Adam Curry: The Evil of COVID Led Me to God

Adam Curry reveals how the injustice of COVID lockdowns inspired his journey from skepticism to Christianity. Having found himself among a diverse group of Christian colleagues, he realized that his assumptions about what faith looked like may have been wrong. Adam discusses how witnessing true evil during the pandemic, reconsidering the Bible as the greatest conspiracy theory, and reading the book “Beautiful Outlaw” led him to eventually joining a church community.

How much I agree with that, except to extend it to the Creator/God and the Helper/Holy Spirit as well. I was Born Again (when I begged for it) in my bedroom. Does not mean that Priests and Churches are not good and helpful - they can be and are; but ultimately it is and must be direct between us and the Holy Trinity.

I'm starting to wonder if the loss in "faith" in government is actually pushing people. When someone says they are an atheist, it implies that they have faith that humans will rationally make the correct decisions based on facts and science and those decisions will be to benefit society. Well, having lived through the last 8 or so years. It's obviously, that even in the West our human leaders cannot make wise decisions or overcome their own self-interests and corruption. Where does the atheist go when the key foundation, man, becomes impossibly and visibly flawed.

Divine providence. God can use evil for the fulfillment of his plan. I wouldn't say, 'if there is evil there must be good for balance' because that is a dualistic metaphysic. However if man lives a disordered life and rejects the good then 'evil' will be the result as the absence of the good. Our culture is extremely disordered - abortion, gay marriage, degenerate books in libraries for children, policy that reinforces christian persecution, use of power over reason (lockdowns, forced vaccinations).

No wonder the world loves 'the chosen' so much. John 5:43, "I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive." And that's exactly what's going on. The world wants a Jesus that makes them comfortable. A Jesus created in their image.

I grew up Catholic and always had a belief in Christ. But I had never really experienced Him, or the sense of truly being "born again", and still have not. I believe that being baptized by the Holy Spirit is more than a mere belief or verbal proclamation of Christ being Lord, but something that happens to you. It has clearly not happened to me yet. But as to seeing evil, I've had malevolent spirit entities in my life and around me for 7 years. It has been awful. I have lived several different places during that time, and they have followed me. So it is not a haunted living space. I hear them just about every day, even as I type this. I've had physical evidence such as shattered light bulbs, so this is not an auditory hallucination or mental illness. My dog senses them at times as well, it is very obvious. There is no question they are malevolent, they hijack my dreams at night and drain my energy. I have not had a restful night's sleep since before Covid, honestly. They have ruined my life in several aspects pretty much. I have rebuked them in Christ's name, to no avail. I am a reasonably smart person and have tried everything that would occur to most people. I even had two Catholic exorcisms a couple years ago. One was with two priests, the other was with a Bishop and several priests around him. Neither seemed to have any positive impact, probably b/c I am not possessed. But these things are clearly entangled with my soul on some level, it is horrifying. I got water baptised fully immersed in like 2019 as well, which also did not have an impact. So the only thing I will ask is for people to pray for me, so if you read this, please do. I pray that any healing benefit I experience as the result of prayers be returned to those who prayed for me, a thousand fold. So anyway, for evil forces like this to be real, I know that there must be forces of light as well. I feel very distant from them though, unfortunately. Peace to all. 🙏

We intuitively know that evil only exists, or is not active, unless it is acting upon something good. Even though I easily understood that it still blew my mind. A thing can be good all by itself - like crops that grow from the seeds we plan. A baby is good - a new life, the start of a new generation and it has no evil plans or actions. Evil on the other hand has to act upon something good.

  • @pocket83squared

You also "intuitively know" that some things are intrinsically good, apparently. And thus is born the intuition-based morality, the progenitor of such classics as stoning, slavery, and witch-burning. Tell me, how do you know that a seed's growth is good, outside of 'feeling' it is so? _Good for hunger_ is only a good that's with respect to something; food does no good when one is drowning, so food cannot be an objective good. And it's no good to a plant to be eaten. Good and evil are constructs of the imagination. Outside of the mind, there is absolutely no basis from which you can assert that they exist. Any categorical lines you draw will be arbitrary. Your intuitions have absolutely no bearing on reality.

Or Luke Skywalker, or an amalgamation of the two (or more such fictional characters). Jesus did admit himself to be God many times, such as saying I and the father are one, or calling himself the Son of Man. To one new on these topics those words may not mean much, but to those well educated in the scriptures (such as was with the Pharisees & Sadducees) those words carry deep meaning, proclaiming himself God/equal to God.

Following Finland, in the top ten, are Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Israel, and New Zealand. And it just so happens that all of them are among the most secular/least religious nations on Earth. Aside from outlier Israel - which is growing more religious as it grows more brutal and undemocratic - all of these top-10 happiest nations have experienced dramatic degrees of secularization over the last century.

It's like a king bestowing grace to a condemned but whilst he is leaving, the king warns the "lucky" fellow that he might send his guards to fetch him at any time to chop his head off. How is that grace, at best that is a conditional mercy. Not biblical for us today, it is called free gift for a reason. Free means no conditions attached i.e. mortal sins. And yet eleven of his twelve closest disciples spent the rest of their lives proclaiming that Jesus had risen. (Judas Iscariot committed suicide after betraying him.) They faced great persecution, and John was the only one who was not killed for his faith. There were countless others who did the same. What was their motivation? They certainly weren’t doing it for money or prestige or power. It would have been so easy, and probably tempting, to either recant their testimony or to move away and resume their traditional Jewish way of life or just blend in with the Gentiles. Why were so many devout Jews and also pagan Gentiles willing to believe that this Jesus was the Son of God and that he rose from the dead? Why do so many people of other religions want to claim Jesus in some way, even if it’s just as a great teacher or prophet? He is widely regarded as the greatest moral teacher ever, but he produced followers who spent their lives telling a lie about him rising from the dead instead of mourning his death and just continuing his teachings? I find that harder to believe than the gospel message.

@@Peginafication Great comment actually. Tbh, I’m a skeptic about most things that people put their belief in. I used to be a “born again” I was young and naive. As I got older, I began to travel and realized that the world is a big place and people believe a lot of things. Think to yourself about all the spiritual beliefs and religions that have come before and the number of people that have been willing to die for it. To take Christianity or Judaism or Islam and place it above all those others just because you’re passionate about believing it, doesn’t make it true, regardless of it being written in a book. While I do believe in a historic Jeshua, because he’s been written about by other historical political figures, I believe that that there is absolutely no way to prove that any of the texts written about him are 100% true. It’s simply a matter of taking it on faith. Those are incredible claims that must be substantiated by hard evidence.

@@chuckfriebe843 I agree, there is no undeniable, take it to the bank proof, but good Lord there is a lot of very good evidence. Again, check out the shroud if you really are interested in evidence. It's not proof, but it's pretty good evidence that's hard to ignore. Check out Marian apparitions, particularly those in Zeitoun which occurred over years and witnessed by millions and attempted to be debunked by the Islamic government of the country but still reported in its mainstream media. Unheard of stuff On top of any evidence you come across though, there is always the personal evidence and messages you get. But God will never force Himself on anyone. You need to invite Him in. Once you do, the "evidence" is more than you could ask for. There's also a difference between people dying for a cause vs dying to defend a fact. These weren't people who sought to die for a cause they felt strongly about. All they were asked to do was to deny what they knew. They couldn't.
