My son (the mechanic) wanted to replace one actuator on my 2013 Taurus as I only had heat in July. The part is only $15.00, and I suggested that while in the dash, that we should replace all actuators due to their age. Total parts bill less than $80.00! To do this the console, gauge cluster, driver side air duct, radio, climate control cluster and everything below the passenger side air bag had to come out of the car. Spending an afternoon sharing cuss words with my son, PRICELESS! I am not so surprised that Dodge also has the same INTENTIONAL problems with bad parts. Why are there many items that have metal gears and will last forever, yet highly educated engineers have to make garbage products out of crappie plastics? Planned obsolescence, keeping the service department busy and parts sales are more important than bulding and selling a great product. Great job and keep up the great work!

Now im in my 60s im still paying for it. 8 plus hours a day 17 years Christmas rush was the worst we stayed booked up 2 months ive done them outside in 8" of snow. Worst is some kid brings in his car we didnt have a lift but he wanted his under car neon fixed, but the car had 12" of snow on it. The inside of the garage was 78 dgr you were in a foot of water with snow falling off the car on you. No floor drains. We finly got the boss to stop selling neon lights. That crap always had problems.

I've had a 2013 charger and currently have a 2016. I've had to change actuators in both and I feel your pain! You did a great job of making that look easier than it is, even though it was difficult for you! Side note, I still have backup actuators for both car for when they fail next! Except I don't have the 2013, so it's just a random actuator sitting on my parts shelf lol

I found out a little trick with the actuators on my Expedition that make them last longer. Never set the settings fully in one direction. This way they don't get locked on the ends of travel and strip out the gears. It is a poor design. Vacuum actuators lasted longer and were cheper to replace.😊

I had a very similar problem with my a/c in my 2009 Grand Marquis. It ended up being a temp sensor in the ductwork not allowing the blend door to fully close off the heat portion of the hvac.

Quickie: When trying to get hard to reach bolts I place my magnet next to the bolt. You might want to install magnets inside your sockets.

I have had to change all 3 of my Actuators on my 13 Chrysler 200 2.4L over the years. The problem has been the plastic shaft for the plastic gear has broke on all three. I thought it would have been the gear, but it was always the plastic shaft with mine.

You need a underdash creeper, basically a flat board like plywood and legs on one end. Lay board across rocker panel and the legs on the other end sit on the garage floor.

A little dab of RTV would keep the screw attached to your tool. Worth a try on these long distance removals.

I used to work on truck scales and some of the bolts and screws were very hard to reach. RTV on the end of the socket or on a screwdriver worked great. One of the older techs taught me that when I was a newbie!

I don't know if it was mentioned but on some actuators you can remove the gear that has a broken tooth turn it a half turn and pop it back in. On my 2010 Dodge Ram I was able to do that on the actuator next to the glove box. It looked like only part of the gear is used, it just turns back and forth not using the other half of the gear. So I did that so now I'm using the other half. I did this 7-8 years ago and it still works fine. Of course I wouldn't do this on a customer's car but it's fine for my own vehicle. The dealer wanted 800 bucks to remove the dash since they didn't know which one might be making the noise. I told them no thanks. I was lucky to find it was probably the easiest one to get to.
