Adding Second Battery to Engwe EP 2 Pro E bike
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Here's how I did it. There are probably many other ways. If you dare to follow these instructions and something goes wrong - it's on you. But, please send pictures of the fire truck!
The principles included are probably compatible to most all e-bikes. You should wire these in parallel, not in series.

Brilliant - I've been searching for a blue-sky thinking genius wirh the talents needed to do this rather obvious thing with any ebike(esp.folding) with an in-frame battery. Paul G
I've got a similar setup on my engine x. I too used a chopping board and a 10ah china blue. The battery sits on velcro pads attached to a neoprene rubber mat stuck to the board. There's a short clip on my channel showing the setup and later I installed a 100anp isolator switch so I could unplug it without sparking! 23ah in total and about 50-60 miles on pas 2-3. I also installed a power analyser which sits on the handlebar and I wired it in from the balancer kit up to the bar and then back down to the controller. It showed a max draw of 19amps at 960w! Easy job to do and like you I was no expert in soldering but it was fun.
Personally I am happy to increase range by just carrying an extra battery and not go through the complications of wiring it in line. Very interesting to see other options though.
Did you have to turn off regen? I know they state to not use a battery balancer with regen brakes, but I did not know if they worked fine with the much smaller hill regen on these ENGWE's?

Thanks for your comment. The Engwe EP2 Pro does not have regen.
Great video! How far can you go now with both batteries? Also, I would like to know your seatle bag and where did you buy it at? Thanks

i have not been able to ride the full distance to 'empty'... my butt wont go beyond 30 miles... but, at 30 miles, 3/4 charge remains
Thanks for your video! My GForce T42 is a similar folder and I started by upgrading my main battery to 20AH in the bike tube. My second battery will be in the rackbag. Planning on a 52V 20ah and the Sparks Blender that allows for different voltages. Your XT90S connectors looked like a good choice for hooking it all together. Did you use heat-shrink tubing over your splices or just elec tape?

my man you have no idea how many yt videos i had to watch, trying to figure out what connectors my enigine pro has, i came across your video but then saw its for ep 2 pro and didnt watch it, then i was like why not watch this as well and here not expecting anything to gain, I learn the connectors are called dean connectors. one more thing i learned while watching all those youtube videos, that some of them say dual battery set up wont work with bikes that has regen any ideas on that.
Nice work and a range test would of been nice too..

thanks for the comment... here's what i have so far... single battery was getting me just over 20 miles, with concern for running out of power.. after i added the battery, we took a 30 mile trip - i used mostly throttle, with minimal pedaling, in PAS 3. After this trip, only one of the 4 power indicators were out. If I extrapolated this, I figure I can get at least 60 miles, throttle only, in PAS 3.... my butt can't tolerate much more than 30 or so miles!
Can we just disconnect the 2nd battery and run the bike with the frame battery only as normal if needed ? Or we need to have the two batteries running with this settup?
@easygoingepps5571

you can either run one battery until it dies, then start using the other one.... OR, connect them in parallel, as i have, so that both run simultaneously. some people say that running two batteries at the same time will result in more distance than running two batteries individually.

@@easygoingepps5571 I ordered everything I need and received pretty much everything now. The only things missing are the 2nd engwe 16ah battery that I will mount in an homemade case inside another softcase mounted on the back rack. I have a male 5 pin connector and will make a base for the battery and the connector so they hold in place securely. So, I need to disable the Regen Braking in the menu, is that right? Do I "need" to disable it or it can be dangerous for the batteries or the feature just won't work? The info about that on internet is kinda vague

@@jimmyberubelevesque2557 i do not have an answer to that question.. my bike is not the regen braking type
Same I am wondering if it would work on an Engine Pro which has regenerative brakes but can be disabled.

I got one, what's the question, with regen braking?
@jimmyberubelevesque2557

@@JUNIORGONG.ASFxCK That additionnal battery apparently won't work with regen braking. So the question is : Does that mean that the additionnal battery won't be charged up by the regen brake? Or it means that the regen brake will no longer work for both batteries? Or does that mean that that specific battery won't work on bikes with regen brakes?

@@jimmyberubelevesque2557 I thought this was an actual 2nd engwe battery, I am very sorry for stating otherwise, I literally cannot answer that question. If I did, it’d be maybe not for just the 2nd First should work fine, but if the rear battery doesn’t stop it from applying itself, I’m interested now too 🫡🙏🏼

With that second battery, is it possible to turn off the main battery and taking off the key without it turning off the bike?
@PlaynDoc
10 ай бұрын
yes... you can turn off first battery and remove key, and keep running on the 2nd battery.... the bike will run entirely on the second battery - which does not require a key. it increases theft risk, i guess... but, i chain it up when im not around it..

@philgreen815

Well each bike is designed to run on specific voltages, trying to overload electronics for more speed is risky ? A guy in the US did this and it spontaneously combusted and caught fire 🔥
So I ordered a second battery (48v 13ah) for my ep-2 pro. Battery and balancer using the same plug as ep-2 pro. I hope it's easy plug and play operation :D

Update. All parts arrived. Connectors are the same. Battery mounted on the rack. Thanks for the chopping board trick 😅
Why not get the same battery and just keep the spare in a bag mounted on the rack? That's what I'm going to do. No mods.

that's certainly a way to do it... i get about 20 miles on one battery.... i get over 60 miles on two connected batteries (same riding path and technique)... i dont know why two connected ones last longer than 2 separate ones... but, that's how it's working for me
