    You should take the time to read the various splats if you can get ahold of them! All very inspiring, whether you intend to run the region or not, or run as regents or simply adventurers!

    Birthright was my major re-entry into 2e and D&D after having left playing. GREAT Setting--such a shame that it wasn't given the support into the future.

    make sure you track down the unreleased books, blood spawn and the book of regency, they are GREAT to go with the game. You can find those pdfs floating around. Good luck getting naval rules, you will have to get a pdf because for some reason that one goes for stupid insane money.

    My concern as a DM was always this: if you play the game as rulers, I suspect there would never be a need to adventure in the typical D&D way. You'd have a kingdom of knights, wizards, monks, priests that could do your bidding. I bought the box set and will be trying to go through it this summer

    True, if everyone ruled separate realms it would be quite complicated. It's worked fine when players where other regents in the same realm but even that can get tricky. A regent with lieutenants going on an adventure has worked as well.

    Could players role play a collection of high level characters in addition to the ruler? The DM lets them build 3 or 4 PCs: fighters, wizards, assassins, etc. who may be assigned missions played in separate game sessions. It'd be fun to play competitive, multiplayer Birthright and see what schemes players come up with. Like sending their assassin PC to murder the other player's ruler in his sleep or poison his soup. 😅 Perhaps the ruler ventures on a quest to acquire a rare magic item. Or assembles a band of adventurers led by one of the player's PCs.

    Certainly nothing wrong with rolling up some hired muscle. A lot of times these could even be the regent's lieutenants etc.@@RobertWF42

    This is a pretty cool series. I was going to run a campaign using MCDMs Kingdom's & Warfare and was looking for something to help populate the rest of the world with allies and enemies for the PC's realm. I figured since Birthright was such an inspiration for K&W, it would be a good place to start. Your videos helped confirm that, so thanks. I grabbed the campaign setting off of Drive Thru. For $10, it's a pretty good deal. Slightly less of a good deal is the "Player's Secrets" series. Do you have any experience with those? I haven't seen all the Birthright videos on your channel yet, so if they're covered somewhere, I'll definitely check them out. They seem to garner mixed reviews online, with some saying that the plot hooks are great for quest inspiration and others saying that there isn't much in 32 pages that you can't get from the Ruins book. Anyway, back to the videos. Thanks.

    I've got all of the Birthright releases. We will cover them at some point. They Player's Secrets series gets a bad wrap but considering what they cost back then ($5 or so) they really do provide a lot of extra insight and ideas for the given realms.

    @@VictorumGaming Yeah, they're still $5 each for the pdf, which isn't bad, but there are quite a few of them, so it seems a little much considering the whole setting is only $10. Plus, since it's a conversion, I don't really need all the maps and geography, just looking for major players and plot hooks. Maybe I'll grab one or two in the meantime just to see what they are while I keep an eye on your channel. Thanks for the reply!

    Is Birthright meant to be played solo or with a party? It seems like more of a solo thing.

  • @VictorumGaming

    @VictorumGaming

    Жыл бұрын

    Depends on how you want to approach it. If everyone rules a different domain there isn't the traditional 'party'. You could also just run adventures for characters in the setting and ignore the actual running a country portion as well. Lots of possibilities!
