Wow I really feel sorry for Niquita here. Her lack of support system is sad to see, she must feel so alone, the comment her fiance made about how easy it is for him to go out and get somebody else, I’d be dumping him there and then, I’m not going to stay with someone who’s gonna make me feel like an option. Her mum isn’t any better, not even praising her for taking a couple of bites of a salad that she ordered, At least she tried it and didn’t spit it out, also why is a psychologist who is supposed to be an expert tell somebody to just get over their trauma? I’m sorry but someone qualified in psychology should know better than to tell someone that. All of them put together did a terrible job with her. I hope she’s doing okay now

Her bf was not a nightmare, he is with her 11 years, 11 f years, I wouldn't take that bs for more than a few months, just because he didn't sugar coated? After 11 years he is nice enough to still have the patience to talk to her calmly, he should have left her years ago, he works out and it's active, I was in a relationship where my bf was a skinny sedentary guy and it was awful when I wanted to hike, to climb mountains, have a walk in the park, go out at night , go to parties, travel and so on and never wanted to the things BC never had the energy , he was extremely picky whilst eating, but not as bad as her, we lasted 5 years and a half, because he was nice enough to eat what I cooked and when he didn't wanted or liked the menu of the day he would order his own food without complaining , but it was very draining , tiring and worn you out , she sleeps by why she told herself 10-12 hours everyday , plus her work around 8 hours, she has like 4 hours of her day free, which she is not working out with her bf who clearly likes working out or doing nearly anything with him BC he said and even her mum "she has no drive, she is always tired", sucks to be in a relationship like this and sorry he is not a "nightmare" to complain, is not even about about how she aesthetically looks, it's about how to live with someone like this becomes stressful and sometimes even insufferable

They did a god awful job with this poor woman. Just telling her to 'get over' her trauma, the mother victim blaming her own daughter for her attack and 'wanting her old Nikita back' the boyfriend getting irritated with her for struggling with the potato, and the enforced singing performance. So much of this was done so badly, and I wouldn't be surprised if the poor woman was even more traumatised when it comes to food by the end of it. Every person in her life is making her trauma about them, how it makes them feel and putting all of that on her to fix for THEM not for herself. The pressure and the fear of letting them down is the main driver here, not getting well for her own health and benefit. The 'psychologist' never calls this out. This honestly made me so ragey.

Having grown up as a “freaky eater” myself, I can absolutely relate to this exact episode and her experience with food down to a T. The reason I believe she was able to overcome and stomach the food when she finally cooked it herself is it was a massive step in KNOWING what’s in the food. It removes the fear of the unknown, which causes most of the gag reflex , honestly I had the exact same thing. I basically trained myself for a year to get over it but I could never eta out, I was always picking at my food, would always go hungry, never ate any veg it was a very similar situation. She did amazing.

Also….. she did so well despite everyone around her putting so much immense pressure and pushing her towards unnecessary limits that literally make her take a step back …. For me I was so easily triggered by my family and their responses and opinions to my eating habits that even when I was making progress their teasing and horrible comments made me regress, made me feel unsafe and would set me back. I remember very clearly telling them all they were not allowed to ever get involved with my eating make any comments and set firm boundaries…. A year and a half / 2 years later I was able to eat almost everything and never had anymore issues with food, and they literally forgot I had that issue too… it’s amazing what a person can get through when they are determined

Instead of throwing away all that food, they should ask the participants to donate it to homeless shelters and other needy causes.... same with all the food they make to show the people how much they eat in a year. The bread looked old. The show is known for this though. It is not new to people who watch it. Also, we really only get the image of the food. It probably goes in the trash or was donated for the show by groceries or shelters where they have too much food to take. I worked at a shelter and we had to toss quite a bit of food away. Old bread is given and it spoils quickly. Meat is frozen though and will last a bit longer but is only really given to families that can cook it of actually eat it all. Many homeless also don't have many teath so they cannot chew normally.

Starting with mushrooms, cauliflower, CHARD WITH HAZELNUTS???? I doubt many “normal” eaters would like some of the offerings they started her with. 😢

I have a similar eating problem. My diet isn't as restricted as hers, but I do have the 'I can't eat that without being sick' mentality about certain foods. It makes life really hard sometimes. I'll watch the people around me happily eating pastas or turkey sandwiches or certain vegetables, but if I try to eat them, sometimes I can't even make myself put them in my mouth without instantly feeling like I'm going to throw up. Life feels pretty hopeless because of it sometimes. Especially when all you have left in the house to eat is a can of potted meat, dry bread, and a few condiments. Then, I feel ashamed of myself, because I know those few items would be a blessing to SO many people, but here I am dreading eating them. I remember one Thanksgiving my family was out of town while I was house sitting for them, and the neighbors invited me to join them for their Thanksgiving dinner because they didn't want me to spend Thanksgiving alone, and I cried for three days before the holiday because I was so worried and stressed out about not being able to eat anything they served and hurting someone's feelings. Went well, in the end, though. I ate very little, which no one seemed to notice. It was a nice evening with a wonderful family... My biggest issue with nutritionists is how wasteful they are. They always tell you to throw away sometimes hundreds of dollars worth of perfectly good food while there are people out there who would literally kill to have that can of beans you just threw away. Like, wtf? Are you people willfully blind to the struggles of those who truly have nothing? For god's sake, they could at least get some volunteers to take the food to shelters instead of just having people throw it in the trash. It's just so willfully ignorant to the plight of people who genuinely do NEED that food. They're just spitting in people's eyes when they tell you to throw away good food. They could stock entire charities with the food that just goes into landfills. I have homeless friends who only get to eat if the local dumpsters have enough food in them, and it's hard to see what they go through just to get one decent meal a week. Also, a word of encouragement from a former shy person to other people with confidence problems: Always be you, loud and proud as you'd like. If someone doesn't like it, they're clearly not someone who's meant to be in your life, and that's better than ok, because you should surround yourself with as many people who DO like it as you possibly can. You don't like something someone else likes? That's fine for them, they can have it, and that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you. That's just you doing your own thing to be happy, and if someone doesn't want you to be happy, they're not worth your energy or the perks that come with knowing and accepting you.

@@user-yf2zd8xw5x I have a very reasonable diet. For supper tonight I had lettuce wrap tacos for example and raw brazil nuts for snack earlier. And I refuse to eat raw fish. I refuse to eat most raw vegetables without something on them. I am happy to eat them with a light red wine vinegarette. They really did set her up to fail. I can see a nice piece of salmon seared in a bit of butter well seasoned with some freshly streamed and seasoned green beans but raw fish and raw veggies with nothing on them? They didn't really expect her to eat that.

I don't feel much of the support from the family tbh. She is trying to overcome it, yet still they just have no patience with her. Few days after she was in the new regime, when she invited her mom to eat...mom was still giving her shit that she made little progress. What was she expecting? That it's just gonna go away in a day or what? Like day 1 you eat a veggie and day 2 you can eat a salad or what? Overcomming trauma and addiction is a lengthy process and you have to fight it until you die. That is how this shit is. If she has a weak will, she might have to avoid burgers and bacon 'till her death bed, since relapsing is just so easy. It's easy to grill someone over their addiction than encouraging their efforts to change it

What she went through was traumatic. She needed to vent all of that pain. NEVER interrupt someone sharing their pain and past. Let them heal in anyway that they need too! As long as it doesn't cause harm to themselves or others
