I use the 50mm from my dad's Canon AE-1, his first "nice" camera, on my A7C. Looks good, and gives me a sense of history.

Good infos, thanks! How do you find the manual focus experience of the A7C2? On my Sony A74 I need to press the focus magnification button 3 times to zoom in and out, which is annoying!

i actually find it really nice. you can adjust the initial mag for less clicks. might make a video on my settings for that.

@@PJM-Mediayou should be able to go back to normal view with a half-shutter press. I don’t have the exact menu item handy but you can search for it online. It’s one of the reasons I like using vintage lenses better on Sony and Fuji cameras compared to Nikon and Canon cameras.

Do you use a Av mode mostly? Or manual with auto ISO? And regarding focussing, if you use AF lenses, do you mostly use AI features, single point AF or zone focussing? Figuring out what the ideal settings are for street!

Mostly use A priority if the lighting is good. Then i switch to manual exposure closer to golden hour. and yes i shoot single point with tracking. i only zone focus with my vintage lenses. thanks for asking.

The sharpest Minolta lenses are the mc iii’s or Rokkor-x in the US. It’s downhill from there. Md’s are considered to be less sharp.

@@xhynetuseinovski There's the minolta easypix de - lenses webpage with an index of the Minolta SR lenses incl the differences between the different revisions. For what it's worth I've only shot the MD 50/2 and it is the sharpest SR lens I've used, at least wide open. Nice video by the way, using older mf lenses is one of the nice things about mirrorless

@@xhynetuseinovski Yes, that sounds like the case. If you can, find a Rokkor-x and male the comparison again.

The reason to attach the lens to the adapter before putting it on the camera is because the force of twisting the lens into the adapter will eventually strip the threads on the camera mount.

Yes a cheap Minolta Lens is definitely a replacement for a $4500 50mm Summilux... if it was atleast somewhat the same lens formular as you find in modern chinese lenses... but no it's just the a not even good 50mm... this is the definition of "poser"

Well I never made that comparison in this video, but we’ll go along with it. I would say though that at least half the leica guys out there are shooting with voigtlanders anyway and a nice 50mm voigtlander would be a nice pairing. I would also wager a good bet that you wouldn’t be able to tell a difference between two photos taken one with the minolta 50 and one with the voigtlander. You have to actually be a good photographer for the 50slux to actually be worth the price tag.
