This girl is an adult now. I'd like to see/hear her reaction to these birthday demands now.

In fact, I think she might be exactly that age this year (2023) as I feel like she was born when I was first listening to Adam and Joe in 2009.

It's so easy, _too_ easy, for us to listen to this and pretend to be the smartest in the world at KZread comments. We've known for some time that the anonymity of the internet opens a chasm for cruel, dishonest behaviour and posturing. But I'm increasingly finding that the environment also breeds a kind of stubborn, almost indignant refusal to empathise. As if somehow the disconnection from understanding another person's situation is somehow desirable. Having never been a 13 year old girl and never 'creating' a 13 year old girl, I have zero real world experience of dealing with the whimsy and caprice of a 13 year old girl. I don't know what age you have to be in Britain before you can legally get a job at a burger joint or as a checkout chick. I imagine it's older than 13. But even so, doing a few domestic chores for pocket money might be worthwhile in teaching someone the value of a dollar (or pound). Thirteen is definitely old enough to understand that pockets aren't yawning trenches filled with money. There must be some way to get a teenager to revise down their expectations. Also, Adam did put a little petulant stank in his reading.

Sounds like the parents missed the "primary disciplining period" in this spoiled brats' life! The American dad who shot his daughter's laptop sets a good example! The phrase "Rod for your own back." springs to mind...

yeahweburnstuff Yes, getting angry with your daughter and pulling a gun sets an amazing example.
