Absolutely brilliant explanation. Love the drawings and the multimeter visuals. The fuse that you tapped into went to a device your car does not have - why put the original fuse into the fuse tap? Why not insert the fuse that you need for your particular circuit?

Thank you! "The fuse that you tapped into went to a device your car does not have - why put the original fuse into the fuse tap" - Good question! I don't actually need a fuse tap or an additional circuit, I just made the video for fun. It's just an example and not to be taken too literally. You can leave it blank for sure as the new device only needs the power side! :)

Very informative. I usually spliced off the cig lighter for aftermarket radios which I’m very lucky to never caused a total fire. My Civic did start smoking from electrical fire(coming from radio area). Thanks for this guide as I will try to do my future electrical hacking in a safer way.

You'll (probably) be ok, but I imagine your wallet won't be haha! Rather than buying all the wire/terminals/etc to run it directly from the engine bay, I sometimes found those amp wiring kits to be a bit cheaper (Even if its not for an amp; but a stereo)

Excellent info. I do have adjustable peddles fused nut no adjustable peddles. I can use that one. I also have several powered, unused sockets but the tap is loose when inserted. Why is that and how would you correct it? Brilliant episode. You are very through and you explain it very well. Thank you

Thanks so much! I'm guessing the tap is poor quality. It should be a standard size. Is it possible to bend one terminal one way, and the other, the other way? (to get a snug fit; if it's not a safety critical accessory).

hello, really informative and helpful, I just had one question, I want to install some aftermarket led lights and I've located 2 vacant slots in the fusebox which show that they are for "fuel injector gsl" in the fusebox diagram of my particular vehicle and I was wondering if they were safe to use, I tried googling to no avail and finally asking you for help after watching your educative video. Thanks!

It's probably for a different model, but they are using the same fuse box across all models, kinda like I already mentioned in the video. Does the vacant slot have power?

So if I have an accessory that comes already wired with a relay and a fuse is it necessary for me to tap into the fuse box or can I just hardwire the accessory to a direct power source? Great vid btw👏

I kinda covered this in the video already with regards to fuse placement, but yes, connect it to a power course and you're good to go! :)

If you live in an area without fog, I guess, why not. I wouldn't do it in the UK though haha! I need those if something goes wrong!
