Ғылым және технология
We're behind the scenes during the production of Alien: Covenant, where we step inside the elaborate set created for David's lair. Adam explores the details of this densely dressed set, packed with props and beautiful artwork that we only glimpsed on screen. The amount of work put into this laboratory of horrors is incredible!

David's lair should be in a museum somewhere that is amazing.
Fucking beautiful. I hope they preserve the set-pieces somewhere.

Most of the props and drawings were probably saved, but the set itself was most likely completely destroyed. :(

Good thing they do not keep EVERY set they make.. Keeping props is understandable since you can reuse them.

Imagine a museum entirely filled with all set pieces and props from the whole franchise. I wouldn't mind living there for the rest of my life
David's Lair was one of my favorite parts about Covenant. The thought that a robot us humans created, was on another planet, exploring, researching, and thinking out of it's own curiosity, was simply astounding. It immersed me into his world, and made me wish I could spend hours in his lab, observing everything he has collected and researched after all those years.

It would have been more interesting to make a movie about the alien the engineers thought was a god & them trying to recreate its blood & coming up with that black liquid shit. But they wanted to make dickheads in space as a sequel.

What a really nice set. Acting in such an environment must be an awesome experience in contrast with green-screen. I always love these inside looks into the production. Thanks Tested:)
I've really appreciated Adam's coverage of Covenant, it's wonderful having a fan explore these sets with the same awe and excitement I would have.
As a designer/art director myself, I would absolutely love to be involved in a project like this.

What do you think about the movie? Did you like it?
This reminds me of Giger's studio. He had bones, books, and paintings all over his home. At first it's really morbid to look at but with all of the work in progress, it also looks sort of lively.
This set was definitely the best part of the movie, all that effort really shows.
Super video it was nice to take a closer look at that room!
That's where The Fingering occurred.

I absolutely adored Alien: Covenant. The production design is right up there with some of the best I have seen. The way its shot, the lighting is amazing. Very hopeful of a third and final instalment in this series because I absolutely adored Prometheus and Covenant.
This is my favorite video that you guys have made. being a story teller my self in the music business I am captivated by this stuff and the level of detail that is presented hear.
Such a beautiful video :) Love Covenant and can't wait for what comes next in David's scheme!
I've never been more bored by a film filled with so much artistry. Then again, I haven't seen Ghost in the Shell yet.
Love these videos of yours Adam. You’re such a great host for this material.
I would rather pay money to see a film of just the artists making props for this film than the film itself. Just give me a 2 and a half hours of the prop creation and some interviews and backstory of the artists.

Splinks Maybe something like that will be on the special features of the home release... Too bad you'll have to buy the movie anyway to get it.
@forgottenalex

True, but it seems that those features always have jumpcuts to the actors and director every minute asking what they think of the art process. It never goes in depth on the processes or the many failed alternative methods they went through to get the final design.

Absolutely amazing, love it all. The Blueray extras have some of the drawings, each one should of been scanned and added to the bonus content
thank you for this!
When I watched the film all the set design, props and the smallest details made it so amazing.
I LOVE this movie, and I know some people don't like the film. I think it's amazing!
Adam! You need to buy the set and make it an exhibition! PUT IT IN A MUSEUM
Ridley gives his actors so much to work with and that comes through in his films.
Astounding work.
this vid is cool because when i saw the film i really wanted to get a closer look at this room :D
This made me want to see the movie now. Good Job!!
You can really share Adam's enthusiasm, he loves attention to detail as much as we do, brilliant!

We still haven't had a spoiler cast for covenant. Love all he behind the scenes stuff you guys have shared it gives me more enjoyment out of the film
One can imagine the huge devotion in designing these artworks and pottery !
Well, this is how ads should look like :P
I love how they had drawings from HR Giger.
So much fun! Amazing!
I could spend hours in that lab! I sympthaize with david with his fascination with learning about life forms and trying to understand the world around me.
Love this workshop
Seeing the sets and art departments the way adam has shown trough this series is far better than the actual movie.
Amazing and talented people on this earth......I doff my cap to them all....
I love all the details and textures and imagery that goes into this. Clearly everything has been thoughtfully chosen by Ridley and the creative team at 20th Century Fox, from the color scheme of the chamber to the particular handwriting on each insect specimen backing. Pity it all is taken down after photography ends; there ought to be a "Hollywood Museum of Sets", where really interesting and striking ones are saved for posterity so that the film is not all we have left of the room/setting.
Ugh soo cooool!!
Adams wonderment is infectious

I love it too. But Ridley should never ever ever listen to the fans.
Would be nice to see a VR showcase of movie sets in the future along the blue-rays. The amount of detail is not appreciated in film form. Would be a nice add-on and would make more sense to purchase a blue-ray with something like that. IDK, you pop in the BR in the PS4, put on the VR and you immerse deeper into the story.
Beautiful..
Adam Savage : Thanks for sharing this.
Waiting to watch it
Fav part of the movie was the synth-synth interaction, super interesting. The plot twist at the end was telegraphed way too much and captain was a complete dingus following David into his lair and then staring into a pod directly.
I would love to be able to get my hands on some of these props after the sets are taken apart after shooting the film. Such a great part of film history!
This is probably one of the coolest part of the movie
i watched it 2 times in a row.... i dunno what to say.... this is as incredible as wonderful as admirable.... wow - sad, that so many people dislike the movie.
Alien: Covenant should have been a mini-series
Ridley Scott should auction parts of the set and props

Adam's face looks like how I feel every time I get a new tidbit about the alien movies. I wish I was him right now on that set.
this stuff makes me want to explore sets much more than i want to watch the movie, like i feel like im loosing so much not being able to BE in this room.
I wonder how many set pieces Adam jotted down to recreate? This is such a beautiful set, this is why i studied art, this is where I want to be one day, I want to create a monster that can live up with the rest of them like Godzilla, King Kong, the Xenomorphs. This is the dream!
awesome!
Adam is like a favourite teacher you had school, you get caught up in his enthusiasm.
Excellent video! Alien movies might be a little scary for us kids, but this looks cool.
There should have been a solid 20 minute sequence in 'Covenant' with David killing the engineers, crashing the ship, waking up Shaw, Shaw's death in his lab and his studies on the neomorph/xenomorph & how he came to love his 'perfect creation'. Fassbender could have made that beautiful.

Conor Doyle this movie should be shorter, not longer, also part of things you mentioned was actually filmed, you can find it on KZread marked as Cut Content
I love to ponder why he took the time to make paper and even illuminate illustrations.
For sure there were parts of the movie that could have been made better, but Fassbender's villain is going to be looked at as amazing and a piece that held the movies together. He is doing amazing and I would just rather see more of his complex character.
I wonder where I would find some of the drawings of "davids cave" for sale? If someone can point me in the right direction that would be great. Thank you.
The picture Is amazing..to guión,efects specil... grettings...of Ecuador...The history to be continúe........Is so Cool youre The best.
COOL !!!
God I love this channel
PLEASE tell me they let Adam crawl all over that set for hours and he filmed it...there is so much lore and awesome craftsmanship in there. I want to see every prop, every drawing, every engraving on the wall.
So what became of all the sets and the props?
Is it not possible to buy these original items from the filmset? If so where can i buy or get this?
Adam talking about the set was a thousand times more interesting than the movies actual portrayal and dive into david and his lair.
The room was scaled for human size, which I found odd. The giant Engineers would not have able to fit through the doors or sit on those benches. Unless David created the entire room himself (carved it out) but the age and patina of the place makes that scenario seem unlikely. Perhaps a flaw in logic on the filmmakers' part...? Amazing set decor, though!

The box office was fine. Not a disaster by any means but likely they'd have to lower the budget if making another one. It's a strong brand that probably will see more installments even if they bomb.
@ThisIsMyFullName

The movie made over twice its budget, it just wasn't as much as Fox hoped it would make. In comparison, Prometheus made over three times its budget, while still costing 30 mill more to make then Covenant. I think we'll see a sequel to Covenant, with a smaller budget, and the success of that movie will determine whether we'll see any more.

The Vostro Gamer It was The Hollywood Reporter who wrote that Fox were reconsidering making more new Alien movies, despite the fact that the script for the new movie is complete. But it is a bit worrying, considering Ridley want to make two more prequels, leading up to Alien.
I hope Adam was allowed to take some of the stuff with him. If there is one person that would appreciate it all it all it would be him.
Dude. I want to work there. That is like being a god, creating a world from scratch, infusing it with details. Amazed.
actually I was disappointed that shaw couldn't confront the engineer's home planet instead she gets turned into David's experiment.
Had to smile when I learnt that part of the movie was done in New Zealand.
I look forward to see Alien Awakening
holy shit WOW Impressive
The tool holder on the table, i really want to make 1 now. Just too good not to.
BTW, at the end of Prometheus I thought David was separated from his head? I haven't seen the movie but I hope that was addressed.

He was, but idiot Shaw reattached it. So he wound up killing her and an entire city of Engineers.
This is better than the movies hand down!
can you do an episode on Blendo adam and jamies robot from the mid 90s
Maannnn! I wished they would have displayed David's Lair at LACMA or something:,(
Adam must have slipped a scroll or two into his pocket when the cameras aint rolling haha :P
This movie was great. Can't wait to see it again.
Idea for Adam's next ComiCon incognito. He takes off his glasses and goes as Ridley Scott.
be great if they released an anatomical print set of all the drawings
I thought the film was great, and espcially liked the set shown in this video, the attention to detail really made it seem like someone had been living there for decades. I also think the film was very well made, it told the story of Alien very well and filled in a lot fo the gaps. I think those who say the film is bad havent spent enough time thinking about the film and Prometheus. People who just want to watch a great 2 hour stand alone film probably wont work out Covenant.
How did David perform his experiments without any equipment or electricity?
Adam you lucky guy
in Aline and alien prequels u can clearly see how much skill how much effort and dedication was put into these moovies, its sad to see that Alien fanbase is so hostile towards those moovies
What? David was just a head at the end of Prometheus and him and that chick were off to the creators homeworld or something? is that explained in the movie? was looking forward to seeing what that was all about, it was kinda the cliff hanger from Prometheus. Either way looks pretty sweet.
David I Like Your Drawings
YASSSSSSSS
Background music?
I want to see the anatomy in person.
Where ARE all those fantastic props?
*I cannot believe there is no **_"Integrated Hollywood Museum"_** where all these artifacts go to rest (and be reused in sequels)*
WOW
Running man type music. I like it.
I want that art
