Adam Savage Incognito at Comic-Con 2018!
Ғылым және технология
Watch Adam's build of this costume here: • Adam Savage's One Day ...
Adam goes on his annual incognito walk through San Diego Comic-Con, this time on the 49th anniversary of the Moon landing! His costume this year is a replica of the first high-altitude pressure suit, made in 1935 for famed aviator Wiley Post. While on the floor, Adam takes photos with attendees and even meets a No Face cosplayer!

Yep. I did my first cosplay about 3 or 4 years ago as No Face and someone yelled out "ADAM SAVAGE!!" when they saw me. Oh boy I was so freaking giddy. The only similarities from his and mine were the cloth, hands, and size (most no face cosplayers are tiny). Because of Adam I'm continuing my pursuit of cosplaying :+D

Hell yeah, it is. To anyone who knows anything about Adam Savage, anyway. I mean, come on, if a costume is good enough that someone thinks it could be an Adam Savage creation, that's definitely the "you've arrived baby!" moment.

Kid that asked, “are you Adam?” here and I just wanted to say... having watched all of the incognitos I figured this year if I did happen upon him I’d have something cooler to say. As it turns out “are you Adam” is all that I could mutter. Haha better luck next time I guess!
Your next Adam Incognito should be the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Hey Adam if you want to stay cooler in cosplays that cover everything visit an outdoors store and buy a fly fishing vest with pockets in front and back made of netting. Then go the the icepack section in the store and pick ones that fit the pockets. Freeze them and wear it in the costume. Im a welding and cutting contractor who has to wear lots of jackets and hoods during summer months and this works!!

His attention to detail and accuracy is phenomenal and that’s why he’s one of the best in the industry. Plus he has so much fun doing it. Thanks Adam.
**Adam goes undercover** Other people at the con: Somethings wrong, I can feel it.
You guys should create playlists for “Adam Savage's One Day Builds” and “Adam Savage Incognito” my two favorite categories on this channel.
How to ID Adam: In addition to an incredible level of quality and detail, one can now listen for the fan in his cooling suit.

Adam. You are THE GUY that got me into this kinda stuff. You inspired me from a very young age to build and create things with my own two hands, and now I have my very own workshop and am building things of my choosing with the inspiration that you gave me. You are my hero. Thankyou
Dude, that is just a gem of a costume, simple, yet not, and best of all historical and unique in so many ways. Bravo man, you are an inspiration and a joy to follow, love your channel!
I look forward to this every year.
Simply but SO awesome!
I was so thrilled Adam built the Wiley Post pressure suit!!! I've been a huge fan of Wiley Post for years Every day, I wear an original 1931 Bulova 'Round-the World" wristwatch - built for Wiley to wear and determine official time for his around the world flight, that year. Forget the Comic-Con crowd! Adam should be standing next to a Lockheed Vega!
Adam your knowledge and passion for things like these is truly inspiring , thanks for the content!
Your appreciation of history and space is great. Wish I still had it.
All of Adam's costumes are amazing
This was awesome watching him build this suit I actually watch the whole videos! Love them man!

The suit looked great. I do wonder why you didn't add a small DC air pump to that hose going into the helmet. A small 9v air pump would fit in the palm of your hand. As you were carrying the pipe anyway adding a pump would have been pretty much invisible. They are also quiet as they are for use in domestic fish tanks. Anyways, great build. Looking forward to what you will be wearing on the 50th anniversary of the moon landings. If I were going to ComicCon, I'd be keeping my eye out for any Neil Armstrongs with the visor down. (Unless you shave the face fuzz and go for some brown hair dye, for the ultimate disguise)

Adam is on the bucket list of people I want to meet.
I love how Adam Savage has a passion for quality made items and is able to create most of the outfit. Also liked how he found a glove maker on etsy and considered them to be of high quality.
I just love Adams incognito walks!
Waiting for this video
I would love to see you wear this in the museum where the original one is to see them side by side and to see the reactions of the staff
I watched the some hour long video and truly am not disappointed with the results.
Adam, i thought you wanted to implement an air pump to the costume, i assume you ran out of time
The next level detail is what makes Adam on the floor sometimes. I’d love to see an “All found items” down and dirty cosplay next year and see the magic that Adam can do with things us muggles could get our hands on. Then see if someone makes him.
Love this suit!
Really well done 👍
I dunno the odds of you seeing this but, Adam watching these videos got me into conventions and cosplay building, I went to supercon this year as Connor from Detroit become human, it's just a suit but that thing was hot and sweaty and I can't imagine walking around in the amazing costumes you make, I've been watching your work since season 1 of mythbusters and I really hope I can meet you in person someday.
I love this man so much
Great costume! I would recommend cutting vents around the porthole for ventilation and defogging.
I love how Bioshock took inspiration from diving suits and these kinds of suits. It's what made the game so vintage and steam punk feeling. By far one of my favorite games of all time...
The way he was walking around all slumped over, he looked like a sad, lonely, steampunk minion. They should've been playing tuba music. LMAO I love it. The helmet is awesome.
To help with the fogging of clear parts, try Bob Heath Visor spray, or any motorcycle helmet spray, they are fantastic for stopping fog.
That suit was in about a million of my childhood dreams . used to see that at the Smithsonian. Looks amazing!
A few engineering details for the next iteration or others that want to make one. The barb fitting on the visor's left was for the pressurized air supply, blowing across the visor to keep it defogged, and delivering the fresh air right at the mouth and nose. The right side fitting was a dump valve to release the suit pressure. Another fitting belongs in the inner left calf area for the air exhaust, connected by a 4-5 ft. hose to a pressure regulator so he could adjust it as needed. The electrical connector at the lower left chin position was for the earphones and throat mic mounted to the inside of the helmet and has a TSR (stereo 1/4 inch) connector on the end of the cable. This was his "Mark 3" suit, the first one ruptured during testing, the second one had to be cut apart to get him out after testing.
It’s very nice !
The music when he walks around is so fitting for the costume.
Adam, I love you, but you have to work on remembering ventilation on your costumes!

@@PittsburghSonido it is knotted on the inside, it was not an air supply. There was no ventilation, that's also why it was dripping water at the end of the video.

Dang Adam, you live my dream life! Hope to meet you someday, have a good day my friend and all the folks at Tested... Even you Norm. ;)
the things you make are incredible, wish i wasn't broke so i could see u at comicon lol
That was so cool Adam! So bummed more people didnt catch on it was you this year! Also dude... I figured you had wired up a fan or something for air... Great build!
Some of the music you used for this reminds me of the classic Snoopy theme, which fits since I think Adam and Snoopy are creatures of a kind in many ways.
These are the only reason I subscribe to Tested.....
That was so cool that you did Wiley Post. If I'm correct the faceplate on the original was offset so he had better side vision for his one eye, but other than that an awesome costume.
This dude becomes like 50 years older when he takes his glasses off. Seriously, he looks like he is fresh in his late thirties with glasses, and late in his fifties without them.
Dude your awesome
The hose feed on the left of the faceplate and the corresponding valve on the right of the faceplate was how the visit was kept fog free. Air pressure from the left and regulated exhaust on the right produced a breeze across the faceplate to keep it fog free. Maybe a mod for later if you plan on wearing it for extended times, fed from a small scuba pony bottle with a fan nozzle blowing across the faceplate would work, you wouldn't need much flow to keep it clear and give you a cooling breeze in the head area.
@sampointau
5 жыл бұрын
And that's "Visor" not visit which autocorrect erroneously replaced it with! Lol
for your next space suit you should find a way to inflate it. but have an opening on one end so you can get some air flow
Definitely your best choice of costume yet - I love that helmet! And I think I might have figured out who you were - I even own an entire book about pressure suits :).
A similar suit, in blue, is/was displayed in the Dayton aviation museum. It was blue, though. Near the Apollo 15 capsule...
Awesome video
ur my hero
I bought two of the shirts, love the show
So Wiley Post Airport is about 3min from my house. It's perhaps 1-3 airstrips big, and centered in suburban hell. I knew so little about him despite growing up in this town, and now have a cool dinner party fact thanks to you Adam! Cosplay Suggestion: Dwarven Centurion from Skyrim. I think it'd be an awesome foam cosplay, and the amount of weathering you could do would nothing shy of beautiful. I'm not sure if you're the gaming type, but I think it'd be a really fun challenge!
Could have hid some slits in the top or sides for ventilation, and a little PC case fan and a small battery pack in the helmet. It would have stayed cool inside and kept the glass from fogging up.
adam you are my hero
i hope to see you at C2E2 2020!
As we are about the same age - I am right there with you and the corrective contact lens dilemma. I am Myopic as well, and almost 51, so I need reading glasses with my contacts in. Ah well... GREAT JOB on the suit!! Cheers!! 👍🏻
way to be on trend! 😉
For full body suits like that have you considered adding a small pump and fan system for at least the helmets? They only add a few ounces and can be easily hidden.
This is super cool. I had no idea about the history here, and I love it. Although, if you told me this was a design someone came up with for a cool limited run model kit, I’d believe you
Perfect costume for 2020
Hey Adam I'm surprised you havent made a Mon Calamari costume yet. Would be fun to watch that making for that.
haha I love everything about this! =)
Adam in the one day build video you mentioned you would use the tube going into the helmet for cooling, why did you not do it? Even a fan blowing down from the top of the helmet to help keep you cool and keep the screen from fogging.
The protective suit I wear for 3 wheeler racing is optimized for a sitting position, I can still stand, but the knees bulg out, and the sides of the knees are tailored for sitting
Thanks Adam for the gloves credits !!!! ^_^
If Adam ever plans to come down under/non-US cons, it would be a bucket list dream come true.
Awesome costume, Adam. I did notice in one original picture (of Wiley Post) that he had a black felt pad on top of the helmet that yours didn't have. That spot would've been a good spot to drill a large hole in the top of the helmet to let heat/moisture escape out the top. A circle of black mesh could be attached on top to give you the look of that photo, plus giving you some added ventilation too.. #justsayin
maybe an upgrade you can do on the mask is right where the front attaches, have a small section of painted open cell foam, like from ski masks, along the bottom and then on the top. Being behind the big gear, it would be less noticeable, but like on a ski mask can prevent fogging and help let the heat out.
Could u please do an updated edc video??? I’m very curious to know what you carry on yourself every day and if anything has changed since your last video.
Finally.
I couldn't help but think.... that the red tube was going to be for air... then at the end of the vid_ tube's tied! lol WTF? Were you even breathing in that velcro-sealed helmet? LOL Heroic effort mate! *Salutes*
Thanks for not letting Norm say anything!!!!!!!
Come to Australia!
I absolutely loved this build. I'm always so impressed with your attention to detail and your skill in weathering, as well as withstanding the heat of a costume all day. On the subject of details, and I don't want this to seem like I'm bashing the build, there are a few I saw in the photo online that were missing. There's probably a valid reason, as you did more research than me and are wholly more knowledgeable on this topic, but nevertheless I thought I'd mention it. Looking at the photo on the Smithsonian, it looks like you missed a few details: there's a thicker red hose on the right side of the helmet that connects to the facehole thing; I didn't see the orange eyelets on the forearm and shin leather pieces; and there looks to be what I'd guess is foam on the top of the helmet. Either way, this build was gorgeous and I loved watching an HOUR LONG One Day Build. I love those so much; they help me relax and focus after stressful things happen. Love what you do, to all of you at Tested, and especially Adam.
The helmet reminds me of bioshock the game so much I love it!
Sick boots, adam. Would totally wear it any day.
A few years back I dress up at comic con in a space suit made from real Russian high altitude flight components. The gold face shield was cut to look like that classic happy face button and looked like he was man inside the helmet. Not really based on any pop culture character. Rave spaceman I guess lol. Love your costume! A piece of history. I completely understand the appeal for everyone to dress up like your favorite character but how interesting would comic con be if a lot more people also created and dress up as their own original characters. There should be a costume competition for best original character. Maybe it could inspire a story.
Amazing cosplay! Having worn a full suit for an event (not a ComicCon), I was amazed, too, at how incredibly hot they can be. Though I had the added side-effect of discovering I am latex sensitive with the head being latex foam. I had done fittings while making it but not long enough for a full reaction. I had run out of time to do a test run walkabout before the event, something any cosplayer should never ever skip.
So glad he finally said why he only wears one contact lens...
If I ever saw an over done costume at Comic-Con, I would know it was you Adam without a doubt.
I'd have tried to go for the piping cool air in through the little tube if you ever made changes to that part, would make wearing it much nicer
