Part 1 - Sambar Hunting Sojourn into Australia's Victorian High Country

Спорт

Join Andre Alipate and Jamie Carle on their annual hunting sojourn into Australia's Victorian High Country in pursuit of Sambar deer.
This trip took place over a 7 day period during early August of 2018
The hunting films are intended to be released over the course of the next few weeks as a multi-series similar to what was previously released on my channel for the May 2018 Sambar backpack hunting films - • Day 1 - Backpack Samba... .
Please feel free to share this hunting film (Part 1) with family or friends and remember to stay tuned for more to come. I suspect these hunting films will be spread across 5 or 6 Parts.
I aim to release Part 2 in the next 5 to 7 days. Until then, I hope you enjoy Part 1...

You two crazy buggers love to set yourselves daunting challenges. Cold as it may have been I bet the life went out of you when you laid down on your mattress in warm clothes. Not only have you had a massive first day but to film it all as well as you have is something I for one really appreciate. Many may not realise how easy a hunting trip can turn to survival in these conditions. Your preparation of mind, body and gear shows not only how passionate you boys are but more so your respect for the environment in which you hunt. Failure to prepare is preparing to fail. This is going to be a journey I so look forward to following. Thanks again mate. P.S. One of the boys took in a little battery radio with us and the local weather reports were very handy and probably saved us from getting stuck in on the last day. Jamie I will be very keen to speak to you about this Inreach unit as we have contemplated them for some time. Talk soon

Reece Simmonds that snow was cold, thankfully i had borrowed a ground mat off Dirk Branford who hunted with me in May, that was a life saver compared to the deflating usefless rollmat i have. Despite the snow being cold it was nice and soft as it was about 7 or 8 inches deep in that clearing. cheers for watching

@@markmitchell7609 mate i totally get it, i was in your shoes between 2011 and 2015 when i went underground due to family commitments, i stopped writing for nzhunter, i stopped doing stuff with stoney creek, i stopped even hunting, i stopped contributing on forums and I even stopped updating my own website... but now things are freeing up a little more; but still its a fraction of the "hey days"... oh man were thr hey days good lol

Cant wait to see the rest of this. I had a tough week near the Dargo high plains & Omeo. Plenty of deer along the lower river flats, but the first half of my week I was just trying to survive! Lots of snow, at very low altitudes. The second half of my week the wind was still playing havoc, changing directions frequently. I really only had one good morning of hunting but unfortunately came home empty-handed. Great fun though and learnt heaps.

AnthonyPeterson i understand your concerns, yes those wintery alpine conditions can certainly test your gear and physical/mental faculties to the limit. Glad you got out the other side of it though. The things we do for sambar!!

Good stuff Jamie. You two blokes are dedicated I’ll give you that. I’d been watching those hills and the weather while you were up there and bro it looked cold and miserable. Always good to get away with long time hunting mates with the same mindset and goals for what you want to do with your time over here. It’s still in my books the best time of the year to hunt over in vic and the inclement weather can keep a few away👍. Happy hunting can’t wait to watch the rest of the series. Thanks for the effort you guys put into this trip. Ps I hope the info b4 you got over here was helpfull

G'day Jamie and Andre. I am the guy that bumped into you that day. Cheers for the selfie, my wife thought it was hilarious that I was more excited about seeing you guys than celebrities... Will share my trip report via email. It will be interesting to compare notes from the same location and conditions as I noted some truly peculiar behavior from the always perplexing sambar. Really looking forward to the rest of this series and thanks again for such brilliant videos.
