Does anyone else want Chance and Avi to write and perform a song together? I absolutely love Chance's voice, and when he gets together with the Hound + Fox, it is just beautiful. Thank you for this reaction!

Hound and the Fox did a lot of Home Free’s video production. If you go look at the Behind the Scenes for “Try Everything”. You can see them there in the room while they are working along with their baby. Home Free encouraged them to start putting out their own music. Most of their songs are along the folk song style. They have several collaborations with Chance that others have mentioned and with Tim (We Three Kings….. for Christmas…awesome video)

This is such a beautiful song & so beautifully sung. They harmonize perfectly together. No theatrics, no glitz - just letting the music speak for itself. Thanks for playing this & your comments.

When Chance collaborates with Hound + Fox, he gets to scratch his itch for folk music. His quiet melody shows off his mellow bass range, and the harmonies with H+F are beautiful. He's been scratching sea lore as well! I love seeing him in this element. Other commenters reveal more about the friendships Home Free has had with H+F for many years. Great reaction!

This song is hundreds of years old. Listed as 'Traditional' since no one knows who wrote it. There is a great mandolin and vocals version by Gerry Garcia and David Grisman. It is definitely a folk song. Has a simple chord structure. Hound and Fox are very talented married couple. They used to produce some of HomeFree's songs. Have their own albums. Just finished up one of lullibies. B but I think they have one of spooky/horror songs too. And others too I'm sure. They were in HomeFree's cover of 'Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get it On. Excellent BTW. At Christmas we will remind you to listen to them sing 'We Three Kings' with Tim Foust. Gorgeous.

Great reaction Josh! I think that Chance is the least appreciated of the four singers in HF (I know Adam Rupp can sing, but I think of him as the 'orchestra'). I really enjoy Chance's vocal qualities in this song and in his HF work. The Hound and the Fox have a great sound also. The Sound of Silence is on their youtube channel. It's a great cover and worth listening.

I really enjoy "The Hound & The Fox's music. They've done a lot of collaborations with different members of Home Free & other artists. Their voices really suit the older folk style of songs & Chance blends well with them. This is a very old song that has been covered by many famous artists such as Burl Ives, Emmylou Harris & Johnny Cash.

The Hound and the Fox have a great folky sound that works with Adam's voice. They have done several other collabs, including an original written by them - The Whistlin' Lad. They have an album of lullabies coming out soon, on which Adam and Tom both appear, as well as several other "Home Free adjacent" musicians. I've heard a couple of the songs. Can't wait for the whole thing.

Fellow Oregonian's Reilly and McKenzie Zamber! I love the Hound and The Fox. Yes, you need to do Sound Of Silence next. I normally don't like when folks cover that song but I highly approve of Adam, Reilly and McKenzie's cover. Wayfaring Stranger is an old folk song. I think the first time I heard it was when Joan Baez did it back in the 60's.

The song is ancient. The Hound+Fox are great! They just released a collaboration with Jeffrey East, who has co-written a number of songs with Home Free as well as being a guest in their video “People” and during a Christmas performance with either the Oak Ridge Boys or Alabama. When it gets on towards Christmas, they have a collaboration with Tim Foust on “We Three Kings.” Chance has some covers on his channel. My favorite is Driver’s License. He is in the process of making/releasing a solo album that I believe will be all originals by Chance. He has done multiple things with Hound+Fox and, after this one, A Whistling Lad is a favorite of mine. Thanks for doing this one, Josh!

I'm having to giggle about this, because I just wrote about the song being REALLY old, as well. It's actually only five years older than I am, so I guess now I'm ANCIENT! It was "born" (at least first published) in 1944. I was born in 1949. I don't FEEL ancient, but, hey! I'm in good company, at least! 😀

Great reaction! Thank you! The song itself has been around for a LONG time, It's one of the ones my friends and I used to sing a LOT, in our early high school folk band that we put together (that was back in the 1960s). The song is much older than that. ;-) There's a really good WIKI article about it, entitled, "The Wayfaring Stranger (song)" that will give you some WAY-back dates, and how it came about. It also will mention Burl Ives, which is whom I heard it from when I was just a tyke. Culverts make GREAT backdrops for guitars and voices, due to their shape. Also, any standing water gives its effects to the sound, as well. We had one very similar to that, about 1/4-mile away from our house, two miles outside of Old Valdez, Alaska, when I was growing up. We kids and our mom used to LOVE to go stand inside of it and sing. Riley and McKenzie are wonderful, all by themselves, and so is Chance, but when they get together like this, it's REALLY precious. 😀 I think there are two more songs they've done together (maybe more than that). You can check through their own catalog to find them. Riley and McKenzie have also done music with all of the other Home Free members. You can find their own version of "Thinking Out Loud (Ed Sheeran Cover) - The Hound + The Fox" on their channel, and the version that they were in, and also produced with Home Free, called "Thinking Out Loud / Let's Get It On (Ed Sheeran and Marvin Gaye) - Home Free." That was back before Chance was with the group. I'm thinking you might REALLY enjoy reacting to some of Riley's and McKenzie's own works (other than the one I just mentioned). They've also done really good stuff with Tim Foust and his wife. My favorite of their own stuff, is "The Rose (Bette Midler Cover) | The Hound + The Fox." They also have some originals, which are mostly lullabies, if I'm remembering correctly. Enjoy! 😀

The song was first published in 1848 in English, but it is thought to be from an even older German hymn. It has been sung through the years by many singers. A little fact,a Union soldier imprisoned in the south, wrote the lyrics on his cell wall before he died. This song about death as a journey home has touched peopke fir several hundred years. Love his rendition of Olivia Rodrigo's Driver's License. TH+TF have both power and fragility/vulnerability in their vocals which is intriguing combo. Can hear a bit of Sarah Maclachlan and Loreena McKennit in McKenzie.
