Adding a kill switch to a vintage Mercury 110 2 Stroke 9.8 HP Outboard Motor

Simply adding a kill switch to my vintage outboard so if I fall out it won't leave me!

    Where did you get the rubber washer from? Great video! I am going to do this to my 1984 Mercury 4.5 HP Two Stroke.

    It was one I had in a bin of rubber washers, no idea where I got it.

    Does it also function as a stop button like the original? I’d like to add the lanyard to my old mercury same style but I don’t want to have to pull the lanyard off to stop the engine if I can still just push the button, only want it for an emergency if I get tossed from the boat.

    Yes, you can push and hold the button in without removing the lanyard off. I have never pulled the lanyard to shutdown an outboard.
