So for example RE5 remake comes out, an encounter is left out, that encounter is no longer canon. Like they're revisions of the main canon meant to replace the originals.

All she did was use Leon’s lack of experience on the first day against him, just to get what she wanted. And I know what it feels like to be used as nothing more than a toy for someone else’s enjoyment. It hurts to see that happen in RE2 But that’s just my opinion. If you think differently. I wouldn’t hate you for that.

In the original they were clearly going for that classic spy movie trope with these two, almost a mr and mrs smith thing, where there's attraction and flirting but the nature of their work (especially Ada's) and their jaded, untrusting mentalities (ESPECIALLY Ada's) keeps anything from actually happening. Stringing the audience along with bait, which isn't a bad thing all the time. What i like about the remake is that, in their attempt to do the stories more realistically, they included Leon and Ada's relationship. In 2 he was a young rookie cop on his first day, naive and super easy for Ada to manipulate and string along. She clearly cared enough about him to save him in the end (of the 1st playthrough anyway) which made Leon conflicted after also finding out she'd been lying to him the whole time; but once bitten twice shy, and we see the result of that here: throughout 4 Leon seems wary and fed up with Ada, no one likes being taken for a ride, and with such an important job to do, Leon's making sure it doesn't happen again. On the flipside, Ada can clearly tell Leon's not the same kid anymore, and has to pour on the charm to try and manipulate him this time. All that to say, the remake did a phenomenal job modernizing this relationship, while making it fit the tone they were going for.

It's meant to burn hot, inspire intrigue, but not truly meant to represent an ideal, real life ship.
