Addictively Frustrating - Part#3 Sambar Deer Solo Backpack Hunting October 2019
Solo hunt into the Victorian High Country chasing the elusive Sambar Deer. These animals are addictively frustrating to hunt and the challenge of a multi day backpack hunting is a huge drawcard.

As a whitetail hunter from the states, I really enjoy your deer hunting. The sounds and sights are all beautiful, and all different from what I hear and see. Thanks for taking us along and the time and money spent to do the videos. Good be with you my friend. 👍🇦🇺

Such a great set of videos. It was really good to watch, I felt as though I was on the hunt with you. I’m glad you had some strong medication for your migraine, they can be horrible. Thanks for sharing the adventure, it’s a big commitment to travel so far to hunt in that area.

Thanks mate. That first night was bloody rough with the migraine I tell ya. Dead keen to get back this year. Last year was a complete flop with covid unfortunately.
Nice Bag! A good girth on on him. So he was the King of 'Misery Ridge' ;D Enjoying the varied content you're putting up, a lot of work to document, direct and star in your own production! Well done Buddy! 👌Thanks 👏👏👏

Heaps less people in many area's if remote. Fingers crossed I can get back down soon as 2020 was a failure with COVID-19. I'm keen to film a trip like this now. I've improved a bit of gear etc since these three videos were done only using my mobile phone.
Really enjoyed that mate, well done great adventure 👍👍

😂 Would love to see how a mesh mask went down. Probably as useful as these things we are all wearing anyway 🤦♂️
I've spent more than 50 years hunting ,fishing and camping in the Victorian Alps and it always has a surprise around the next corner and I can tell you there are as many Sambar close to populated areas as there are in the wilderness areas .I live less than 50 klm as the crow flys from Melbourne and there are Sambar between me and the city in fact I am surrounded by them but unfortunately we can't hunt them unless you can get onto private land

Fascinating animal to hunt for sure
11 losers that don't love Australia disliked this video. What beautiful Bush, light and Australian sounds in nature. Great video, such a great effort hunting, filming and all your post production work👍

Who knows mate. This was one of my earlier videos and things have improved slightly. There's always people who dislike a video just because the title is hunting.

Thanks for replying. I'm a city guy from Sydney, never held a gun in my life, but my grandparents were both from the Bush. Your channel is just so interesting, your way of explaining your craft and your camera work makes me feel I'm right there with you walking through hot, cold and all those weeds and thistles!! Lol. Its obvious you really admire and respect the Australian country, your my new fav channel. I know support only does alittle bit, but I'm going to join because your channel brings so much happiness and I always learn so much every video. Matt.

@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK there's heaps of pests to have a go at. Sadly, some of the worst are Aussie imports. But plenty of good eating from some of them. Nothing like hunting deer in the high mountains, mate!

Really enjoy your vids mate. Solo hunting looks really appealing. I feel like im on a tour and really get the feel of what it’s like. Definitely a goal to do a solo hunt once I’ve had a few trips with mates under my belt. I liked the sign off too. Very subtle! 🖕🏼👌🏼😁Thanks for sharing. Ps: what mic do you use with your phone? Is it an iPhone?

Thanks mate. Glad you liked it. I enjoy the solo side of things. Really grounding but you need the confidence and a few skills when going into the unknown. Great with mates too though. I use a Huawei P30 Pro phone and the mic is just a cheapie with the windshield. Works okay for now.
Another great video. Were you able to save any of the meat?

@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK My friend, I hunted Sambar before you were born! Back then we used to call them "Ghost Deer". I was bitten by a copperhead, had encounters with tigers, and kicked the blacks out of the way! Got bogged in my troopie and walked out 24 k's to get help and pull me out. I lived in Wodonga and hunted and fished all the time. Now I live in USA, but coming back home soon! As retired, I will spend my time between grandchildren and Sambar and mix in trout. Keep on hunting and enjoying the great Vic alps!
