Add Swashes To Text Using Path Effects [Advanced Inkscape Tutorial]
In this Inkscape tutorial I'll be demonstrating how you can add some character to your text by drawing swashes. To do this we will be using the Pencil Tool and the Power Stroke path effect.

There is one happy Inkscape user in EU/in Slovakia/ in small village Bratislava (ehm capital) watching your content & enjoying it VERY MUCH every time. Thank you! 😅👋👍
THANK YOU! I've seen so many designers doing tutorials on how to customize type with the pen tool in Illustrator but literally no one has done one for Inkscape. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'd love to see more videos like this. I was starting to think nobody who uses Inkscape ever makes alterations to type for logos, LOL.
These tutorials are always clear and concise. Thank you.
You are an outstanding Inkscape tutor Nick. Thanks so much once again.
This would be great for adding weight to lineart
Every time a new video from you is uploaded I know what to expect: a well presented, concise and easy to understand topic. Thank you for all your work 🙂! You made an Inkscape easy for all xx
Thank you! I’ve been looking everywhere to know how to do that in Inkscape and finally we have this tutorial, thank you so much
Brilliant technique to extend letters. Thanks so much 👍
Very interesting, thanks. Did you notice, in LPE's panel, that you can choose rounded start and/or end caps ? If not 100 % statisfied with it , you can also Ctrl (CMD) - click on one pink powerstroke handle to duplicate it and move it closer to the end and refine the shape there.
Clear and concise tutorial Nick!
The best ever, Logos By Nick👌🏼👊🏼
Amazing Tutorial, thanks Nick!
Love this tip Nick. I've been struggling to get nice consistent shapes when customizing type. Looking forward to practicing this technique
Thanks, Nick. Awesome!
Excellent Tutorial.
Great work there Sir.
Nice lesson. Thank you.
great tutorial, thank you
This is really cool effect for Blackletter Fonts thanks as always Nick
Cool. Thanks.
Cool thanks a lot
Thank you
brilliant.
This tutorial is a totally awesome find! Thank you so much for sharing. I wonder if this works in the business edition of Silhouette app too. Liked and subscribed ❤
Nice approach, thanks for the video. Those final roundings you do with the eraser seem to me a good example to take advantage of the LPE corner shortcut in the tool control bar.

I tried the LPE but didn't like the result. The angles are too sharp.

@@LogosByNick You are right, I think it is because of the type of method it uses to calculate the fillet. By default it comes in auto, if you change it to force bezier it looks more natural and this parameter can be done by default. I have it like that and I didn't realize it 🙂
Great 🎉
............ SUPER VIDEO !!!!! GREAT !!!! LIKE !!!!
Hey Nick, always look fwd to your tutorials! Always a great & useful knowledge you share. Thank you. You once did a tutorial with that line effect like NB logo does for their brand. Can you direct me to that please?
Very cool! Thank you! I had entirely forgotten about the power stroke path effect! Is there a reason to use the pencil tool instead of the pen tool? Is one better than the other in certain situations?
EXCELLENT. THANKS. Can the font be used for commercial use?
