from my side ... a lot of holes in story ... like why they turned criminals into robots? why not just tkae their organs and throw their dead bodies out? or when turning them into robots ... why not to use them to do labor? why were those guards afraid of 2 outlaws? they could just shoot them ... how did they know when new robots will be released outside? why they rescued them when there was nothing more to do ? just to go to some old storage and what? ... how he healed her? ok lets say he has access to nanomachines and they did the trick, so why is his exoskeleton so prehistorical?

@@kacmed to answer the first question, I think it’s somewhat similar to “death punishments are too harsh!” type of situation. I also think it has to do with the shortage of organs and the need for labour work, hence the reason they take the organs and put the brains into robots for labour. These robots weren’t seen doing labour work because they were interrupted by the outlaws. I don’t really know why they were so afraid of the outlaws though, perhaps it’s a matter of not wanting to make martyrs out of them?

To interpret this properly, I think the "Priest" was actually a robot working for the Consortium to test the human members of the Consortium to see whether they are loyal members or traitors. And as a result of her action, while Marian was 'cured', eventually probably turned over to the Consortium and was converted to a Robot. Then her crimes were revealed in episode 2, which included treason as well as terrorism charges, which seems consistent with her renouncing the consortium and as well as proving it with her actions.

No, Blomkamp is showing different part of the movie's universe (expanding on the ADAM universe in a very similar and very creative way like he did with Ep 2 to Ep 1) by showing a different faction + different place on Earth. Adam is a political dissident, which implies he's gonna lead the human robots as he has most likely already been a part of or been a leader in some type of human movement within the Consortium (it's shown through his actions - being the only one looking back in ep.1 & being the only one helping in ep.2, being proactive) in most likely a rebelion/exposing the truth about where the criminals ( even the one for lesser crimes) go and the harvesting of the bodies to the general population. Marian is obviously not a leader and gets converted into a firm believer by the masterful play of the false Messiah and his nanobots healing her sickness. The Prophet mentioning that Earth was destroyed by the technology (and that his faction "abhors technology"), infering to a (nuclear) World War with an AI which was presumedly defeated. It's revealed to us that the AI (or group of different AIs with one supreme AI) is not defeated but is hiding and playing a Messiah role under the nose of the unaware Consortium and the human race.

So basically there are three factions. 1.) The consortium who are true humans and skilled in creating machines and technologies. But yet they are unwilling or unable to deal with the biospheric problems the world has. Furthermore they need human "parts" to either prolong their lives or better it. Still they have ethics which forbids them of killing other humans. Therefore they put their prisoners into machines that either house their brains or contain a brain upload of them. They seem to be a great empire in decline. It appears as if they merely inherited their technology and ethics but no longer fully control/understand them. 2.) The outcasts who are human brains within robotic shells. Some of them seem to be quite accustom to their new bodies and modified them/found ways to expand their possibilities. They seem to be living a tribal live. 3.) And true Ai that is actively manipulating disfranchised humans. They seem to be the most capable of the factions given that they basically can do stuff that is seen by the ex-consortium members (already an advanced faction) as magic. These factions mirror the three possible outcomes that AI might have on our society. Either become a machine and loose your humanity. This will disfranchise you from the "normal" humans and throw you into a completely new and alien world. You won't be able to trust yourself for all your senses might be false. So you will need to trust someone else (like that mirror). Or stay human but suffer the weakens of your flesh and the fact that soon you won't be able to understand the ever advancing technology. This also means that you may have to take radical steps to ensure both your dominance and your personal well being. Also you might be helpless to face a changing world. Or let a AI rule you. With either smoke and mirrors or trough the great benefit that it may give you for now. If you do the last then the AI won't see you necessarily as a threat. But humans with similar capabilities like the AI, cyborgs or those with much knowledge like the consortium, are a huge threat to it. So prepare yourself of a very simple and compliant live. And be aware that those armed guards are probably not all humans.

Theory: Marian didn't kill her brother. She killed a long-dead cyborg. Since the 'prophet' appears to affect human bodies, he manipulates the captive cyborg to make it talk and call for her after Marian told enough informations for the prophet to manipulate her through 'Jacob'. Plus, the cyborg didn't recognize her at first sight, nor did it look upon her when he first calls for her (and its eyes look intact). My guess is that the 'prophet' uses the same protocol with every person wishing to join him. Anyway, this is -as always here- a masterpiece...

We need at least 7 seven more episodes! AT LEAST! Look at how many people love this! You need to make more... release a poll or something, because I will subscribe only for more ADAM content. You have the makings of an incredible fandom, with fan art, fan fiction, and fan made edits! But you've left the episodes for over two years. People who are reading this that want more of ADAM, get this comment to the top, make a comment of your own, do whatever it takes to get them to notice that we want more of this!

hadron89 I think you're confusing the seriousness of the games with their (frankly) flawed exploration of themes and philosophy hidden within the cutscenes. It's not that the series were serious for the sake of it as much as they tried their hardest to convey their message through the acted seriousness of the characters. You need to approach the games from a different point of view to get a grasp on it, hence why the series have never really been mainstream excluding the most recent title. Can't agree on the atmosphere though, each game has had that certain feel bound to it and never really let it loose IMHO.

it takes too long. thats also one of the weaknesses of unity. its very good if you have a couple years for a little scene. unreal engine is much fast and nearly as good as unity. but because its faster and easier to use even an amateur could develeop nice games. with unity its impossible. (i heard)

Let's recap, if you commit a felony, they take your body for parts, stick your brain in a cybernetic shell. Then banish you to the wasteland, where you meet some bounty hunter/esk type cyborgs...this is cinematic magic...make this a complete work!

The entire point of oats was so that a bunch of creative filmmakers could experiment around with all sorts of film, without being pinned down by the huge effort and time to make a longer, feature-length film, or tv series. hence every oats vid starts with that clip of "experimental log" whatever, etc.

@Scott Summers Sort of, they actually use the Servitors for a purpose. It seems these cyborgs are not used for any form of labor, they just take the body for some undisclosed reason and then banish the remains.
