AD&D 2nd Edition The Temple of Elemental Evil Session 0.5

Ойын-сауық

Welcome to the Temple of Elemental Evil!
From the rear of the classic TSR module, written by Gary Gygax and Frank Mentzer:
"A sinister force, long thought destroyed, stirs from the black hole that spawned it. Like an ebony darkness it prowls the land and safety is but an illusion, for it watches from every shadow and ponders possibilities.
"What began years ago with the introduction of the players to the quiet village of Hommlet and the amazing lands of Greyhawk, at last is complete. Here is the long awaited campaign adventure featuring the ruins of the Temple of Elemental Evil! Evil broods and grows beneath those blasted stones. This is your chance to drive it back and scatter its forces again."
We begin our campaign with an abbreviated Session Zero, followed immediately by the heroes first foray into the lands around Hommlet!

You run exactly like I run. Both laid back and serious. No training no level limits. Enjoying it so far. The only thing I would have done differently is to have them roll their characters on the video so we would know what others are playing. Idk what class the players are playing lol. It could've covered a lot of rules and mechanics during the creation process instead if the battle. But I do understand why you didn't. It is such a blessing to listen to gaming where the party isn't a furry convention and I don't hear bonus action extra reaction half teifling half ogre asexual Ranger /druid/mage/alchemist who carries a teddy bear and uses finger puppets v

That's a good point. We'd actually planned on making characters during session zero, bit folks were super eager to just play the game, and everyone kind of knew what they were doing, that they just made them beforehand. Glad you're enjoying it!

Interesting. Going to watch this series to catch-up as I am seeing this late, obviously. Intrigued about the "system mastery" statement too-given that you had the players add a Perception stat to their characters, since that is typically known to be the Wisdom score in AD&D 1E/2E...😉 Also a half-drow (evil?) character? Does he realize the implications of that- or better yet will he be challenged because of it? Also, a 3.5E desert elf race? (Snow Elf is Greyhawk 1E/2E from Dragon) 2E kits vs original module as written? Interesting indeed.

I was excited thinking this was the new Goodman Games elemental evil 5th edition, just to be let down and see another TSR, mess... Sadder still not one person knows how to Edit Video and fix the technical issues before recording, I suggest you delete this and try again?

First off, if it wasn't for Gary Gygax & TSR bringing D&D, and AD&D respectively, to the masses you wouldn't have the unmitigated crap that eventually evolved into the WOC 5th Edition suck-fest. Which, by the way, is played by half-wit children who apparently have problems reading titles of KZread videos and mistake AD&D 2nd Edition to read as 5th Edition D&D, then make snarky posts about it. Figures. This show was apparently streamed Live, which everyone knows (except for 5th Edition players, apparently) you really cannot edit. Research 'Live Streaming' it may help. Perhaps you should head over to that nice scripted snooze-fest, Critical Role, for all your garbage 5th Edition needs.

I'm sorry that you weren't happy with the video. It's not meant to be the kind of slick, polished 5e productions you commonly see these days. It's old school theatre of the mind, a group of friends sitting down to play. If you're expecting scripting, video game style monster icons, and super hero characters, this isn't the stream for you.

congratulations, frank here has volunteered to be the game's first Patreon supporter, willing to pay for the time, energy, and software necessary to make it look pretty and professional! unless you're just here to rain on friends having a good time. are you just here to complain about things? obvs you're free to your opinion, but if you're not offering anything but complaints, you should be aware that there's only two places your opinion can end up: laughed at or ignored. or both. I vote for both, and I hope it happens in a poorly edited video.

The Goodman Games version is just a simple conversion to 5E, it would play the same.

TSR produced the finest rpg ever. 5e and their ilk wouldn't be around without TSR.
