I worked in a high volume sandwich shop for 4 years (college) and best way to layer a sandwich is either mayo base sauce on both sides of bread, or oil based sauce in middle or hot sauce on the top. Protein on the bottom, crunchy on the top, everything goes in the middle... I think he forgot to mention that a lot of people eat sandwiches with the bottom up, it's more the way you eat a burger, but a well made sandwich doesn't or should not have a need to be 'flipped'.

thecassman When you place your sandwich back, especially a burger, you don't place it down like it was first made, you put it upside down. It's more comfortable for the hand that way. The movement is a lot smoother by rotating.

My favorite sandwich= Fresh warm french bread, little butter on the top and bottom, salami as the first layer, then mortadella, then kashkaval cheese, then some slices of green bell pepper and onion and that's it! The main ingredient is for everything to be really fresh. It's sort of a Romanian thing, but OMG it's the best

most people will look at this and see an abomination, and I don't know what it is but I've always loved these kind of weird, obscure, "concoction" type sandwiches. I remember the the first crazy one was a regular ham sandwich and I was just drunk as all fuck with hardcore beer munchies, and for some reason I felt like putting pizza sauce on it would be good, and I'll be damned, it was. So now I always make weird shit like that and I love it.
