So we can love each other for free
Everybody wants something, you just want me
Why am I obsessing about the things I can’t control?
Why am I seeking approval from people I don’t even know?
In these crazy times I hope to find something I can cling on to
Cause I need some substance in my life
Something real, something that feels true
You better believe for you I’ve cried high tides
Cause I want you so bad but you can’t fight fire with fire
Listen I know how low I can go
I give as good as I get
You get the brunt of it all cause you’re all I’ve got left
Oh I hope in time we both will find peace of mind
Sometimes the road less travelled is a road best left behind

This song describes reality, how we were brainwashed about the journey of life , the imagination and expectations we had…..how we sometimes lose ourselves trying to make other people fit in our lives, how we compare ourselves with others. This is the battle I’m in currently.

The story behind this song is so beautiful and heartwarming. You could see her and James getting emotional as she was explaining the story. Their friendship is beautiful and this song is 100 times better now I know it’s meaning
This one is Adele's anthem for self-forgiveness, self-acceptance and self-love.

As I approached 30, I felt I was in the same place as when I was 23, the last pivotal period of my life so far. I used to compare myself a lot with others, and felt that at this age I should have more achievements and stability. These thoughts made me have anxious nights throughout my late twenties. This song has been very therapeutic for me and came at a time when I needed it most. Every phrase in this song feels like a proverb, and I feel that having listened to it so many times has given me peace of mind. So many worries will be irrelevant in the future. I was thrown into this world, I do what I can to try to survive and make it through this beautiful and traumatic experience called life. It's not worth obsessing over things I can't control. Thank you, Adele.

well written.... reminds me of something King Solomon would have written .. the man who had everything and still felt empty and broken... he realized that all he was looking for was really in God... "We’re in love with the world but the world just wants to bring us down"... fall in love with Jesus ... He " will never leave you or forsake you" " For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future...." I think this song is great !!! it explains the human condition.. I have experienced it....we have... or are... experiencing it..... I've known Jesus for literally 50 yrs.... life hasn't been easy but it's been good, peaceful, purposeful and God has been faithful.. God bless...
“I hope I learn to get over myself, stop trying to be somebody else”, this is the verse that hits me every time I listen to this masterpiece… I want so badly to be able to be myself and stop having to pretend to be someone I'm not and to be able to express my feelings and emotions without feeling guilty in front of others. God only knows.

"i hope i learn to get over myself, stop trying to be somebody else" is just perfectly written for those in mid 20s and above, who are now in their mid career, meeting people who are more successful, more wealthy, happier or like that and we just wish to be like them. Well, we all have our own paths aint it, just live the moment, let us rest and figure it out.

Honestly, I’ve always liked Adele. But over time I thought she fell in with mainstream pop and lost her unique voice. The lyrics, style, and power in this album reminds me she is and always has been, a timeless artist who’s voice strikes at the core of raw emotion, loneliness, and hope. She is amazing and I’m glad I found her again.

She has always been a pop classical singer, and is unique in the classical pop category without a second female singer could compare with. I don't think she belongs to the "special" or "niche" type. Her music is basically everyone's willing to listen to, and she speaks the most real and naked emotions. She must be a top commercial singer, but her commercial style is too touching and too accurate to fit the needs of the public so that people mistake it for art.
I absolutely love this song. It hits home for so many of us that are trying to figure out life.

It's really not that profound....nothing new under the sun. Most people are never satisfied. People are all too self-involved and want what they can't have. I found peace a long time ago thanks to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Only true peace I have ever genuinely experienced is resting in Christ!
@Urinbigtroublemister
2 жыл бұрын
@@chriskeith5742 I’ll be frank, because I don’t enjoy when people act as the gatekeepers of what is profound and what is not - what is art and what is not art. An object being profound is subjective and not concrete. As a fellow Christian I don’t think religiosity is the only conduit that constitutes what is profound and what is not. There are plenty of avenues that can spark inspiration and joy that have nothing to do with Christianity. To act like Christianity is the only conduit for divine inspiration would be to not allow yourself to see so many different and beautiful viewpoints that others hold. Just because this song doesn’t have any Evangelical ties does not make it any less profound.

So wonderful to know that this is a song of love for a beautiful and loving friendship. You two are wonderful together and I can only imagine the hell you've helped each other through. Great to see such deep and meaningful love between two friends.
I'm still going through the album, about 3-4 songs left to go, but this might be her best album to date. It's so sonically different from her past work. There's some songs that are flatout fun in a way that she never did before, but the heartbreaking songs hit even harder. This could go down as an all timer of an LP.

it's weird some people in here are talking about drinking or get drunk (guess they just got that from the title). but the song is much more meaningful, I think it's one of the best Adele ever wrote.

There she goes... Vegas...Munich... what a legend! 👏🏻
This song hits me so much because all these years I really want to stop myself from pretending someone I'm not and why am I seeking somebody's approval. I just realized that I can live my life the way that I deserved and to live it as myself without pretending to be someone I'm not and having Peace of mind because we all need the peace within ourselves. Because of this song, I'm learning to love myself, my imperfections and flaws.

This song gets me so emotional, and I'm usually the most emotionless person someone will ever meet. What makes this song even more emotional for me is realizing that this "person" she's talking abt is actually herself. And I relate to it smmmmm. Man I love Adele😭❤️
“I hope I learn to get over myself.” “Everybody wants something, you just want me.” ❤️👌 perfection

In one of her recent interviews she said she’s been listening to a lot of Marvin Gaye and Al Green, so the soulfulness definitely makes sense now. I love it!
I always knew Adele wrote powerful songs about love, heartbreak and loss but it wasn't until this album that I fully understood the compassion Adele expresses in her deeply personal songwriting. I now see the full strength of her skills and talent. Thank you Adele

I keep telling everyone 30 is Adele’s best album thus far. Reason being while 19, 21, and 25 are metaphorical albums, 30 is an inside look into Adele’s real life journal. It’s her most vulnerable and most natural album.
This song hit my soul. I could relate to it so much it is scary, she nailed it for me. Thank you, Adele. If you only knew how it touch my ❤️ heart
Her voice so soulful and relaxing just beautiful ❤️
If Adele don't get a Grammy for this album, It's gon be a problem, this album is incredible!

I'm in my mid 50s now. But it just seems like yesterday I was 30. The best advice I can give you, the same advice I'd go back and give my 30 year old self is this. Be who you are. Stop worrying about what the world thinks about you. Forget about the things you cannot change and focus on the things you can and above all this...... love........ love with every fiber of your being.... even if it means you get your heart broken. That old saying is true, TIS BETTER TO HAVE LOVED AND LOST THAN TO NEVER HAVE LOVED AT ALL. Don't worry about keeping up with the Jones' and always, always put your Father in Heaven above all else in your life. May you be healthy, wealthy and wise and live to a beautiful ripe old age.
This song hit me hard I feel it all in my soul
I love how the background singing sound emotionless is like the voice trying to pull you into frustration and sadness while Adele's voice is the voice of person will to ignore the negativity.
These lyrics are the truest thoughts we all have floating through our mind constantly or at some point at life😔😭. But it’s okay, the hardest part is to acknowledge that your drowning.
